  2. I still need this. Please show up, Lana It would totally make up for the inevitable Oscar snub.
  3. This was one of the lowest points of being a Lana fan
  4. That was directed at the Merier stan not you. And no, BTD was promoted pretty heavily by Lana standards and had a much more accessible sound. I'm responding to Me. I Am Merier's suggestion that Lana change her sound to something more commercial solely for the purpose of sales. Yes, UV underperformed when compared to BTD (although it has sold more at this stage than BTD had), but when you consider the lack of promo, collapse of sales overall, decidely anti-pop sound...they're still pretty good numbers. And yes, in the long run, I think Ultraviolence will stand out as the magnum opus of her early work because of the exponentially higher quality. Albums like that tend to stick around.
  5. I'd rather that she make a quality, critically-acclaimed album than a sell-out commercial success that will be forgotten in a couple of years. And an alternative album selling 1.2 million (and growing) with zero promo is not a flop.

  8. ^Co-sign. I wish I could find the interview in which Lana said that her cover of The Other Woman was meant to carry over to the next album, insinuating that it would be jazz-inspired.

  11. You guys are going to be sorely disappointed if you're expecting commercial radio hits. Like I already said, she told fans that UV would sound like Blue Jeans and Dark Paradise. I think she just meant that this album would be similar to BTD solely by way of the orchestrations. Judging by the producer and Lana's descriptions thus far, this is going to be a jazz fusion album, or at least jazzy soft rock. I also would not expect a comeback of the hip hop beats. In the interview I listened to yesterday, Heath said they only added the bass to Big Eyes because Harvey suggested it. Otherwise, it would have remained an orchestral indie pop piece.

  14. I did. It was thirty minutes of stuff we already knew. Their collaborative process sounds interesting, though.
  15. I feel like she tried to hint at this (and the end of the UV era) with the Ultraviolence video with lonely bride carrying the funeral flowers. Now the Honeymoon era begins.
  16. Think film noir...40s-50s crime-drama film scores.
  17. Shades of Cool-41 (-) West Coast 39 (+) Perfect top two..I would be fine with either winning.
