As in her country album?!? I’m partly kidding, I totally know what you mean. I have hope that the one after the covers/country could be more upbeat. I’m still curious about Loved You Then and Now (it must sound very different if it didn’t make the cut of the last two albums) and if she’ll keep on working with Mike Dean (please let him go loose on production next time).

Yeah I don’t know which insider, but it was apparently considered for this record at some point (Lanapedia mentions it on the VOTD page). It was also a possibility for NFR. As far as we know, no new version has been recorded, so I guess it wasn’t considered for very long in either cases.

I never cared much for Halsey until her latest, which I love. I really like Billie although she is not Lana IMO. To each its own: everybody has the right to love someone or not, and as you get older, numbers never matter as much as how much you connect with an album. But their damn hardcore fans that think that only theirs is the best and shit all over female singers is annoying AF (and really unfair to Lana, which inspired so many of them). This! The beat also reminds me a lot of the drumming in The Blackest Day

I’ll add to that that Billie and Halsey both have strong pop vibes to their « alt », which helps them get played on radio (by the way, no way Halsey could have released her latest in the beginning, it’s her least «accessible » album to date). Lana is a singer songwriter. What she does is art, with very little consideration in making her songs sound like « singles ». She is bold to keep on doing music that she loves without seeking a commercial sound. And yeah, she is incredibly successful when you line up the facts like you did!

Bah who cares? The new Billboard rules are stupid AF and sure were never meant to be in a pandemic situation, with vinyls getting delayed for every artist and with a jammed-packed fall schedule. Lorde had the good idea to release before the big fall rush. But in the end, even for GP, We all know which album is superior I love all of those songs, but I had never noticed that there wasn’t a clear « successor » to those on BB… That’s how good this freaking album is.

I’m glad the song found its way through you This song was always in my top 5 of her unreleased When she sings the ooooooohh part in harmony, it’s some of her best vocal deliveries ever. I always pictured myself listening to that song on the beach, by a bonfire. It’s so magical.

NOTG, LL, CB sound good on Apple Music. I don’t pretend to be the best at hearing all the differences / mistakes on a song, but those three might sound not as clear as the rest of the album (a tad), but the end of WFWF (where the production is intentionally more « blurry ») makes the transition just fine.

To me, BB has two parts: from TB to WFWF, and the last four songs. It’s clearly not a cohesive album in terms of storyline, but the previously leaked songs do fit the rest of the themes of the newer stuff: NotG is linked to the mythology of Arcadia and has another blue reference; Living Legend is about her chosen mother because her biological one treated her poorly (WFWF and BBS); Cherry Blossom is a lullaby to her daughter while Sweet Carolina is a lullaby to her sister. Chemtrails was all about being on pause and reflecting on her craft, her art; BB is being on pause and reflecting on her past traumas and present dramas in order to heal. Reflecting on your past is rarely cohesive and linear lol, which makes the album « work » in its random tableaux.

Kinda disagree on that one, though I love Arcadia. The main theme of this album, to me, is healing and in no way is it better expressed than on BB. Plus there is the word blue on it, that transcends the whole album. To me, BB was the perfect album title choice. edit: ok, just reread the whole thing and we’re saying the same thing

Are you BOZ? i Love Fine China, but Beautiful is a stellar track to me… I just wish she had put the string version on streaming.

Since it’s a tradition… let’s talk about LDR9 already I hope she sticks with the country + cover concept. Probably because I am still iffy about her doing country, but I must say that if she sticks with Zach, it could be interesting. Him and his team just are geniuses. Plus there are a couple of « light country » elements already on BB, so it could end up being a good album.

Lana is and has always been an album songwriter and her whole discography is the different stages of her life. To me, critics and scores aren’t the big picture in the end. BB might not score as high as Norman or even Chemtrails (although I prefer BB to COCC), but in a couple of years, their vision of this album might completely change, just like BTD got a much higher score 10 years later. I love how healing is the core of this album… and it already got me wondering what LDR9 will be about… Good thing we’re getting a cover album in between, so she might have longer to see what she wants the next one to be about.’ Your POV is interesting. To me, BB is all about healing… which can be painful, but there’s a lot of light at the end of the tunnel that I feel on this album.

I finally heard the string version of Beautiful… What are they waiting for to include it on streaming? It just adds another depth to that gorgeous track. I heard it could en up on damn vinyls?

BB is incredible. In a couple of weeks, I’ll go back to Chemtrails since both albums seem to be about family / chosen family in a way. Love BB and it’s my top 2 album from her, alongside UV and HM. If You Lie Down With Me is a masterpiece. BBS is just so chaotically incredible and représentative of the times we are living in. Thunder feels brand new. Dealer is straight up UV juice. Beautiful and Violets are two of her catchiest melodies ever. it’s the last songs that I connect a little less because they are so specific, but beautiful as well. We made it, guys!

I’m obsessed with tracks 4 to 12, replaying them over and over. And then I remember that BB, TB and Arcadia all are on that same album… It truly is one of her best.

The string arrangements on this album are on par with what Dan Heath does. Love this album more and more with each listen.

Bah reviews are one thing. to me, this album is in her top 2, maybe as good as Norman (a couple of months will tell me). I do agree though that it’s the sister album to Chemtrails. But other than that, I don’t completely agree with many points. one thing stands out on Bb: she plays with her voice so much more and on so many songs.

I’m surprised I liked that MV that much. Her teaser yesterday didn’t look like much, but it’s so good. and yeah, maybe Thunder has a choice of becoming a single after all (always thought it was wishful thinking rather than real possibility)
