So I got the grey from her store and the red w alt cover from that Dutch place. I wonder when UO will announce theirs (it’s usually on Fridays, right?) and if it’ll be the same as the alt cover or maybe another alt cover or maybe they’ll just have the standard cover this round. If it’s either another alt cover or the same alt cover just with different coloured vinyl, I’ll probably get another a choose between alternates and keep the other to sell later for once.

I ordered the grey vinyl from the store. If anyone finds the vinyl w the alt cover somewhere that ships to Canada, please let me know asap!

The first card in her reading being the 9 of wands I guess refers to her troubles this past year with qftc and people “cancelling” her for everything. Since the second card in her reading is the ace of pentacles, we can only assume this reading is to do with her upcoming album since that would be the “present” position and the card kinda represents new starts with like work or money type things (new album rollout?), which makes me very nervous about the third card since it makes me believe her album will be received badly and she’ll get a lot of hate maybe? Hopefully I read all that wrong...

This exactly! I like that she’s not all serious and poetic all the time and has those corny moments. They make her songs feel so much more real because none of us are profound all the time. The mix of deep and shallow lyrics is probably what makes her lyrics so appealing.

This is kind of ironic because I found NFR actually had stronger feminine energy than any of her previous albums. She’s gentler and more nurturing and more truly feminine in personality than ever before. In her previous albums she displayed more of that strong unyielding masculine side of her personality while exaggerating a feminine appearance, but this time she really embraced the feminine side of her personality while stripping back her appearance so that the gentleness of her personality could really shine through. Part of me thinks that her strong feminine energy is actually what made straight men give her a break this round, because she’s more gentle and submissive and what they expect women to be.

How bout try looking at it this way: the songs she covers are ones she connects to on a personal level the way we connect to her songs on a personal level and by sharing them with us, she’s letting the songs she’s formed a bond with do the talking for her. It’s less autobiographical, but it almost feels more personal. It’s like her making us a mixtape but she decided to sing the songs herself.

I know this is off-topic, but I’ve seen this claim many times and it’s not true. She announced Violet’s delay on January 4th at 12:28am PST. Yes, it was still way too late to announce a delay since it was the day of, but it wasn’t the following day like it’s been claimed.

Whats funny is I never got Lana vibes from the lyrics of this song, but I did get strong Joni Mitchell vibes, both thematically and from the way she sings it. Feels like it could belong to Song to a Seagull or The Hissing of Summer Lawns. Part of me thinks that’s why it’s my favourite song on Evermore lol.

I feel like her defining cover would be Chelsea Hotel #2 since she’s probably the only person who’s done a good cover of it and she goes back to it often live, so it feels “defining” in that sense.

Ok time to cheer you guys up now since Lana won’t. This may be delayed but remember Zach Dawes is producing this! Since she’s getting COTCC out of the way first, maybe she’s not working with Jack anymore after that. I like his work, but I know a lot of you don’t, so maybe that’s a bright side. Maybe she and Zach Dawes have already started talking about a regular album. Also, think about the back up singers! Think about her band playing on an actual release of hers! Think about the old jazzy numbers we’ll get! Think about the possibility of her saying “daddy” on multiple tracks since that’s ridiculously common in standards! There’s still so much to look forward to. We know Lana is flaky, but please don’t let that ruin your holidays. Just pretend it wasn’t expected for today and it was always gonna follow COTCC.

We know Zach Dawes posted about working on it very recently so I doubt Lana just scrapped it. More likely she decided she wanted it to be a bigger project than originally planned just like with Violet, plus she seems to usually roll out only one project at a time. I wouldn’t fear this album being scrapped just because she didn’t release it today.

I truly do wonder whether this album or behind the iron gates will come out first.... I just hope both at least come out sometime next year and neither is pushed into 2022.

We didn’t get this album today, but we are still definitely getting it. Just like when she announced Chemtrails for September 5th, the date seemed unlikely once she formally announced Violet with the pre-order. Once she announced the Chemtrails pre-order, I kind of assumed this wasn’t coming this week. But I have no doubt in my mind that this will come out next year, and probably in better shape than it would’ve been in today. Don’t lose hope yet

Imagine she “surprise” drops the covers album tonight around 6pm like she did with Summertime..... I don’t think she will, but that would be amazing.

Since Chemtrails is coming soon anyway and I want(need) this project released on vinyl, I’d honestly prefer this. But I wouldn’t say no to a digital copy right away either...

Seeing Lana’s cats warmed my heart so much! I cried through the LMLYLAW video because the Christmas tree and the stockings and the cats were just too heartwarming to handle lol. And she sung Silent Night so beautifully. I like that she’s been using her higher register more lately! Both videos put me in such a holiday mood.

I’m waiting til the end of December and if we haven’t gotten it or heard anything about, I’ll assume it’s been postponed til after Chemtrails. Also if we get anything Chemtrails-related before the month ends (single, video, preorder, etc.), then I’ll assume that’s her non-confrontational way of delaying this project. I wouldn’t even mind if it was delayed as long as it doesn’t get scrapped.

I really really hope we actually get this album. The closer we get, the more I’m worried she’ll delay it. The only time I was ever genuinely upset about a delay was January 4th when she didn’t release Violet and only mentioned the delay that day. And the closer we get to xmas, the more I’m worried it’s gonna be a repeat of that and we won’t get the standards album and she won’t tell us til xmas day. In the back of my head, I have to tell myself it’s not coming to avoid disappointment if it really doesn’t.

I loved the performance. Yeah it wasn’t live live, but that’s how tv performances used to always be. Back in the 60s, artists would have to record a “live” version of their song before tv performances then lip sync to it to avoid any mess-ups and to ensure the performers didn’t sing inappropriate lyrics. So in a way, it felt kinda like a throwback to old tv performances, which totally works for Lana. Plus she looked stunning and the back-up singers added so much to the song. I hope she had them added to Chemtrails last minute.
