This era is definitely testing. Lana and her team are playing us more than a teenager plays with their dick on summer break.

It's probably not coming this Friday. It's probably not coming July 21st, either. It's going to drop on some random Saturday afternoon at like 4 PM California time and it will take Lana like three days to remember to make a post of it on Instagram ("record out now, here's the link"), a post that will then quickly be overshadowed by random selfies with her backup singers and footage from vacations she took three years ago.

I don't think we need to resort to such drastic measures.

Honestly, though, I think there could be legitimately good things to come from Lana being managed by a stan or group of stans. They already have 100% passionate dedication to her career, they know her personality and style, what it's like to experience an era and what fans want to see/hear, what has worked and what hasn't worked in past eras, how leaks can happen and how to prevent them/minimize risks of leaks, Lana's competition in terms of audience/sales, etc. Combine that with a solid knowledge of how the industry works and I think very good things could come from this.

Lana/her team clearly do not know her fan base at all if they think everyone is going to wait patiently until July 21st for this album. Some way, somehow, it will get leaked, way ahead of schedule, so it's best to just release this Friday.

I feel like at this point Lana knows how much it drives everyone insane when she just refers to everything as "coming soon" but she passive-aggressively wants to get revenge on having her work leaked.

Honestly, I'd probably still be in total denial and refreshing Google news every 30 seconds waiting for the announcement for her second LP.

I haven't heard it yet, but the title alone makes me think of swedish fish, so I'm already here for it.

If the album really isn't coming until the end of July, I don't even want to know how many pages this thread will have by then.

I don't know if this is an unpopular opinion or not, but I kind of feel really sad to know that the Lana and even Lizzy we have come to know in the last few years is probably gone. Like, I'm not calling it a character or persona because that feels too easy and also not true, but there is a definite musical and visual universe that Lana has created and created from that I think came to an end with Honeymoon. Based on the songs we have gotten so far and the interviews, Lust for Life will more of an Elizabeth record than a Lana or Lizzy or May Jailer record, if you get what I mean, and I'm not sure going forward if she's going to ever go back to writing records from that place. There's been a definite change that you can hear in her interviews, and it sincerely makes me happy to know that she has found the community of musicians she has always been looking for and seems a lot more confident and assured about who she is as a person and wants to become more openly involved with things like politics and social issues, but it does make me sad to think that we reached the end of something special. I know for a fact I wouldn't be the only person on this board to say that Lana's previous releases impacted me so much not just because they are great songs, but because they spoke to something in myself in a way that most music does not. My relationship to that music has honestly been more enduring and rewarding than the majority of musicians I've listened to, and to end that is going to be strange to say the least. I like the concept she seems to be going for in this era and it's admirable that she wants to be a voice of hope and comfort, especially for younger fans, but the material is not connecting on the same level to me because it's not rooted in the same place. And again, obviously we will always have the albums and videos, so it's not like it's necessarily leaving, but we probably won't be getting new material that will come from that universe anymore. And all artists have to change, and it's great if it means Lana's happiness, but god it bums me out at the same time.

Her new shoot has restored my passion for this era. I'm ready to be fucked up. Lana, please come through.

Okay, my last bit of curiosity/excitement for this era is officially gone. I'll just pass on this album and wait for LDR6.
