  1. Mmm, he’s married and I don’t think Lana has written much referencing him. Their relationship seemed to have a lot of conflict even though they tried their best to hide it. I feel like she didn’t have that same deep connection she had with Barrie. I think California is more likely about Barrie.
  2. Oddly enough, NFR reminded me of Big Little Lies, but that’s a show not a movie... difficult to decide rn.
  3. Either her team wants her to fail or Lana is going through a phase of self-sabotage because that is so bad how could you even mess that up lmfao
  4. It’s not that bad, it’s just a strange choice in production. I think people are just stuck on the Apple performance because the piano by itself suited the song lyrics more.
  5. Loved it when it first came out, now I think it’s the weakest song on Honeymoon. I don’t hate trap, I just don’t think Rick does it well or does anything much with it.
  6. That’s hard to do- but first three that come to mind: Florence + the Machine, The Doors, Kendrick Lamar
  7. Of any artist? To Pimp a Butterfly. That’s the first that came to mind. Of Lana’s? I prefer Ultraviolence. NFR is a close second.
  8. People keep saying this but I can never see myself changing my mind on LFL.
  9. Yeah, but it suits NFR as a body of work. Heroin doesn’t make sense on an album that has a song like Groupie Love or Coachella. My original point was that NFR is a step in the right direction because even though you may not like the references or elements she uses of her past work, she’s trying *some* new things (there were whole blocks of posts crying about the lack of bridges on these new songs), so it’s unfair to make the claim that she’s not doing anything new or claim it’s a compilation album like LFL when it’s not.
  10. Not really. LFL was more of a compilation album in the way that songs didn’t exactly flow well into each other through sound or subject matter. Tracks like Summer Bummer, Lust For Life, or WTWWAW don’t remind me of any songs from albums before LFL. Songs like Heroin had comparisons to UV, but that doesn’t compare to NFR where she’s working with a different producer and even though she included lyrics that reference her previous work, she has songs like Bartender that are unique in their own way... so...
  11. I never said “compilation”. I said it has elements and that can include songwriting or the way she sings in a particular song.
  12. NFR is far from a compilation album and is more cohesive than LFL.
  13. I think NFR has an element of every album she’s released. Even some of her unreleased material.
  14. Geez, can’t believe I let that short interview interrupt my listening... anyway I reached the end and did anyone talk about the end of Hope?! I couldn’t help smiling. That’s probably Jack talking to Lana after they finished recording the song and I’m so glad they kept that bit in because it’s so sweet. “... ‘cause I had you in my head. Are you real? Are you real? Yeah? Is there any chance I’m just gonna wake up on the floor and this song won’t exist? I’m gonna be very sad. If I wake up and you don’t exist and this song doesn’t exist... Yeah, I hope you’re real.”
  15. Like I said last week, they could've played the full interview. Don't get why they separated it in parts.
  16. It would've been better if she rerecorded a censored version with different lyrics (cuz baby, I love you~). Huge missed opportunity right there.
  17. Ugh omg yes. I've been waiting for a sound like that for years, but I have a feeling it would only happen if their schedules align again.
  18. I wanna say yes, because he came straight to the studio when she called him for Looking For America and the track turned out really beautiful. They probably have made more songs other than those two acoustic songs she performed at the NY show that didn't make it to NFR. She seems really comfortable working with him like she does with Rick, so I wouldn't mind. I like his production. She could revert back to Rick though, it all depends on what direction she's heading in. I can only see her working with a new producer for the album that would follow the next album after this one (if she doesn't take a hiatus by then).
  19. I'll reserve most of my opinions for the post-release thread, but I appreciate Long Song a little more in HQ. I still believe the lyrics could've been stronger though. Currently listening to TNBAR and the new lyrics don't bother me as much anymore. So far the album is really flowing well.
  20. They accidentally placed a different version (demo?) of FIILY but I ain't complaining. It fits this era's messiness, and at least we won't get teased of its existence from people who leak shit in the future.
  21. They cropped it so strangely, but I think it’s so her hand and face wouldn’t be cropped off if they put it in the center... but it could’ve been an image of a portion of the painted background surrounding them... idk.
  22. “I’ve been told”, but by who? Mmm, I won’t believe it until there’s a legitimate source or Lana herself saying it.
