I don’t understand why everyone insisted on talking about the Jimmy Fallon performance in the Chemtrails thread and then insisted on talking about Chemtrails in the Jimmy Fallon thread.. like do you guys just click the first thread you see to make your posts? Anyway, luv u guys so much, but please try to consider if the thread you're posting in best reflects the content of your post before you submit it. (Also, at the risk of sounding too hopeful, I feel that whatever she's singing will be new - whether it be from Chemtrails or from AS&C) xx

The brown-cover lyric bible ugh I purchased one last year and ended up sort of getting scammed. The seller waited like a year to ship it to me & then claimed it got returned to him waterlogged so he threw it out ??? I ended up getting refunded for it but like.. I still would’ve taken the waterlogged book esp since it was signed lol x

Her most recent album No Shame is filled with lovely heartbreaking ballads that are reminiscent of that cover. If you liked that cover, I’d recommend “Family Man” from that album.. “Three” too x

fun fact - 3 years ago, I filmed the movie Blockers w/ John Cena, and during a downtime where they were readjusting the cameras, all of the extras & minor cast were being held in this room in a club (we were filming a prom scene so we were filming in this really nice club in Atlanta.) I had to use the restroom during this break, and for some reason still unknown to me, I left everything in the room - including my phone. & if you know me, my phone is NEVER left behind if I’m going somewhere, but I am quite weird about having phones in a restroom (gross.) So anyway, I left the room and started walking down the corridor. As I was walking, I heard someone playing “Say Something” by A Great Big World on the piano and it was absolutely beautiful, so I peeked my head into the room it was coming from. It was John Cena. All alone in this big empty room was John Cena just vibing on the piano. I stood in the room and watched him play the rest of the song, then clapped when he finished and he smiled at me before starting another song. I still really had to pee though, so I left. When I returned to the holding room I told a friend about what I had just saw and word got around, and some people went to watch him play & there were videos on Snapchat stories and such. I need to hit up some friends from the set to see if anyone still has those videos, because that was so incredible. I just wish I had brought my phone with me when I left for the restroom so I could’ve filmed a little myself, but it was also nice just to soak up that incredible moment. I feel honoured to have watched him play alone though, just me and him - it was pretty surreal tbh. & he’s very talented! Anyway, this could be a lovely music video where John is playing the piano while Lana is singing. Perhaps the acoustic version of “How to Disappear” we’ve all been waiting for.. I digress x

I'm actually very surprised she hasn't collaborated with Lily Allen yet. Lily's been very vocal about wanting to collaborate w/ Marina, even tweeting her about it on occasion. I just know they would make something killer together. I've also been a Lily stan for well over a decade now, and would ascend to the heavens hearing a collaboration w her & another one of my faves x

This is so exciting!! She hasn't really done TV performances since 2012, so I'll be looking forward to this.. I'm interested to know what she will sing like everyone else - I'm assuming either LMLYLAW, Summertime, or something unheard off of Chemtrails/AS&C Also, has this been reliably confirmed anywhere else except for this website? I haven't heard about it anywhere else yet x

thissss lol. I was really going through it when NFR dropped and it essentially defined that mental breakdown for me (which is also why it's now really difficult to listen back to that album) To contribute on the note of UnpopOpins, I think that NFR is actually truly her saddest album. I feel like everyone always goes for Born to Die since that's what defined her as miss "Hollywood Sadcore" or even Ultraviolence, but the songs of NFR are extremely gut-wrenching in their meaning. California, The Greatest, Cinnamon Girl, Happiness is a Butterfly, Hope... all songs that are absolutely heartbreaking, and the sadness is almost.. more genuine, if that makes sense. Like, it's very raw. It's deeper than the songs on other albums in the sense that the pain is really coming out from her heart and soul. It's palpable x The first time I listened to California I was completely fine up until the second half of the chorus ("We'll do whatever you want, travel wherever how far..) and then I just completely burst into a full-blown sob session. It was so sudden and full force, it was like I had just watched someone get shot. While I was crying I was like, what tf just happened?? I was fine literally a second ago?? Whew, that song took me by surprise, and considering the situation I was going through, it hit waaaaaaay way way too close x

ugh sorry. I know I do a lot of janitorial work here, but cleaning sht off the walls is my least favourite part x

Decided I should come back and give my thoughts & track ranking! The album is absolutely incredible. This is the best vocal performance she's delivered thus far. I don't understand a word of Spanish, but that doesn't interfere with my enjoyment of the album. As a writer lyrics are always important to me, so I've looked at English translations for all of the songs so I'm aware of their meaning, but just as important are the melodies. Her melodies here are gorgeous and perfect for her vocals. The production is also great and so complimentary, it's sort of a fusion of the styles from all of her other projects. She just keeps evolving and getting better and better. The only real complaint I have is that I wish some of the songs were longer, because I just didn't want them to end! Also, some of the songs would've been much better without their features, but I know Kali loves collaborating with her friends. Below is my track ranking with #1 being my favourite. Vaya con Dios is a career highlight, one of the best songs she's ever released. Truly after the top 5, it was so incredibly difficult to rank the rest because there wasn't a song I disliked. Those at the bottom of my list are still songs I enjoy and will continue to listen to. That's always the test of a great album, when it becomes hard to decide what you must put at the bottom of your rank x 1 vaya con dios 2. telepatía 3.
