yeah i don't get black and white cover vibes from the project at all so it's super disappointing. thankfully we just got a new album with an artwork change to ridicule soon though

2015 - Original release, I think it was replaced due to a dispute over image rights with the artist. shortly after release until 2022(?) - replaced with back cover 2022-2023 Only Girl music video screencap 1 2023-present - Black and white Only Girl music video screencap Note: Licensed through Geffen Records, "Know What I Want" absent on tracklist and now we're here. Queen of giving us new covers throughout the years and absolutely no official physicals whatsoever!

& regarding comments over the album, I think this is definitely her most cohesive album yet. It’s definitely not as instant to the average listener compared to Isolation because it’s a very dense project with midtempo material only. However to me, this is exactly the type of music I live for so I have no problems eating it up lol For the rest of you, i’m certain it will unravel over time or after a couple more listens. It’s a very excellent body of work and she should be proud. Also it’s refreshing to finally get an R&B album that isn’t all about toxic love or heartbreak etc. (no shade) I’m sure the spanish album will have more uptempo moments than this project too, so I am not worried in the slightest. She knows what she’s doing!

my vinyl arrived today! the pressing is stunning but unfortunately it's not a gatefold as she promised... The cover is a bit more lowered than the digital version which is interesting, still cute tho!

so there's a new version of Por Vida licensed through her new label Geffen records, with a new black and white cover and Know What I Want removed... https://music.apple.com/us/album/por-vida/1674695912

perhaps only for the red vinyl version?
-
wait she’s being consistently dragged on twitter for dating alleged rapists, what’s going on?

I will admit i don’t identify with the spirituality part of that post but I think she definitely had a good point lying somewhere in the message. The way it’s been debunked that the origin of the word alcohol in fact isn’t what she translated to is indeed a kii. This is lowkey slightly giving me Azealia teas ddd

you guys are really annoying, people can change. anywho these album track descriptors are making it sound like AOTY Red Moon in Venus is Uchis’ most immersive project yet—a bottomless plunge into the waters of love and loss. The fluid groove of “Blue” feels like a Sade B-side, while “Love Between” weaves doo-*** nostalgia into crystalline romantic reverie. Often, it’s her smoldering voice that holds all the dreaminess together. When Uchis sings, it feels incantatory, calling on a long vocal genealogy of femme softness and grief. On the album’s lead single “I Wish you Roses,” you can hear the lissome ethereality of soul legend Minnie Riperton, but also the low, plangent melancholy of jazz titan Sarah Vaughan. “Deserve Me,” featuring Summer Walker, holds the hard-won knowingness of Afro-Cuban star La Lupe, with hints of Brandy’s cool self-assurance. It’s never maximalist, always utilitarian, molded to fit revenge and desire in equal measure. https://pitchfork.com/features/profile/kali-uchis-red-moon-in-venus-interview/

Sex Talk and Deeper are truly the hidden gems on Problématique

ordered a signed CD since the red vinyl is still sold out, at least I'll still own the OG cover in some way

This is your biggest hit, and first major one without Dr. Luke as a collaborator. People have questioned your working relationship with him. Do you see “Unholy” as a chance to move past it? I’ve always been a songwriter. Anything I’ve done, I’ve been a big part of writing. I’ve always collaborated with different people and producers. Luke is the one person people like to pick out and be like, “This is obviously who has to write all of this girl’s music because she can’t be talented and that’s a big name.” But I am here because I’m good at writing, and I do my sh-t.
