  1. he is a douche but some of his songs r cool B)
  2. I hadn't seen this one, thanks for posting! I like that she talks about her waitress-ing days at Ruby Tuesdays <3 Also, I wonder what her first ~real~ concert was.. surely not Guns 'n Roses??
  3. lol not at all. amy was an addict and had one of the voices of our generation. gaga..well... they can't be compared.
  4. aw shit, I guess he was supposed to become the front man or was an interim for a while but it didn't pan out. well jimmy at least has ties to marilyn for sure (toured with him in '08) and it looks like they didn't exactly see eye to eye. also, ours (jimmy's band) played with guns 'n roses (without axl, of course) for a charity thing once so I'm holding onto this theory hahaha.. It's possible Jimmy didn't like Axl either, because of his friendship with Slash.. wouldn't it be funny if that was Lana's way of getting at him? hahaha http://theroxyonsunset.com/?p=7000 "I did… we’ve been talking back and forth about doing something for years. I’ve always been a big fan of those guys, and Guns N’ Roses" http://www.facebook....198887300176727 Reading some of Jimmy's interviews reminds me of Lana's btw.. just the way he words things very mechanically. He was in Jersey in 08 as well... and worked with Rick Rubin for quite a while and has a good relationship w/ him (He did Lana's 'Ride', not sure if he's done more, I'm not good on the producer stuff.) Local rockstar. Also "Yeah, I don’t ride motorcycles anymore." (2010) http://www.bullz-eye...immy_gnecco.htm
  5. https://soundcloud.c...-dont-even-know Velveteens! If you like hawaiian- indie- ish type of music (awful description), I recommend them. They are so nice and unknown, unsigned and everything.. all homemade. I've been trying to form relationships with a few bands like that just in case they blow up lol.. but I swear I could hear this song being played on an episode of Girls.
  6. something about this girl's hair and makeup style makes me itch... and those glasses..what the f*ck? #mean
  7. I hear "No, everyone knows that I'm a pitbull" instead of amicable.. does anyone else hear that?
  8. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YbvrM6Nj2Ok i looove this it's v relaxing
  9. I listen to Bel Air at least 3 times a day and for some reason I link it to Born to Die and Summertime Sadness. I remember back at LDR.fm, it was said that Summertime Sadness was about a time when someone had died in the summertime, and usually you were supposed to be happy and free in the summer, but she just felt sad. I don't think we ever found receipts for that, it was just on some random site, but it has stuck with me. Anyway, when I hear Bel Air, I think of this scene. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=M4UiYU3NJkA She wants to go back to the times she had with him, and he's waiting to see her in heaven. The gargoyles possibly being people in her life preventing her from hurting herself, or joining him in heaven, she sees them as the enemy because they are keeping her away from her love. Darling, I'm waiting to greet you, come to me baby. I don't want to say Lana attempted suicide, but the idea sort of fits with her lyrics in Heavy Hitter, Jump, etc. You'll remember in the Blue Jeans video as she is going under, she sees black palm trees. Palm trees in black and white, last thing I saw before I died. I was lounging at the Chateau Marmont, glimmering by the swimming pool. ..I overdose, you throw me over your shoulder. And of course, the Summertime Sadness video, with Lana being an angel. Although, who would Jaime King be? Maybe Chuck or Wendy? Where is Wendy? lol That whole video is pretty ambiguous as is, so I guess not a whole lot of meaning can be taken from it. I think that with the person she was with before Jimmy, she had found someone who she could be sober with, and with Jimmy it just wasn't the same and maybe she got back into her addiction with him. I think it was a toxic relationship for the both of them and he was pulling her down with him. She always talks about that one person who she is going to love forever, honoring love even when it is lost, and who she couldn't be with because he "had to leave" and I think the fact that she still mentions him and talks to his mother makes it more likely that he is no longer living. (You wouldn't usually talk about an ex-love like that, out of respect to your current significant other, at least imo) Whether this person was K, or whoever else. I also think the story behind BTD is complete bullshit. If her boyfriend did die, then that was someone really important in her life, and iirc one of her grandmothers passed away, too.. that kind of stuff has to make you wonder about the purpose of living. This is probably all just my own little fiction I've created in my head.. I know a lot of people say when they listen to Bel Air, they instantly get really emotional and I guess I just feel the same. It really is my favorite Lana song, possibly ever. Also, I think Trash is about the record exec. Maybe he had a wife so he had to get her hotel rooms. Used to go to the Comfort Inn.. Remember in Ride, the guy she's with at the hotel room? He's also at the show, standing up and giving her a standing ovation. I was born to be the other woman. I could also see Gods + Monsters being about Jimmy. (However, I could also see this being about her current fame/Bradley Soileau's little twitter rant, etc.) Perhaps she was trying to be sober, but was with him and the "monsters" and relapsed. She was with him while he was in Velvet Revolver, if I have the timeline right. Like a groupie incognito posing as a real singer. At the time, Velvet Revolver was touring with the likes of Marilyn Manson (Marilyn Manson was supposed to become the front man for Velvet Revolver at one point, apparently) + Guns 'N Roses, making it possible that Lana actually knew them before these infamous photos.
