They pulled Paradise off of spotify in Germany.. Does anybody know anything about that? Is it still available in other countries? -
The fanbases' reactions are really what makes twitter beefs unbearable. The shit Lana said was mostly childish and cringey which at least makes it kinda funny. Azealia being mean and delusional AS ALWAYS. That woman ended her career all by herself years ago. If somebody with a bigger public support (idk Cardi for example) came for Lana, she prob wouldn't have responded... so let's keep it together and stop praising or demonizing this situation.

You might be thinking of National Anthem's "it's a fact - kiss, kiss"

Norman Fucking Rockwell - Pre-Release Thread

I don't know if anybody mentioned it but the whole second verse and especially the line "I fucked up, I know that, but Jesus..." fits the backlash she got for wanting to attend the Meteor festival quite well. MAC was most likely already finished, but because it just happens to work as a response, she decided to put it out there. That would explain why she didn't plan on having the song on the radio. -

You're onto something here.. I don't know if you guys remember after the tropico premiere, she had this little written piece showing at the end. It said something crazy about her pretending like all the legends she looks up to are still alive and that she talks to them or whatever. I really believe her real world got taken over by her self-created dreamland. Maybe that's why she wants the tattoos removed? Not because she wants to blend in but it reminds her of how dissociated she was. Her tweet "Having a shared agreement on what the basis of reality and truth is is what holds the fabric of civilization together. " kinda plays into it as well. Our girl might have went crazier than we thought. So ready for everything to come though, MAC is so promising! -
To be honest, how gracious of you LMAO

Pls, just let this be a Methamphetamines/Old Money situation instead of another Life is Ugly mess. -
LANALYSIS: Relating Songs To Known/Assumed Relationships

What type of negativity? This thread is full of theories and speculations (which is truly the fun of it). We also discussed her hearing about the story and just being inspired by it. If you don't believe in it (which I don't even really believe in it) that's fine, but you sound like nobody's allowed to post shit on here any more without hacking into her personal data. This thread already dry enough, let people have fun with it. -
Lana the observer, as documentary creator

Are y'all disagreeing or what? This is the truth. I believe it's more of a conflict though between her personal obsession with Hollywood legends and the realization of the illusion and wrongfulness that lays within idolization. A true Gemini. HM and LFL seem to show a different approach. It's more about her telling the listener or society as a whole (instead of just telling herself/sharing her perception) to ditch the concept of fame and glory and finally evolve to a new era of equality in which there is no godly worshipping of selected human beings (celebs). I think this may also relate to her wanting to get rid of her tattoos and blend into the masses. -
I'm baffled how many of you understand her religous lyrics as literal references. Not to say anybody is wrong here, I just assumed the way I feel about it was quite common. I think she has always been agnostic in her work (excluding the cult ridden May Jailer era). She portrays the struggle of every human being to question one's own purpose. God is the only figure whether he exists or only exists as a common fantasy amongst our culture to might have an answer to that. Pawn Shop Blues and Coachella both describe the will to let go of everything earthly imaginable just to get a piece of that universal knowledge of life. Just like Eve she wants to taste the forbidden fruit to gain knowledge even if that results in her losing life/losing eternal life. To me the constant mention of God seems more like a feeling of desperation and the last remaining hope. If there is no heaven, none of us will ever find the true meaning of life. Yet death (and the following encounter with God) seems to be the only way to answer her questions as it is humanly impossible (the Absurd) to figure out what our purpose is. Camus believed to accept the absurdity of life and continue living is the true revolt (contrary to suicide being the revolt against the absurdity) which could relate to songs like L4L. I guess that could be a shift. But then again a lot of her songs give different perspectives on the matter. From claiming one's own human power and dismissing anything above that (Disco/Gods &Monsters) to surrendering completely to the unknown entity (Bel Air/Old Money) or even trying to create heaven on earth (Ride).

Killer, Flight 22 and Gotta Get Up sound most familuar to Por Vida which I love. In My Dreams sounds kinda Indie, the melody is pretty interesting but the lyrics seem corny at times (I had this feeling with a lot of tracks though). Dead To Me and Miami are good tracks. Other than that I just can't get over some of her lyrics They say don't blame the player But he played the game (sigh) They look at me funny when I write a check 'Cause they assumed I would be paying in sex (just... wow) Be the one that everyone likes, just approval 'til they die I'm the one they love to hate (Girl, you don't have more haters than anybody else) At the end of it, I will listen to it but I still prefer Drunken Babble and Por Vida.

