    Wait are you serious?
What exactly screams “top of the charts” about anything on this album??? I know L+F doesn’t follow a theme or concept like her past releases, but to compare it to Katy Perry? That is the biggest reach.

So because there’s no *theme* she no longer values her work/music as art?? Y’all are so self-centered, when you don’t like something it’s complete garbage & not art anymore - lol.

really can't believe Marina got no L+F promo on Lana's instagram at all

Enjoy your life has rly rly started to grow on me. Maybe TMI but I've been having an uphill battle with schizophrenia for over a decade and it just went into remission, so that "your worst days they are over" really hits differently now.

To give insight to my opinion, I've been a hardcore stan since 2012.

And honestly, I was not disappointed with this album. Some of the songs are not really good (I'm looking at you, Superstar.) Some of the lyrics are a bit strange (the 'towels' line in NMS) but as someone mentioned before, it feels reminiscent of her quirky lyrics from TFJ ('we are the spoons...'). Some of the melodies and production feel a little bit repetitive but it's refreshing to see her embracing genuine electropop. I would've liked to see PDCM and TNWWY on the album as I feel they fit more than some of the songs on it but I'm not mad as we have heard parts of both of them.  FEAR>LOVE.

I was at Neon Gold X when she premiered Emotional Machine and honestly, I was a little disappointed, but after hearing the studio version it is definitely a highlight of the album.  I'm so glad that BROODS provided backing vocals for the song and it wasn't just for the live performance.  It adds to much to the song! Life is Strange has been on repeat too (but fuck that cheering sample).  That cello though!  Karma sounds exactly like a Clean Bandit song (almost a WIL reject..) so I wasn't really surprised that Jack produced it.  I could see them pushing that as a single.  I also wish we never got that You snippet last year because I feel like I had expectations for that song that weren't met.  It's a cute little bop though.

I'm not sure how I would rank this against her other albums.  I feel like I don't have an accurate gauge on how to rank them because her first three albums are so overplayed for me that my opinion might be skewed.

Overall, as a hardcore stan, I feel like the four years was worth the wait. This album is the pop album I desperately wanted FROOT to be following EH. I find myself relating to a lot of the themes throughout the album, and that's part of why I love Marina so much.  I do definitely understand the criticism that it's a bit ~basic~ but I do not think basic music is bad.  I love how distinct all 4 albums are, and how cohesive they are.  L+F is extremely cohesive, and I'm happy to see how much she has matured in her thought process and that she has a positive outlook on life now.  I'm happy that she's happy!

The London show was so goooood. Honestly, I know everyone is complaining about it being more simple lyrics and whatever but she just looked so... happy. Her whole family was there, the setlist was really good, in real life the choreo and stuff is properly good. I'm happy for her, especially with the album going to #5. Froot debuted at #10 right?

so marina had a small session the other day which i was lucky enough to attend. it was a q&a and also an element where she sang handmade heaven on the piano whilst going through chord progressions. it was insightful and amazing to see her up close and even get the chance to talk to and get a photo with her. there's photos and the q&a highlights on there:

ALSO i just came back from the london show and i take back everything i said about the set and the setlist. it was perfect and was such an amazing night!!

Such an abrupt ending to her Q&A

That aside, I noticed something funny about her show the other day! During 'Are You Satisfied' she accidentally sang part of the lyrics to an old demo version of the song, and definitely noticed and was embarrassed!

Here's the old demo line: "High achiever, that is me! & I don't need your weed." rather than "High achiever, don't you see? Baby, nothing comes for free." (1:11)

Here's here slipping up: "High achiever, that is me! -- !!" (0:20)

Because at the time she wrote those songs she didn’t feel that way. She didn’t write Obsessions thinking “in a couple of years I’ll feel differently about this song and I won’t sing it anymore.” She wrote that song cause that’s how she felt at that time. She’s not in the mindset anymore that she was at while writing those songs, but at the time she wrote them she was. People change.

I went to her show last night and it was skinny. She could of sang the alphabet last night and I would of been singing along with her, her live energy hasn't declined imo. However very very very much miss her having a live band - it's almost like Marina, the Karaoke Tour but most of the songs still went off.

every single album cycle, without fail. i wasn't even a stan when EH leaked and i saw how pissed people were that it wasn't TFJ 2.0.

oh my god this has to be a joke... literally people called her a sellout, threatened her, and unstanned because electra didn't sound like TFJ. you guys are doing the EXACT SAME THING, but with L+F. Some even did it with FROOT not sounding like Electra. the amount of hypocrisy is this whole L+F hate train is ungodly.

can yall grip that this is marina?? this is what she is releasing?? if you dont like it, give an ACTUAL REASON and not the BS that is "it dun sounde liek olde marini..." because yall say that EVERY. ALBUM.

The setlist ain't that bad tbh, Are you Satisfied is a good switchup from her usual family jewels songs she performs. She's probably tired of singing the Electra Heart songs at this moment, hence why she is only doing Primadonna and HTBAH, because she can't skip those.

Only thing I'm confused about, what is End of the Earth doing in the Fear part of the show?
  15. cory liked a post in a topic by creditcardromancer in MARINA (and The Diamonds)
I love the entire album beginning to end. The whole thing flows so well, it feels weird to skip the songs. Her voice sounds amazing and the way she writes is poetic but direct. You can really tell she's done a lot of reflection on what it is to be a human and how we are supposed to live our lives and feel and she's being super honest about it.

My personal faves are Karma, Emotional Machine, Superstar, Too Afraid and To Be Human. It's hard to even choose because there are so many amazing songs.

yall need to stop comparing it to her past works..

yall should know by now,,,,, marina isn't make Electra 2.0, FROOT 2.0, or TFJ 2.0 anytime soon. People bitched at her after releasing Electra and it sounded nothing like TFJ, and FROOT sounding nothing like Electra.

Marina does something different for each album. she changed the process. it's not going to be the same. you can still not like it, just give other reasons than "iT DoeSN'T SOunD lIke ELeCtRA/FrOOt/tFj"

the lyrics aren't going to be the same, the sound isn't going to be the same.

That’s a lot of emotions for an album. Criticizing it is fine, but there’s no need to come to this thread every single day to repeat that the album’s bad. It’s honestly not that deep as the multiple essays you wrote. You don’t like the album, others do, I personally love it, it all depends on personal taste. I don’t get what you want us to do, like, do you want us to all tell Marina that the album’s bad so it forces her to make music she doesn’t want to make but that we want to hear? She literally almost quit music all together. Criticizing an album is fine. Saying you don’t like the album is fine. Calling it bland and all that is fine, it’s your opinion, but writing essay after essay about how bad this album is and how she lost her artistic vision gets annoying real fast, because it’s all based on your personal opinion and your personal taste in music. The music she’s making right now is just not for you, just accept it and move on..

L+F is so good, def not a disappointment for me. It's something different than what she has done before. There are some songs that have simple lyrics, but tbh that's not a bad thing, not all songs have to be deep with complex lyrics. Out of the 16 songs I only dislike one, True (i gotta admit the lyrics from True are real corny) But other than True I like each song. I def like FEAR more than LOVE, but my fave song overall is End Of The Earth, a cinematic masterpiece. My fave from FEAR is Believe In Love. Those 2 are honestly 2 of my favorite songs of her in general. I'm so glad Marina didn't actually quit music like she was going to.
