I haven't received my vinyl yet since it was shipped on Friday but it turns out the song is actually longer on it - it has almost a minute of flute towards the end and for some reason some of the vocals in the beginning have been cut.

Yeah I watched some of it live and the rest later that night! I just love her and that mask is absolutely beautiful. Too bad they didn't really reveal too much about the album etc. and I got really frustrated with Andrew at times.
-
It's on YouTube as well! I just watched it for the first time and omg it was so beautiful and amazing, gave the song a whole another dimension. Need to watch it again as soon as possible!

Pics from the video. Looks fucking amazing. Really can't wait
-
Btw the video is apparently just Björk and hell of a lot of CGI and the dress she's wearing took overall about 870 hours to make. There are some clips of the video circulating on Instagram and it looks stunning and some have said that it's her best video in years, I can't wait to see the full thing on Monday in high quality!

Björk and Andrew had a live interview on Facebook and the video's coming online on monday, Björk specifically said that it's her album even though she's written and produced it with Arca and the record's title is Utopia for now because she likes how it's such a cliché but she could change her mind about it. I'm very satisfied with the current title

Actually my intention wasn't to make it sound like the simple production and silent parts are for Arca to blame, sorry if it came out like that - I was merely just mentioning him aside. I'll check those tracks out sometime. Start off with (in tracklist order, my highlights underlined) Debut: Human Behaviour, Violently Happy, Play Dead Post: Army of Me, Hyperballad, It's Oh So Quiet, Enjoy Homogenic*: Hunter, Jóga, Bachelorette, 5 Years, Pluto Vespertine: Hidden Place, Pagan Poetry Medúlla: Where Is The Line, Oceania, Mouth's Cradle, Triumph of a Heart Volta: Wanderlust, Vertebræ by Vertebræ, Declare Independence - Earth Intruders and Innocence if you want something with a "pop" kinda vibe Biophilia: Crystalline, Virus, Mutual Core Vulnicura*: Stonemilker, Lionsong, History of Touches, Notget, Mouth Mantra, Quicksand *my favorites --- Yay it's midnight here now so in addition to pre-ordering both the album and the vinyl single, I can now also pay for the digital single. Seriously tho. Support the artists you love, people.

The song definitely is something to digest for sure so I understand why lots of people seem to be underwhelmed. The simplicity of the production and the silence at times seem to be some of the biggest reasons why people are having problems with this one, many pointing their fingers at Arca. I'm not taking any part in that conversation though, since I haven't really listened to his own music and when I tried listening to his most recent album, I just felt like I wasn't in the right mood for it so I didn't even listen a single track in full. So I don't really even care how much of The Gate is Arca and how much of it is Björk herself, and even though it's Arca who has apparently encouraged her to go for this kind of direction, for now I put all my trust and faith in her decision-making abilities. The Gate probably doesn't quite work on its own as a single, but to me it sounds like the perfect opening track for the new record and a good transitioning from Vulnicura. Yes, Vulnicura was a very personal and intimate record but The Gate is definitely an intimate song as well. Even though Vulnicura's lyrics, compositions etc. are very heart-rending - in a very positive way, jfc I love the record so, so so much I can't even describe it -, this time the weight of the song is pretty much all on her vocals alone because of the simplicity of the production. I can't even imagine how intimate and magical it would feel like to experience the song live, seeing and hearing her put her heart out in these lyrics and vocals without Vulnicura-like rich compositions. I'm currently on my 16th listen and even though I think I now quite like and enjoy the song, I still quite hope we'd get at least one song more before the album release in November. 2 months of waiting with a song like this doesn't sound nor feel very thrilling, so I'd like for them to put out something more "radio friendly" - which isn't a word in Björk's dictionary, I know -, most preferably the "crushing jackhammer rhytm" one produced by Rabit which I think at the moment is the one I'm looking forward to the most. Still can't wait to get my vinyl single in the mail tho

Lyrics Currently listening for the second third time, this time with my headphones on. It's definitely something else entirely, I wasn't really expecting a choir on this one and when the woodwinds first hit I thought they were a bit funny. But I just love the light beats and the other effects as well. The lyrics are also nice, maybe a bit too repetitive for almost a 7-minute song but I'm loving how they're sort of a direct continuation to Vulnicura with the wound references, so I guess this one will be the one to open the new record. The song is definitely light and I think it's a grower. The bashing on 4um is totally unnecessary in my opinion, but I have to admit that I also like the second part of the song more.

