  1. I read what you wrote about feeling blue and how it led you to posting what you were posting on here, and yes, people have said their piece about that –– but I felt like at your core, you were just looking for some connection, and now you can have that without pretending to be an insider! Be you!
  2. Using my username privilege to earn Miss Del Rey her coins!
  3. I bought it on iTunes and it sounds very crisp and clear to me — all the little details are quite audible. I’d recommend it!
  4. The yellow vinyl looks absolutely gorgeous in the pictures people have posted online. 💛 I love how it’s a bit translucent and has this matte look to it! And of course, the sleeves and jacket and gatefold are beautiful. It’s definitely one of my favourite LP designs she’s done, if not my favourite. Can’t wait to receive mine!
  5. I love how classically-arranged this record is. Arcadia and Violets for Roses are so pastoral with their strings and choral soundscapes. The piano on Beautiful and Sweet Carolina is almost impressionistic and reminds me a lot of Debussy. There is just so much I love about this album. I need to save my thoughts for some longer posts about the record’s narrative pieced together + the actual musicianship that accompanies that narrative!
  6. Well, it’s been 3 hours since Blue Banisters came out and I’ve listened to it twice, and all I have to say is…..wow. She really continues to outdo herself. This record is full of lyrical and sonic layers that I know I have yet to unravel — the songwriting is just phenomenal, you listen to it and almost run a visual play in your head of Lana’s life story. The lyrical density of this record has been a long time coming, and I’m so glad she went all the way for it. I see exactly what her vision was for this record and it’s really satisfying to see it fully-realized with older and newer songs that, together, work beautifully to paint a thoughtful self-portrait. I’m completely floored and overwhelmed in the best way possible and will have more coherent, analytical thoughts after a few more listens. But all I know right now is that I’m so in love with this record and it’s absolutely one of her best
  7. You know what, in retrospect, as this thread lives its last half an hour or so — say what you want about @arcadialovesong2018 but they were always so polite to me (???) - if you’re reading this, I appreciate it, you are very kind!!
  8. Me when I’m Lana Del Rey on a John Deere filming a music video in my backyard for the title track of my eighth studio album
  9. Me driving to work tomorrow listening to Blue Banisters and pretending my car is a John Deere
  10. I am in LOVE with the poster! @Elle you need that framed as a hallmark of the site’s impact!
  11. No, I think everyone just sees that the basis on which they review is fallible and has much more to do with image than the actual music.
  12. I am disappointed that no reviewer has mentioned the lyrical complexities of Blue Banisters, Text Book, and Wildflower Wildfire. As far as I’m concerned, those three tracks are some of her best written. I also think it’s strange that nobody has commented on the lyrical continuity throughout? The loose themes of motherhood and family lineage that run between the triple singles, Cherry Blossom, Living Legend, and (I assume, as I haven’t heard it yet) Sweet Carolina are definitely worthy of mention. How embarrassing that critics never seem to focus on the lyrical brilliance and autobiographical dive Lana takes, and instead focus on one-off lines that are meant to provoke and offer a bit of lightness. Context clues & reading between the lines as a listener serve you well!
  13. Critics can be very pretentious. The critiques made in the Guardian review are — I don’t want to say baseless — but the way they go about framing their points is really too much. Even in “positive” reviews, there are a lot of backhanded compliments. It’s as if they feel the need to justify their paying Lana a compliment.
  14. 5 hours until it’s here and I’m revelling in the gorgeous title track + its stunning new visual 🐉
  15. Arcadia is a gorgeous song, I love its arrangement so much. it’s also quite legendary that she would a perform a song like that on television.
  16. So much new merch, as @rommy gratefully mentioned! https://ldrvillage.com/#/category/54/
  17. With just over 8 hours to go until this thread is closed, I just want to say a huge thank you to all my friends and really, all the members who posted in this thread and made it so much fun. I’ve never seen a community come together quite like this, and whether there be fights or petty disagreements, I think that dysfunction is part of the magic (and chaos) that LanaBoards fosters. This year has been huge with both Chemtrails and Blue Banisters coming out and I’ve really had the time of my life talking to everyone about something and someone we’re all so passionate about. I’ve gotten to know a very cellular but real part of so many of you through your thoughts and taste in music and that’s really special and intimate, even if we’re all over the world! That’s what this community is all about and it’s been so amazing to be reminded of that a lot this past year. I’m excited to share thoughts with everyone about the new songs and how they come together to form a brilliant, beautiful, coherent piece of work and just revel in the mind and soul of the legend who is Lana Del Rey! See you all on the other side and sending lots of love to anyone who’s reading this <3
  18. I hate how that review starts off with, “One could argue that one Lana Del Rey album a year is enough. But here we are…” That is so tactless. They make it seem as if the record was like, thrust upon them, or something. No one is forcing you to listen if you don’t want to. So rude!
  19. 22 hours and 39 minutes! (for North Americans, at least. Probably sooner for some of our other friends all over the world! 🌍⚡️)
  20. I love Nikki, she seems like such a genuine and true friend — love seeing some positive talk about her!!!
