This is so true. I remember the times when I listened to music and I didn't have a clue about YT views, Spotify streams or Itunes positions and I didn't read any critic's piece. Poor Lana, she is divisive no matter what she does: if she's coming out with an easy pop tune then she's vapid (Pitchfork) if she has complex feelings on world matters than she's pretentious. This woman can't do anything right. I just hope that she doesn't care anymore about these things and she'll do whatever pleases her: like siting with Starboy on the Hollywood H sign

In all seriousness with songs like Love and LFL I cannot imagine that she"ll repeat the promo strategy from the HM era. I think that she"s ready to raise her public profile. Maybe we'll get some tv performances, in Europe at least.

This era is so unpredictable, I didn"t expected a song like LFL tbh. The ideas are just flying around: brujeria, space surfing, preaching to the kids, getting naked on the H sign, eco-queen singing to the trees, literraly anything can happen. This era will be epic

I really like LFL. Abel's voice meshes so well with Lana. I cannot imagine this song witnout Abel, he is capable of MJ type of wonders with his voice

I saw that she dismissed the Entwistle story. In a way is a smart move because she is steering away from controversies. On the other hand, without the story the LFL lyrics make little sense, they feel like a collection of clichés. She said that she didn"t saw any ghosts in her apartment in the H sign but she depicted herself as a ghost in the trailer. I'm not convinced that she didn't know about the story. Her fixation with the H sig,n, climbing on it and living inside as a ghost, is just strange

It's time for her to come out with the video for LFL. The single is losing steam and I hope to understand better the meaning of this song

I didn't payed attention to the story but after reading this I see the lyrics on LFL in a different light
The way that she's a ghost in the trailer. That she's in color and everything else is in bw, including Abel. The retro dress and those strange gloves.

    "Climb up the H
    Of the Hollywood sign, yeah
    In these stolen moments
The world is mine (do it, do it)
    There’s nobody here
Just us together (shut up, shut up)"

    Chills...

Then, we dance on the H
    Of the Hollywood sign, yeah
‘Til we run out of breath
    Gotta dance 'til we die

    Chills...

'Cause we're the masters of our own fate
We're the captains of our own souls
There's no way for us to come away

    Chills...

They say only the good die young
    That just ain't right

There are to many references to this story. That cannot be just coincidence. Someone call Pitchfork...

Always something to complain or fight about on here. Y'all would rather take time to tear each other down (simply over different opinions) than to take time to celebrate

The song has the potential to be a hit but she needs to promote it. Her sales at this point are irrelevant because 80% of the GP doesen't know that she has a tune out. The problem  is with the overall vibe and quality of the album. The Pitchfork review of LFL was rather negative and I agree that the lyrics are just subpar for an album defining title track.

It was a comfortable interview. Just in a couple of years Lana clearly mature a lot, she wouldn't risk any stupid controversies anymore like in the UV era and she would not let some journalist disrespect her again (remember the MAXIM interview?). I'm convinced that she's in total charge of her career now. The praises that they threw each other was unnecessary but there was some interesting bits of information like the Liz Taylor anecdote. I really liked her candid rebuke of her "cringey" interview form the prefame era and I think that she's ready to move on from all the negativity that surrounded her. I hope that she realizes that hiding it's not the answer to the haters but ignoring and confronting them and occasionally acknowledging your mistakes helps to

I'm not a fan of the Weeknd but it's absurd to say that he'll ruin the song. Lana clearly wants to rekindle her crossover appeal after two niche releases and the Weeknd is there to help. She never disappointed me yet with her first single btw.

I'm not concerned with her mainstream success because it’s not my business. She had a shot at pop fame with BTD and she simply refuse it: she couldn’t handle the media scrutiny and she didn’t want to compromise her artistic vision with the taste and expectances of the general public. After all, it's her private decision what kind of a career she wants.

I'm more concerned with her legacy and the way that she's ignored in the US. Caramanica said, in his review of BTD after her SNL performance, that “Her cultural stamp has already been affixed, her biography written in concrete”. Many music fans and people from the music business (fellow artists, journalists) changed their heart regarding Lana (even Caramanica) for the better but many remained stuck in that post SNL evaluation of Lana. Well, SNL and the controversies that surrounded her in 2012 didn’t ended her career, as many predicted, but explain why she retreated in her shell so heavily. Maybe she’s over it and she will promote more this time but I’m highly skeptic of that. So if she will do a low promo, low sales number era again we have to except it because that’s what she is comfortable with. The only thing that matters is the quality of the music, the rest is just a bonus.

PS. I never listened to a song or watched a video because it had big streaming numbers. NA is one of her upbeat songs from BTD with an arguably great video and has only 50 mil views on YT.