  10. ok so I was thinking about this today and I don't know how to describe it or the instrument but i LIVE for this stuff: at 0:03 .. it reminds me of a windmill for some reason. i just love that sound, whatever it is. 2:43-44.. I think that is a flute the yeahyeahyeahyeahyaah sound at 1:50-1:51 makes this song worth listening to and the trumpet (?) in the beginning of gramma and the strings in the album version of lolita.. amazing
  11. every time this video came on i had to watch it, such a perfect song/band etc http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TSe8gE1EHqI my parents were like 90s alt rock junkies so we were always listening to stuff like this, it's like my childhood comes back when I hear this or anything by collective soul ^ this song makes me so happy lol I remember singing it and in hindsight that was so not appropriate. also o-town's liquid dreams
  12. Awwww that's cute!! I love her profile

    Girls

I love this show and I like that the characters aren't necessarily likable, like they all have their flaws. Adam disgusts me though, I'm sorry. Christopher Abbott though >>>>>
  14. I think she gets performance anxiety. I know how nervous I get whenever I make a speech so I can't imagine being an introverted performer. It reminds me of Leonardo Dicaprio. Like everyone always gifs the faces he makes at award shows because they think its his ~anticipation~ for winning an Oscar but he's actually really shy and once said he used to wish he wouldn't win so he wouldn't have to make a speech in front of everyone.
  15. this is a nice interview, so tired of the born to die question though "I think my shyness and my nervousness already became visible in some of my performances. I'm still learning how to deal with that. I keep telling myself to relax on stage, try to feel the music and not to think in what is around me." aww
  16. I don't think it would fit the vibe. Bel air could've been called paradise though, i think. roses, bel air, take me there. palm trees in the light- feels like paradise or something lmao
  17. Her SNL performance garnered a lot of negative feedback and although it was a bad performance, not all of it was warranted. However, she's not the only performer in history to have a bad go at SNL, I thought it was so stupid people were calling it the "worst outing ever"- had they not seen Ashlee Simpson's first go or Ke$ha?? I must say it was dangerous for her to have performed at SNL so soon, relatively as an unknown- this would be many people's first impression of her- and it wasn't a good one, so I think some people were ready to write her off as another talent-less girl with a rich daddy to fund her career. In a way though, the SNL critics helped people start talking about her, maybe not in the way she wanted, but she got our attention. She needs to remember that not all of her critics come from the US, she has so many fans here, and that not everyone is going to love her music and that's their right. Her grudge on the US is ridiculous and it really annoys me when I see people talk shit about the US just because Lana does...try thinking independently. Also, I think she sometimes acts like she is too good for US radio, above all of the pop that dominates the airwaves. However, pop has been the forefront in music for quite some time and if she actually wanted to get more airplay, she needs to look at her label because they really fucked her in promotion. (Don't tell me Lana Del Rey cannot play in the states when Phillip Phillips and Christina Perri chart) So no, Lana, maybe your lack of success here (which isn't even true since she has one of the best selling albums in the US) is not due to the fact that the US doesn't understand good music (way to be humble btw), maybe it's because of your shitty label and lack of drive. ~~God Bless America~~
