  1. 1. Violet Bent Backwards Over the Grass 2. Honeymoon 3. Norman fucking Rockwell! 4. Ultraviolence 5. Lana Del Ray aka Lizzy Grant 6. Paradise 7. Lust for Life 8. Born to Die It does vary from day to day since they’re all enchanting though. And I often wonder where Chemtrails will fall on the ranking...
  2. Oh my, I love that Dorothy doll! (but she’s missing her ruby slippers! oh no!) Is it Lana’s or Charlie’s? Do we know? Also it’s weird they posted a wizard of oz related thing because the title “chemtrails over the country club” has been giving me strong Oz vibes. Y’know what are probably over the rainbow? Chemtrails. Maybe Oz is just America fucked up by chemtrails lol. (And I mean Dorothy is from Kansas and is swept up to Oz and has to find her way back home, which kinda screams Tulsa Jesus Freak vibes. Omg)
  3. I love this poem, I’m so glad she read it for us again. Is this the first time she’s recited it a capella? I honestly can’t wait for Iron Gates, I’m probably more excited for it than Chemtrails at the moment. Tbh I get the most excited when she posts her poetry, it’s like a glimpse at her soul. Also, she looks so pretty in this video (as usual).
  4. Idk, you can exude glamour and femininity without vanity. I personally don’t think those are connected. And I didn’t take “I’m your man” as a specifically gendered statement. Just like “I can be whoever you need me to be”. If anything, her personality on the album was gentler and more nurturing than ever before, so it almost came off as more feminine than her previous work.
  5. NFR always seemed just as feminine and glamorous as all Lana’s other albums to me and I never really understood the argument that it wasn’t.
  6. Omg thank you! I was hoping we’d get a Violet theme. It’s so nice. This’ll make me all smiley every time I see lanaboards lol.
  7. I love Violet from start to finish but the three poems in a row: Past the Bushes Cypress Thriving, Salamander, and Never to Heaven is probably the most special part of the album to me. I will often go back and replay those three poems in a row again at least once before moving on. Idk what it is but they do flow so well into each other sonically and thematically. Sorry if I keep coming back here to rave about this album, I just love it so much.
  8. I’m so overwhelmed by the update. Mobile looks so much nicer but I still don’t know how to do anything lol. It’ll take time to adjust.
  9. I’ve been trying to say this for weeks! Violet was the first audiobook I’ve spent money on bc I always listen to audiobooks on Spotify for free instead. (The Silmarillion is basically always in my recently listened lol.) I still think it’s not on streaming services bc the proceeds are tied to a charity, and generally even charity songs don’t end up on Spotify bc then people won’t buy it if they can listen for free.
  10. Ugh this one is really hard Angels Forever vs Guns and Roses
  11. Love vs Happiness is a Butterfly
  12. Gods & Monsters vs Heroin
  13. I’m so impatient for the physical copies of this to come out. Every time I listen to it, I get so excited to hear it on vinyl. I can imagine future me holding the record sleeve, looking at it close, seeing the back cover, and taking the disc out, and how exciting it’ll all be.
  14. Do you remember the older rumours about her and Dianna Agron? Apparently lots of people used to “connect the dots“ on Red and 1989 for that one. If you’re interested in the kaylor stuff, you’d probably like that too.
  15. I’m still so enchanted with this. I especially love how expressive she is with her voice during Quiet Waiter Blue Forever and What Happened When I Left You. And I love how cryptic and calming the title poem is. And I’m still so in love with Past the Bushes Cypress Thriving, especially when she goes “there you are!”, it just warms my heart so much. Overall, it reminds me of the kind of monologues from classic films, which I could listen to forever. It’s like LA Who Am I To Love You especially has such similar energy to the monologue at the beginning of Valley of the Dolls. And no matter whether people view this project as music or not, Bare Feet on Linoleum could’ve easily closed one of her regular albums and still been a major serve.
  16. As much as I‘ve always thought rereleasing Born to Die with Paradise was kinda stupid, I feel like it was a missed opportunity to not rerelease Norman with Violet because I’m sure lots of people would’ve bought them as a combo and some probably would’ve enjoyed it better that way just like how lots of people prefer Born to Die: The Paradise Edition than either on their own.
  17. Idk if I’m the only but I hear “trade this body for that catholic shit”
  18. Since most non-charity audiobooks are typically on Spotify, I’d assume it’s because it’s connected to charity, so people have more incentive to purchase it if you can’t stream it for free. But then someone did mention audiobooks hit streaming services a few weeks after they’re released, but again, I doubt it’ll go to streaming since it’s connected to charity.
  19. Have you found anything relatively similar? No audiobooks I’ve listened to have been anything like it and I wanna find something similar to listen to.
  20. With references to Eve and the original sin, and mention of Mount Olympus, and referring to her man as evil and from hel, and with fruit on the cover, this project really gives me Persephone vibes.
  21. It always annoys me how much I love this because there’s nothing else like it. The closest I can think of are Joan Baez’s Baptism album or the song “Past, Present and Future“ by The Shangri-La’s, but even those don’t come anywhere close to this. Something about it reminds me of Sgt Pepper a bit but I can’t figure it out since they’re clearly not sonically or thematically similar so who knows with that one lol. I almost hope artists do copy Lana with this bc even though they wouldn’t be as good, there would be more of these lol. If anyone can think of anything they feel is similar in anyway (even if you can’t figure out why), let me know bc I’m so obsessed with Violet right now. Ugh I can’t wait til her other poetry album.
  22. Probably because it’s going to charity, but idk. Some people have said audiobooks come out Spotify on Friday’s like a week or two after the initial release but idk bc I’ve never waited for one. Some people think it’ll go to streaming in October though when the physical copies are released. But they might wanna keep it exclusive since it’s connected to a charity though. I actually like that it’s exclusive to book apps atm though because it keeps the haters/trolls away unless they wanna pay for it.
  23. This is definitely her witchiest project yet (This was meant about the album, but actually I believe it about the book already too)
  24. Stepped in to say this is 100% her best album. Yes, even better than Honeymoon. The instrumentals have major Twin Peaks vibes and I think I almost prefer her speaking to singing, idk it’s just so soothing and emotional. My very favourite is indeed The Land of 1000 Fires, but Past the Bush Cypress Thriving is a surprising favourite, Sportcruiser is an obvious highlight & Quiet Waiter Blue Forever is so entrancing. Tbh every poem is a highlight. I can’t wait til autumn for the book&vinyl. Now back to listening to it on repeat.
