Despite my sarcastic rant, I'm withholding final judgement until I see it, but even if it is significantly different than the "Blue Jeans" video, just the mere fact that she's splashing around in the water with Swallow again is exceedingly repetitive and self-derivative. I also just don't understand why she would continue to work with that clown.

Not according to Porcelain. But even if you still believe his story about his tweets being about Jeffree Star, they're incredibly bigoted if interpreted that way. (Despite his gender-bending I believe Jeffree identifies as male. Bradley refers to the object of his ire as "she"/"her", a "bitch", a "speed fairy" and "a no talent diva".) Either way Swallow's an asshole.

Wait, so her concept for this video is splashing in the water with Bradley Soileau? Why not shoot those scenes in black and white too? Shit, why not go all the way and have some exotic predator animals? Maybe even throw in a palatial estate and a bloody, fiery car accident scene to boot. For her next video she should think even further outside the box. Like portraying herself in a relationship with a world leader re-imagined as being of a different race. Or in a homosocial relationship with someone suicidal. Perhaps a massively expensive self-indulgent tryptich that even her biggest fans barely watch more than once. Or maybe just a low-budget DIY video of duck-faced selfies. You know, something completely original. Recycling her lyrics is one thing, but... if there was ever a time to use that horrible language-butchering millenial expression "I can't with it" it would be now, but I just can't with it. Stay tuned for my next hit thread, "Is Ultraviolence just a big rip-off of BTD-era Lana Del Rey?"

MY IMPACT I'm not sure whether this is more vain or paranoid, but what if Ultraviolence is a reference to me as some sort of stand-in for the invasiveness of the fanbase generally? #evilanalysis https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zcCEb_9_Wus -
I doubt it.

Nah, as @@TrailerParkDarling pointed out, the line is ripped off from a trailer for the film True Romance.

Hundred Dollar Bill (Demo and Final Version)
evilentity replied to Your Girl Lana's topic in Unreleased
I thought this already was the consensus opinion on this lyric. I'm surprised it hasn't been changed already. But yeah, I'm pretty sure it's just another example of Lana stretching a word into more syllables than it really is: CON-ST-RUC-TION KING. Generally speaking I think you'll find more reliable information on this forum than on any Lana wiki. But maybe not in this case. -
But she didn't ask for the cigarette, he offered. She took it, or "palmed it". I'm pretty sure I hear a 'P' not a 'B' and the vowel sound is definitely an "aw" not an "uh" sound. Plus it rhymes with "called it".

Nah, Lana's greatest hits album would be called "The Very Bestest of Lana Del Rey". -

Just to be clear, in quoting you I wasn't trying to single you out or ascribe any particular views to you. I just thought your quote provided a good jumping off point for my thoughts on things being expressed lately in the fanbase generally. Sorry to get all pedantic on you, but she actually did say "soon" in the fan video where she said it was coming out May 1. But as I explained earlier in some length, I don't think it's fair to hold her to that. And even if it were fair to do that, considering it's Lana it's still silly to think that would happen. (Not that it couldn't, it's just silly to expect so.) Also, regarding Rob's tweet about the date being "a moving target", that could really mean anything. It could mean it's being moved up before the start of the tour, it could mean it's being pushed back until afterwards, perhaps well afterwards. However, I really think "it's coming you little bitch"-- and "soon". LOL. I'm cynical with Lana and dates, but I think it is excessively cynical to think the album won't come out until late in the year. But I'm just not going to get upset if it doesn't. -
Ultraviolence - Pre-Release Thread
evilentity replied to lflflflflflflflflflf's topic in Retired Pre-Release Threads
I know I'm one of the biggest promulgators of the "Lana is not reliable about dates" notion, but this fanbase is getting really ridiculous about this regarding Ultraviolence. Lana has never given an official date for its release or the release of a single and has no obligation to her fans to do so. She only mentioned a date once (May 1), accidentally to a fan when she didn't realize she was being recorded. I don't think it's fair to hold her to that, but even if we were going to, it's still not even April. It may drop before her tour starts in April, but even if it doesn't I don't think anyone should expect it to. Again, many dates are before May 1 and I don't think we should even hold her to that. I don't think we should even be terribly disappointed if it doesn't come out before the end of her North American tour. (Although I do think it would be fair to criticize if she doesn't at least preview songs from the album during her tour since she indicated the Tropico showings marked the end of the BTD era.) What's even crazier yet is a lot of people have allowed their expectations to get built up by false rumors that clearly had no reliable basis in the first place. All we have is an album title, an off the cuff remark about a release date, some producers' names, a few descriptive words, and tour dates. Everything else is people imposing their own expectations. I know we all hate the word "soon", but this thing is probably going come out relatively soon, it hasn't been that terribly long since her last record came out, and it's not like we haven't had plenty of leaks to tide us over (and don't forget OUAD!). She's one of the most prolific artists out there right now, so I don't see what all the fuss or impatience is about. tl;dr: Y'all need to quit with the thirsty entitlement. I don't see why this wouldn't be reliable. It's an interview so it came out of his own mouth. -

We've all heard the infinite monkey theorem: that given enough time a bunch of monkeys typing at keyboards would eventually reproduce the complete works of Shakespeare. Less impressively, it also occurs to me that they would more quickly produce 100 pages of petulant whining and complete bullshit (and patronizing eye-rolling responses) about a pop star's upcoming album release. -

Minor General Questions that Don't Deserve Their Own Thread
evilentity replied to Monicker's topic in Lana Thoughts
Yeah, that's definitely possible, and the timeline fits well enough. "Lana Rey" could be a shortening of "Lana Rey Del Mar", but it also could be a shortening of "Lana Del Ray/Rey". (She also used to like to shorten "Lana Del Ray" as "L Del Ray"-- see her @columbiancartel and @@drugmoney Twitter accounts and the lyrics to "Hit (It) & Run".) Then again, maybe "Lana Rey" isn't short for anything and was its own step in the evolution of her stage name. One of her MySpace usernames was "lanarey". And let's not forget this blog post by Arthur Lynn. At any rate, from what we know so far I don't think of the "Lana Rey Del Mar" name as any sort of distinct phase, just an idea gestating in her head that eventually evolved into the name "Lana Del Rey". (I do find it interesting that the "Rey" was originally spelled with an 'e' in "Lana Rey Del Mar" but then became an 'a' when she switched to "Lana Del Ray" and then changed back to "Rey" with and 'e'. But then again, this girl couldn't decide on a single spelling of Lizzy either.) It's probably also worth noting that there's no evidence she ever performed any gigs under the name "Lana Rey Del Mar". (FWIW, she doesn't appear to have performed under the name "May Jailer" either. Even at gigs where she likely played May Jailer material, she appears to have gone by her real name.) -
Wait... what? Where did they say this?

I'm not at all suggesting that this would be the case, but how funny would it be if Chuck just took a picture of a piece of plain white paper with plain black text on it for the cover? -
LOL. No, I was just making reference to the fact that she lies about her age.

I have a question for those who have seen her at concert halls/theatres before: I'm also going to the Detroit show. It's 8pm on a Thursday. How early do you think I should get there? If I go in to work early I could leave at 3pm and get there about 6pm. I don't really want to take an entire day off, but I could probably take half the day off, leave at noon, and get there at 3pm. Do you think there would be much advantage for getting closer arriving at 3pm vs. 6pm? Or would there not be much difference because the line would already be pretty long by then?
