Say Yes to Heaven feat Rob
-
Although Ocean Blvd is her longest album, it feels somewhat shorter than Lust for Life. Ocean Blvd is really well-balanced with the tracklist and it switches up at the right moment. Heck, Fingertips and Kintsugi almost feel like they are 4 minutes. Same with A&W. the only track that should have been shortened is the Judas Smith interlude. But all of the other songs go by so fast.

Oh yeah, she did have many outfits in that one… so maybe it’s just for one song after all (won’t complain: I didn’t even think we’d get one MV this era).
-
If we only get one MV, five looks would be a lot!!

I don’t think we’ll get 5 MV… but a double MV with A&W or Paris Texas /Candy Necklace seems realistic. Five looks in total…

80 is actually pretty good, considering that most critics aren’t fans of the artist they rate. anyways, just like the Grammy’s, critics to her albums don’t really « matter » overall: she is one of the best singer-songwriter out there and each of her albums are a chapter and a part of her life. At the end of her career, this is what the focus will be on : the larger picture she depicted and how each album is a part of that.

Watch Sweet and the other songs that aren’t as high right now on the ranking become new favourites in the months to come seriously, Sweet is so beautiful even if it’s easy to overlook it because of the other two « book end » tracks that are OB and A&W. she sure gave us an album that has a lot of replay value

Judas Smith interlude… I’ll put aside my personal history to be somewhat « more objective » about it. my two problems with it are : - his tone of voice : the yelling preaching tone makes me completely shut down to what was said. - did it have to be damn long? Like couldn’t they chop a minute or two? I read the « lyrics » to it and it’s not that bad (nothing really offensive there for anyone), but it’s a bit all over the place. It would have been so easy to remove a couple of parts of it. hats off to Jack for the instrumentation though.
