As a whole, alternative pop. Someone like Ellie Goulding fits into this genre as well. People think "pop' is a dirty word, like it discredits someones music, but she is essentially commercial enough to be pop, yet still non-mainstream enough to be an alternative type of artist too. Other names like baroque pop and hollywood sadcore are cute, but also hugely pretentious and not needed. There IS a genre for her, we don't need to create ones. The only "folk" album she has is Sirens, but that only sounds folky because it's unfinished and raw with guitar only.

Agree about Nirvana being overrated. As for her not knowing that much about them, i dunno, bit a silly criticism, i know a few bands who i really like and i've never bothered to learn their history or every fact about them outside of loving a few of their albums.

OMG a few months ago my fat friend and i were driving around town and we hear VG blaring out of someones car, such a random song to play so loud with your windows down. Anyway, we pulled up next to the car at the traffic lights and it was these two Latino thugs, all tattoo'd up, wearing gold chains, listening to this slow dreamy ballad, my friend and i were like

I love all this because it proves she's had a similar vibe as an artist for YEARS. She wasn't created one year ago in a factory because she made her hair brown like some people think. She's had this schtick for ages.
