  1. I don't think Lana has made an interesting video since Shades of Cool. A lot of people don't like that video, but I thought it was wonderful. Like with Lust For Life, I tried to get excited and I just couldn't. And White Mustang is SOOOOO boring, I didn't even watch the whole video.

  2. Everybody says she sounds so bad in this performance, but I don't hear it. I think this is one of her best performances ever of this song. I also love how she changes up the lyrics to "I just wanted my baby to know, that I think he's the best".

    Lovely.

Ah, this performance so beautiful, people think this is bad?

  3. Okay, but how many of you became fans after Ultraviolence? She hasn't been 'dead' since BTD. Her fan base basically doubled after UV, and it sure as hell isn't dropping, nor ever will because Lana is too smart and classy to ever do That Stupid Thing that makes everyone hate her, unlike all the others out there, so  ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

I actually know like four girls who became fans after UV and during Honeymoon.

  4. So people are speculating that God Is A Woman is the next/final single before the album comes out...especially with a title like that, girl better DELIVER as much as she's hyped the song up  :crossed: Give us THAT song we're waiting for!

I hope it's full of wonderful and powerful vocals and is uplifting!

  5. I don't think the song is really bad, but that voice in the background should have been used sparingly. I hope someone edits it out. But I really like that song.

  6. I listen to her songs less and less and lose interest with time. I was so so so fascinated with her - especially with her past - but now I am kinda bored and I less appreciate her music, I guess I overplayed it. It's a shame I was such a stan  :(

I think it's just a phase. My stanning died around 2015 and revived late 2016 early 2017. I think you'll get it back!

  7. Blake Stranathan, Lana’s Del Rey guitarist sharing some of the co-writing process of Ultraviolence with Lana in 2014 for strymon

Can you share what the co-writing process was like with Lana Del Rey on the new album Ultraviolence?

It was probably the best experience of my life so far. I was in New York visiting family, and Lana invited me down to Electric Lady Studios, which was always a dream of mine being a Hendrix nut. It was surreal being and working there. We wound up being there for 8 or 9 days with basically the entire place to ourselves. I had played guitar on a couple tracks that were pretty much finished, but one morning I came to the studio super early just to work out some tones and play in that amazing live room. As I was coming up with some progressions, Lana walked in and we came up with “Pretty When You Cry” on the spot. It was recorded through a Neve 8078 which just sounded unreal. None of it was planned which certainly added to the vibe. The same happened with “Cruel World”. I was actually watching a video of the ‘BigSky’ on my computer and showed it to her. She said, “Fuck! That sounds amazing. We need that.” (Laughs) So a couple of hours later, a runner went out and grabbed one. On the last day while Phil Joly, the engineer, was bouncing down a couple sessions, and she asked me if I wanted to play around with the new pedal in the live room. I played maybe a few chords and we immediately started writing ‘Cruel World’. We recorded it just guitar and vocal in one take, and then Dan Auerbach went on to produce the song not long after. Everything about the recording and writing process was super organic, plus the energy in that studio is very powerful. I came up with the guitars for ‘Flipside‘ at home in Los Angeles using the BigSky as well. I made a quick video clip and sent it to her phone. We wound up writing the song a couple days later at her house, and then recorded it at a studio later that night. Strymon definitely played a big role in shaping the sound of the record.

    She's a true artist! I love ha

  8. So I saw someone on here write that Lana is like Holiday "Holly" Golightly, but instead a country girl pretending to be an New York socialite, she was the opposite. So that got me thinking:

    Holiday Monroe

    Holly or Holiday Presly

I could actually see Lana choosing something like this at one point.

  9. wow watching live performances of her medley that she did during tour and ALL i can FUCKING think about if IS she sings BLACK MOTHERFUCKING BEAUTY live in its entirety. That build up to the first chorus is chilling.

always praying for more Ultra songs to be featured in the set list  :defeated:  :defeated:  :defeated:

Speaking of Black Beauty, it's the fourth anniversary of Ultraviolence <3

  10. The bitch is lucky that I adore her and the music so much, but I'm never someone to blindly stan an artist, so I noticed that since the festival tour before L4L until now she has been really "lazy" during her shows. I know that no one outside the business can imagine the work, exhaustion and other problems that artists have to go through while touring, but does that justify anything? I feel like (or rather saw it myself during Lolla and LA To The Moon) she's not really singing the majority of her songs anymore, her backing vocals are extremely loud and she lets fan decide what songs to sing that she doesn't remember much of the lyrics from, meaning: less singing... again.

This might be just a phase but I'd love to see her as a vocalist again. Because one of the reason I fell in love with her, was because of what she was capable to do with her voice live. The ad lips, the improvisation.

I know this is old, but I def. agree. Sometimes I feel like Lana's lost her magic a little bit. I still love her but something seems to be missing, something seems to be a little off, know what I mean?

  11. NEW SONGS MIGHT BE RELEASED IN SEPTEMBER!! :woot: Plus a North American tour! I hope it will be extended for us Europeans too. :D

He wrote on his instagram that the ticket sale for the tour starts on 10 AM local time on Thursday June 14, pre-sale code: Hozier. General sale on 10 AM local time, Friday June 15.

He also re-tweeted a link for an interview which includes the lyrics of his upcoming song "Wasteland, Baby!" https://www.npr.org/sections/world-cafe/2018/06/11/618246972/just-around-the-corner-hozier-shares-details-of-his-upcoming-record?utm_source=twitter.com&utm_medium=social&utm_campaign=nprmusic&utm_term=music&utm_content=20180611

About the sound and theme of the album:

I'm glad to see that Hozier is still making music! I haven't heard much from him. Not a die hard fan, but I love his voice.

  12. Yes, those are some of her absolutely most beautiful songs  :defeated: my go-to for when I wanna listen to something dreamy and romantic but still melancholic. I Don't Wanna Go also totally belongs with those songs.

Starry Eyed is probably my favorite tracks! I feel like it's a bit of hopefulness, nostalgia, with a little bit of bitterness and regret. It's one of my go to songs when I'm in a hard place.
