Hahaha. He laughed so hard when I read him the album tracklist, and even harder when I told him the original album title. He was like "Is she okay?" ... I was just like "This is why I love Lana interviews." He has taste, his favorite Lana track is White Dress, which I think is kind of odd/unique. The song he's looking most forward to is Taco Truck. I think it's interesting that a lot of people tie the "Jimmy jimmy coco puff" line directly to Nelly, and don't even realize it's an older song.

My brother, who's not a huge Lana fan but is mostly just intrigued/fascinated by her (I'd say he's slowly getting into her music), called me today and mentioned "I listened to A&W this morning since you've been raving about it. It was interesting..." I asked him his review, he said "I got to the 3... 3 and a half minute mark and I just thought to myself... 'This woman is very unsettled...', like, you can tell she's been going through something for a very long time and it's coming to a head... She seems slightly unhinged... And then suddenly, the song morphed into industrial trap and she was rapping an old Nelly track. It was a lot. I think I'll need more time with it." I laughed soooooooooo hard. Lana, our queen...

I need to catch up, so this may have been posted, but I think "Watch Me on Ring" might be one of the titles. Ring is a home security system in the US. To see who's at your front door, or walking around your house, etc. If you're the homeowner you can watch people in real time live on your property. I was guessing the 6 titles would be - Did You Know That There's a Tunnel... - Pearl - Watch Me on Ring - Ring a Bell - Psycho - Lifeguard

exactly plus, one of the things I love about Lana’s more recent music is how unpolished/raw it can be (and still sound good). Studio chatter left in, sounds of drumsticks being put down, laughing, sneezing, vape puffs… it’s just fun. When it sounds this good and works this well, it doesn’t have to be super polished. All the background noise and sound in A&W is really enjoyable and intentional , if you ask me.

i had the same reaction, lmao. is it all in her head? because i haven't seen that at all..... but we love Lana promo. song anticipation ranking: 1. Kintsugi 2. Paris, Texas 3. Fingertips 4. Taco Truck x VB 5. Grandfather please stand on the shoulders of my father while he's deep sea-fishing 6. Margaret 7. Sweet 8. Candy Necklace 9. Peppers 10. Fishtail 11. The Grants 12. Judah Smith Interlude 13. Let The Light In 14. Jon Batiste Interlude her track 1s are always iconic, so idk why i'm not as excited for The Grants. i bet money it's going to be a favorite of mine.

Not you making me think it was up on the store... -
I'm really looking forward to Margaret for some reason. Anything Jack and Lana do together is usually 10/10 for me, and it's 5:38, so I think it'll definitely be a sleeper hit for me. Lana's lengthier songs always hit different. For some reason I'm extremely excited about tracks 8-11. They're the ones I think about most.

I hate circling back to the 1sT HaLf vS 2nD HaLf conversation because a) A&W is clearly one complete song by intention, b) Lana made it that way, and c) the song is amazing as a whole, but my God... I've always wanted Lana to channel her own version of a Hole song. And the main part/1st half is like... 11/10 for me because it so perfectly captures this intimate, dark '90s grunge flavor. The way Jack and Lana made an acoustic guitar sound downright menacing, the lively piano shapeshifting throughout... It's actual perfection, and it's everything I love about current-day Lana. The 2nd part for me is chaotic and boppy and hilarious - I think Lana's a fantastic rapper, actually, and part of what makes A&W so brilliant is the juxtaposition in both parts working together. But it feels like Lana (intentionally) spinning one of her darkest songs into a bop to perhaps distract how dark the song truly is. And I think it's working. I totally agree w/ the "Return to Lizzy Grant era" callouts, but people saying she's deliberately tapped into "Midnights production", or "Melodrama"... totally icks me out for some reason. But maybe that was her aim? Or maybe she just wanted to turn this brutal song into something mocking, sarcastic, and somewhat humorous/fun? (Not saying the 2nd part is super light or sugary or anything, because it isn't.) Idk how to express myself articulately here. Obviously, my main takeaway is that Lana does whatever she wants because she wants to, which is a main reason why I stan. The 2nd part is a 9/10 for me. I can't say I like it more than the 1st part because I don't. But hey, both parts as a whole and it's another easy 10/10 Lana track for me. And I feel very spoiled.

am i the only one that loves the cover art/photo used for A&W? her make up-free candid photos are honestly so beautiful, thinking back to MAC's cover, etc.

Wow. This is actually really exciting to see. She's not one to hype her own material. Seems like she's really proud of this one.- 39 replies