Oh come on if they really had released Best American Record and a video for it with this exact material - and even more from the shoot -, it would be a sacrilegious act even more. Even BAR couldn't make this acceptable.

Well it's official. Her weakest music video to date.
-
The track will premiere this Friday on BBC Radio 6 Music!
-
Okay girl but based on what we've seen so far, I very much doubt that her messy team has any valid reason for the post-production of this one taking like what, six months? Especially if it's the same length as the song.
-
Took her long enough

The Gate vinyl single in process! Can't wait to hear the track and especially can't wait to get my vinyl Some people on 4um have been analyzing that the song could be a long one by the look of the vinyl, and apparently Andrew also commented on Instagram that the video will definitely be online soon!

Ouch that hurt, music and films being my two biggest passions You should check out Moonlight, The Revenant, Still Alice, Interstellar, Mad Max - Fury Road, Gravity and Ex Machina - these are some of my faves and first ones to cross my mind right now. Though I'd also recommend Arrival - someone here it saw it earlier this year but I can't remember who -, Jackie, Elle, Dunkirk and La La Land. I enjoyed all of them a lot, and Isabelle Huppert was amazing in Elle which I saw a couple of weeks back. I see you've watched Melancholia, so I'd also recommend Lars von Trier's Nymphomaniac, it's not an easy one especially if you're not watching it in the two volumes but in full (4 hours) but I first saw it early 2015 and there's still something engaging about it. And while we're at it, The Lobster. My boyfriend and I go to the cinema quite frequently and this year we've went to see 13 films so far, Handmaiden tomorrow and another 2 on Friday which I'm really excited about, most of all because the second one we're seeing is Darren Aronofsky's mother! and I've been looking forward to it for quite some time. I'm doing my best to avoid spoilers but from what I've heard it could be one of this year's most distressing and sickening films - and for some reason that just makes me want to see it even more. Now I'm not into hardcore gore and shit but psychological thrillers are the best and I really love Black Swan so my hopes are quite high at this point. Other recent/upcoming films I also have on my watchlist are Get Out, It Comes at Night, Justice League, Nocturnal Animals, Thor: Ragnarok, The Enchanted, A Cure for Wellness, Murder on the Orient Express, All Eyez on Me and The Killing of a Sacred Deer just to name some. I made a Letterboxd account 2,5 years ago and since then I've watched 464 films, 120 in these last 9 months.

Yes. Do you agree that Star Wars franchise is overrated?

I haven't really been friends with 6 to 10-minute songs before but I love the ones on Vulnicura so much that for once I'm actually here for them. And I'm happy with the number of tracks being around 9-10, obviously wouldn't mind if the record had even more. Vulnicura length is pretty good. Rather than focusing on the word Tinder like many others and the media especially, personally I find the concept of search for utopia a lot more intriguing. The record's not just about falling in love again and finding the right person, it seems like it's a lot more multi-layered than that and that's what I'm more interested in, rather than thinking of this album being just a "dating" one which in her case is somewhat an underestimating word in my opinion. I'm very interested in seeing how she manages to put all these multi-layered themes and metaphors together in the lyrics when in her words, "in this album the words are secondary". I'm so in love with the part "the idea behind it is to sit in the clouds and design a world - so there is a lot of wind and air around you". With the bird songs also appearing between tracks, I'm looking very much forward to seeing what kind of a soundscape she and Arca have created. With the direction being something like Batabid - which I love - and Ambergris March like mentioned in the Dazed issue, it'll also be interesting what kind of a track the one produced by Rabit will be, as it's been described to provide "a crushing jackhammer rhytm". I could imagine it being one with those more cynical lyrics about utopia and the longing for it, but we'll see! Do you think we could get the video for The Gate shortly after the premiere and the release of the track? To be honest I wouldn't be surprised if they procrastinated with it for some time before putting it up online...

November's definitely not "very soon" in my dictionary but I guess I'm fine with November. Hoping they'll drop a second single before the release tho.

Exactly. Just look how Tropico turned out... there's definitely a reason why people got quickly over it. -
