Time for my two cents between two posts about foot fetish 🙄😬😬 In no way is this her best vocal performance (she almost doesn’t sound like herself, I wonder how it was recorded, if it’s just one take, etc.), but he sounds incredible, and the fact that they are no longer together makes this song so achingly haunting and tragically beautiful.

"American Standards & Classics" Cover Album - Pre-Pre-Release Thread
GeminiLanaFan replied to Elle's topic in New Releases
I really hope she includes The Good Life on this. It’s one of my fave from her. -
Lol this is fake. I Can Fly.. again?!? I’m really curious about the country direction of the cover/country album, if it is going to be very country or « light » production-wise. WFWF has some country-ish sounds in the prod, same with If You Lie Down With Me, Text Book… Wait for Life also was a bit country. If it’s the direction she goes with, Fine China is, IMO, her most lyrically country song, and it could fit on that album, pretty much as is.

You’re totally right! My bad

I’m still wondering if Justin Parker’s Story, on his way to work with Mike Dean, is related to Lana… If, by country, she goes in the direction of « synth-country » like the last minute of WFWF, this will be epic. Maybe she will rework Wild One…

I think LDR9 is the cover + countryish record lol as for the poetry, she did say it was coming but that it was complicated because it was really « dense » material… (in her latest livestream). I’m not expecting an audiobook or a new poetry book until next fall (apparently Leather Patent / Sylvia was just the beginning of the damn thing)

Things You Only Get If You’re A Lana Stan

You’re probably right. I should revisit her at some point, and listen to the albums she put out since. A first album is not a whole career after all.

it should be mandatory, at this point, to revisit Chemtrails (the yin part of the project) now that we have the « yang album » that is BB. -

I don’t have the ear most of you have for this sorta things (as in the NFR era, when everybody was picking at the production flaws that I never heard). I listen to the album on my good headphones, on Apple Music, and I might hear a slight difference with the rest of the album, but it’s not that major (it’s always better than the mp3 quality that I had, I must say). -

I love the lyrics of WFWF, I love the last minute, minute and a half of it, but it’s the second verse that is a bit « lacking » to me. It needs a little extra, production-wise. Maybe I have high standards for this one because Mike Dean got involved on it. It could be my only « regret-ish » for this album, but that song is still amazing, maybe not as amazing as the other ones. But again, lyrically, it is some of her best work. apparently, Nectar, Cherry Blossom and Living Legends are all YouTube rips -
I saw Melanie once, after her first album, when she was part of Osheaga / Coachella festivals. I didn’t know her and I sure wasn’t there for her show, but she was starting the day, so I took a peak. And what could I say except: What the actual fuck? The creepy circus / dollhouse theme has run its course, it’s not original anymore and she keeps on running with it for how many albums now?!? Gurl, just no. (this thread is highly therapeutic, I must say)

I’m not 100% sure what it’s about either. but it’s safe to assume it’s about two things, like so many of her songs. To me, it’s about saying to her lover that felt through what she wanted, that she won’t miss him, but I also think this is her revenge song, to all of her detractors: you talked shit about me, and yet I’m successful. At least, that’s my interpretation of the song. -

The strings and the horns are everything. It was on repeat yesterday, as I was a strolling through the park, on a beautiful sunny afternoon. It was such an experience. -
Ariana Grande is a waste of talent IMO. Great voice, but her songs are annoying AF: the sexed-up slutty lyrics (on almost every damn song), I can’t, plus she often breaks the flow of a song that was starting promising with some weird beat / or insignificant false rap phrase. she’s just not for me.

Gurl, same. 30 will be the « make it or break it » point for me. I love how soulful her voice can be, but her lyrics have become so boring…

Totally true. But I guess that with a smaller number of fans, there aren’t that many bad comments, especially since she created that account in 2014 (the fans that got in back then are probably still fans today). Another thing that must be liberating, about posting on the HM account, is that I don’t think there is any major publication that are in, unlike her Lana one, where they would publish everything she posted. anyways, I think she got back to what she initially wanted with her HM account: to let us in a bit on her world, sharing whatever she wanted, whenever she wanted. She seems very free and happy these days, and I love it (i don’t think she ever posted that frequently on her other account).

Do we know why Dealer doesn’t have the « feat. Miles Kane » mention? She always did put the other artist.s’s name.s on all of her collabs… -

It truly is gorgeous… however, the piano melody is the best on the official version. She needs to combine the two!!! -

After two weeks on repeat, I have some questions: - Is the truck the guy in Violets wanted in exchange for Roses the same as in Bartender? - is Angelina an unborn child she had in the past? (The song becomes spookily interesting if you listen to it like the kid is a ghost) - did Chuck end up having Baby blues after Phoenix was born? - is there a third and perfect version of Beautiful, combining the perfect piano of the official release and the strings of the « demo » version that leaked? -
Life Is Beautiful. I never thought I’d hear it unless she decided to release it, and I was wondering if there even was a full version of it. It was a moment when it leaked. The Good Life is probably my fave moment: I’ve been in awe since the first snippet. It’s a gorgeous cover that reminds me UV so much. I hope she includes it on her cover album. When it leaked, it was the beginning of the pandemic and lockdown: the lyrics hit so much at that time.

As in her country album?!? I’m partly kidding, I totally know what you mean. I have hope that the one after the covers/country could be more upbeat. I’m still curious about Loved You Then and Now (it must sound very different if it didn’t make the cut of the last two albums) and if she’ll keep on working with Mike Dean (please let him go loose on production next time).