What'd God give me a brain for If he won't let me use it? What'd God give me a plan for If he won't help me do it?

LANALYSIS: Relating Songs To Known/Assumed Relationships
MahaMaha replied to Sitar's topic in Lana Thoughts
The real truth is,,there is no such thing as fiction,,,,you live in the infinite universe,,,if you think it or have knowledge of it,,,,it already exists...something that does not exist has no knowledge or memory of.....the past is the present and future,,,,the signal you download today you will process when you sleep and view tomorrow it already happened,, alexis.wright29Stop pretending to be something you are not, just to steal money from the blind poor I might be taking this way too seriously but when all of us can recieve the knowledge of the universe, every expierience or scenario we ever dreamt of already existed, why is it bad to create art about that instead of one's own life expierences? Why are they so mad about Lana stealing somebody's stories or are they mad about her lying about it? -
Lust For Life - Post-Release Discussion Thread + Poll

Bish talking about the song being pulled off the future physical records this is getting out of hand. She keeps reminding us how important that song is. Let's do it, babies, we gotta move outta the black into the blue. Get free! -
I also believe heroin is just a metaphor for fame (Shoot it up straight to the heart pls!). Remember when VG blew up she talked about wanting to be a one-hit-wonder. And after BtD she claimed to have said everything she wanted to say. I believe Lana knew even before she gained recognition how cruel fame could be. Her plan was to make a mark and leave. Hoping to come back as the same person (Chorus). She took the ride because she has been trying for too long being a struggling musician. The whole SNL drama, the backlash it was even worse than she expected (Bridge). I actually think the Mason stuff is also about the stalkers invading her privacy. Topanga ironically is LDR dreamland, everything she sang about pre-fame and probably everything she wanted to be a part of (Verse 1) but none of the people she has met actually represent the community she was longing for (Ride Monologue -> "all my friends are gone" Verse 2 Heroin) The "I'll stay another year" is her wanting to leave this life. The thing is even if she leaves fame behind she won't be the same person "dreaming about heroin" off to a foreign land. She changed and she will never go back. The good thing is instead of changing for the worse she changed for the better(Chorus 2). I believe she matured a lot in the past year or two, she ditched the submissive female being left by my man storyline and there's also no glamourization of drugs or abusive relationships. And I think that was a very conscious decision due to self-reflecting her actions and art. Also Get Free and Heroin are a pair imo. "I'm want to get off but I keep riding the ride" vs. "I want to leave, I'll stay another year" Crowley vs Mason Family

I thought a lot of this was quite obvious especially after Tropico. It's the dark side of the American dream. I always thought that a lot of her music (BtD and Paradise in particular) was about the idolaziation and worshipping of American pop culture and the darkness behind that. Her growing up obsessing over all these Hollywood legends to the point of wanting to become famous herself (Groupie incognito) and then only seeing the cruelty of it all. I mean none of this is really a conspiracy, it's an observation that a lot of us could have and can make. Beyoncé even had a visual in Lemonade "I'm not a God", because that's literally how the public treat her. (Sidenote: Family Feud MV being filmed in a church or the Grammy performsnce. The hypocrisy.) I believe the whole Get Free/COTBR is actually telling the listener to disattach themselves from that kind of worship or generally speaking getting rid of the desire to be like celebrities/live their life (there's no more chasing rainbows -> their arches are illusions). We seek to imitate art, but we should free ourselves from doing so as it is all an illusion.

Men and virgins not believing a rape victim. But what's new.

Transhumanism is so interesting considering Lana's repeating themes of death and afterlife. Especially because she previously talked about how the thought of death or morality scared her even as a young child.

I feel like the interviewer was quite interested in philosophy himself and tried to get a bit more from her than the usual superficial answers she gives about her interests. I don't want to come for our girl but she's probably not as educated as she makes herself seem lmao and therefore she isn't even able to get deeper into abstract subjects or comment on different philosophers.
