Ultraviolence Tracklist Discussion
evilentity replied to lflflflflflflflflflf's topic in Latest News
I'm not saying y'all are wrong about "Florida Kilos" being a "Kill Kill" remake (we'll see), but the evidence seems really thin to me. There are no direct references to Florida or drugs in the lyrics if any at all. And if she were going to remake it and give it a different title, it seems more likely to me that she'd call it "The Ocean" as originally intended.- 897 replies

Ultraviolence Tracklist Discussion

The Huffington Post, January 20, 2009 (Probably the inspiration for HI&R, maybe even "Is It Wrong?") Pitchfork, August 30, 2011 The Quietus, October 4, 2011 Not exactly an admission, but not a denial either. Taken together with her some of her lyrics about desiring fame, sex of a transactional nature, her history of seeing guys in the music industry and taking selfies on their laps, and... well... at people so certain of their skepticism of a tracklisting that was on fucking Amazon. I mean, unless there's a history here I don't know about I would expect they would only put up official information. at people bothered by the title "Fucked My Way Up to the Top". First of all, don't judge it until you hear it. Second, she's made comments in interviews several times before (and in some other song lyrics) hinting she may have tried that approach (with disappointing results), so I'm surprised anyone's surprised by that title. Hmm, I better start preparing a podcast segment for "The Other Woman" in case it's a Nina Simone cover. Also, at my prescience.- 897 replies

Yeah, can someone send me Regina's version of "I Want to Sing" (or all of 11:11 for that matter) in the highest quality available?
-
My favorite parts from the interview: "The hip-hop beats of Born to Die, it's strings and legendary violins are gone... Guitars, rock n roll and soft jazzy vibes—Ultraviolence is here." Hallellujah! "I met [Dan Auerbach] at a strip club in Queens." "She.. adores Kubrick, Tarantino and Lynch." Maybe they'll be some Clockwork references after all. "She even avoids social networks." Keep dreaming about a follow you thirsty bitches. "I don't know any famous celebrity" The Jaime shade... "In my house, everything is always on— television, radio, lights. It helps me to sleep." Television heaven with you. "End of June" Soon.

New 'Ultraviolence' Song Title: "Money, Power, and Glory"
evilentity replied to Sitar's topic in Latest News
God forbid there be diversity on an album... -
@@SitarHero would've had to change his shirt to "EXPLAIN YOURSELVES" plural if Jimmy had opened the shows he went to. Somebody remove this tag, crop it, blow it up huge on the front of a t-shirt and wear it to the show: I'm also only half-joking when I say that I'm hoping for a surprise duet with Spiderman Reeve Carney. Since Lana concerts are just group karaoke sessions anyway, there need to be some impromptu "Jimmy Gnecco" singalongs at these shows between sets or right before Jimmy goes on. Get on it LanaBoarders!

Paradise tour opener: Kassidy Ultraviolence tour opener: Jimmy Gnecco She's just begging us to read something into that. Either Barrie's in trouble or she's trolling us so hard right now and Jimmy's an opportunist. In addition to the obvious "Jimmy Gnecco", they should do a "Saint"/"Put Me in a Movie" medley. And am I as delusional as @@Ultraviolence to hold out a sliver of hope she might do "Yayo" because of this? I'm waiting for Reeve Carney, Arthur Lynn, Steven Mertens, Axl Rose & Marilyn Manson to open her next tour with Mike Mizrahi managing the NY location and Mr. Campbell in attendance.

Frenchies? C'mon, we're not pulling our weight as an English language forum without using the ethnic slur par excellence for the French, the crème de la crème: frogs. Ribbbbbit!

Minor General Questions that Don't Deserve Their Own Thread
evilentity replied to Monicker's topic in Lana Thoughts
Yes, that's where we originally got MH & ASFN in the form of low quality podcast rips, but later we got ASFN in 128kbps with the rest of Sirens and a 160kbps version of MH leaked that was probably originally on her MySpace page. Here's a rundown of the tracks played on Nefarious Bovine Radio: Episode 115 - Pawn Shop Blues (demo) Episode 130 - For K Part 2 (demo) [referred to as "Rehab"] Episode 141 - For K Part 2 (demo) [referred to as "Rehab"] Episode 154 - A Star for Nick Episode 170 - Kill Kill Episode 176 - Yayo Episode 188 - Kill Kill Episode 194 - Put Me in a Movie Episode 201 - Queen of the Gas Station Episode 216 - Raise Me Up Episode 227 - Mermaid Motel Episode 231 - Money Hunny Episode 236 - Raise Me Up Episode 238 - Born to Die Episode 252 - For K, For K Part 2 Episode 258 - Body Electric After that I stopped keeping track. -
Ultraviolence - Pre-Release Thread
evilentity replied to lflflflflflflflflflf's topic in Retired Pre-Release Threads
DMs to who? Are these DMs other people have posted screenshots of? (In which case why not repost/retweet them so we can judge their authenticity?) Or DMs to you/@@lanaboards? No offense, but everything's just a rumor until there's receipts. -
I'm sure you'll be absolutely shocked to see which Doors song she put on this playlist of her favorite songs for BEAT magazine: Wait, before you roll your eyes, she played a different Doors song when she hosted Theft of the Dial on Minnesota Public Radio. I'm sure you'll be impressed with what an obscure, non-cliché track she selected, plucked from the depths of the Doors catalog:
-
There's an app a thread for that.
-
You're gonna have to add a bunch of songs to this list after I finish and air my next covers-themed podcast.
-
Looks great! Eventually, I'd suggest giving each table its own thread (each with its own subsection hopefully if @@iconicldr can be bothered to create them). I also don't really think the Lizzy Grant/Lana Del Rey distinction is that useful or meaningful in terms of her performance history. I do think making a distinction between her shows prior to becoming famous with "Video Games" and shows afterwards is an important distinction, though that's harder to describe succinctly. However, I'm not aware of her performing any shows in 2011 prior to the Grasslands show, so that may allow us a nice shorthand. Perhaps we could rename the Early Shows section "Early Shows: 2006-2010" and denote yours "2011-present". Then we could eliminate the redundancy of her last few early shows where she was already going by Lana Del Rey from your list.
-
NEW LANABOARDS BANNER PLEASE
-
Do we all have to write out the entire lyrics when recommending changes? It clutters up the thread and no one's got time to read through all that to find what's different. Sorry, it's just a pet peeve of mine.
-
I'd actually recommend making a separate list for performances done just for television and another separate list for radio performances.
