i wasn't being extreme, i was being honest. people don't know the impact of society's ideals. there's nothing wrong with a dress code for a work place, but i was right about women not being hired if they don't wear makeup even if they are suitable applicants. and i'm sorry, but you don't know what it's like to have low self esteem ALL of the time - it's horrible, it drags you down, it stops you having a good quality of life (having no confidence is HORRIBLE). if the world wasn't such a shallow place - people wouldn't feel so fucking low all of the time. this vogue crap is a fantasy, your average woman doesn't look like that - they're all fucking photoshopped. it wouldn't be so bad if they showed a woman with a zit or whatever.

I find what you say to be true, there are other instances where if you wear too much makeup you are considered somewhat of a slut, or a attention getter. (something of that sort). It's like if you're not perfectly in the middle then you are put down in a sense, it's really frustrating and sad. you have to be the perfect cookie cutter or you just wont cut it. just the other day I had a girl in my class explain in depth how I look so much better with a nude lip rather then the red I usually wear...at first I was like oh, thanks... but then I began to think about it and realize just how absolutely not okay that was. Is it okay to tell a someone "Hey you look like crap put some makeup on" NO ITS NOT OKAY. just the same way its not okay to tell someone they wear too much makeup. / rant

edit : I just realized everything I said didn't really have anything to due with lana.. I think Lana is beautiful and we all change up our style from time to time, it's normal and natural

Yes, I also prefer her previous look, but I think she looks great now. CC isn't the only one offended here, and it has nothing to do with personal issues. You're just being a prick, plain and simple. I don't think Lana has ever been a very glamorous person (remember Chuck's comments on her style and her cute&tacky Lizzy days?). I think in her songs she sometimes likes having this glamour persona with big hair and red dresses - and after releasing Born To Die she tried to impersonate it for awhile, but even then she always had her 'street style' when not at events and stuff. Maybe by now she's more confident with her own style, or combining the two together. I don't know, I change my ideas of what would look pretty on me yearly or more often, I'm sure she does too.
 
and whatever people say about her Brit awards look, she looked incredibly beautiful and styled in person
