When you take "you got the music in you" in context it's quite gorgeous. As I said in the lyric thread, she is referencing her sobriety and people saying she's not having fun unless she's drinking but she has found "the music" in this guy that has made her feel alive again. Then she talks about people in the West Coast having their shallow, Hollywood icons (Queen of Saigon reference), but her guy simply has "the music." It's stunning.

I agree that the lyrics aren't the best she's ever written, but they're still better than a lot! And the sexy, ethereal, hypnotic, trippy, beautiful production makes up for it. I think it's out of this world.

    West Coast Lyrics
Down on the West Coast, they got a sayin’
If you’re not drinking, then you’re not playing
But you’ve got the music, you’ve got the music in you
Don’t you?
Down on the West Coast, I get this feeling like it all could happen
That’s why I’m leaving you for the moment, you for the moment
Boy blue.
Yeah you
It’s getting harder to show it
I’m feeling hot to the touch
You say you miss me
And I always say I miss you so much
But something keeps me really quiet
I’m alive, I’m a lush
Your love, your love, your love
    CHORUS
I can see my baby swinging
His parliaments on fire and hands are up . On the balcony and I’m sayin
Ooh baby,
Ooh baby
I’m in love
I can see my sweet boy swayin
He’s crazy [?] my only love.
On the balcony and I’m saying
Ooh baby
Ooh baby
I’m in love
I’m in love
I’m in love
    (Mic check 1,2…)
Down on the west coast, they got their icons
Their silver starlights, their queens of saigons
And you got the music, you got the music in you
Don’t you?
Down on the west coast, they love their movies
Their golden gods and rock-n’-roll groupies
And you got the music, you got the music in you, don’t you?
You push me harder for the way
I’m feeling hot and on fire
I guess I know and how to be and make it feel that much higher
They all say ? boy it’s you I desire
Your love, your love, your love

I love it, and it's not because I'm hearing it for the first time, because sometimes I can get hyped up for music and become immediately disappointed from it (e.g. Swine and Do What U Want by Gaga), I love it because it's so different and I gotta disagree with you here @@Ultraviolence, the transition from the verse to the pre-chorus to the chorus is amazing and it's super beautiful. But I get what you mean, I just think the genre is really really different from what you were expecting. But as a fan of The Black Keys, I hoped she would crossover into more of their gene and she did and I'm really, really happy. I think it's beautiful and super sexy, from the beachy drums to the synths and the guitars, I'm in love, I'm in love, I'm in love...

Ultraviolence's first single 'West Coast' has been confirmed by Lana on Twitter! She also confirmed that the recent leak 'Meet Me In The Pale Moonlight' is not intended for the album and was in fact written and recorded in 2010. Lana: " wrote [MMITPM] for someone else 4 years ago. New single is called West Coast." A release date is yet to be announced.

On Friday 11th April, it was announced that the song will air on radio for the first time on Fearne Cotton's Show on BBC Radio 1 on Monday 14th April between 10:00AM and 12:45PM (British Summer Time). The song will be available to listen to on Spotify when it is officially released. It is unknown if there will be physical copies but it is very likely that it will be released digitally via iTunes before any physicals are available. Lana sang the first two verses acapella on the first date of her tour in Las Vegas and performed the whole song at Coachella.

The song premiered on BBCR1 at 10:40AM (British Summer Time) and Lana uploaded the official audio to her Youtube channel shortly after. Fearne Cotton played the song again that afternoon. The single was released on April 14th in US a few hours after the official audio was uploaded. It was released in the UK the day after on April 15th. The music video was shot in early April and it is directed by Vincent Haycock and stars Lana and Bradley Soileau

Exactly! I'm so curious as well.
When people began  with  the rumors that it would be leaked on march 18, I was like  "omg, please don't do it, I want Lana to release it" and they didn't, but Lana also didn't release anything! I'm so fckin anxious!

I think everyone started their own speculation based on literally anything that had to with music in general. Everyone's desperate lmao
But when the tour dates came out, I took it as promo. Who's to say the single isn't gonna be premiered at the first few tour dates? Isn't that how Body Electric started? Ok, it wasn't a single or done on a tour, but she performed it multiple times before anything substantial came out about Paradise. That's kinda what I think's happening.

When people were finishing buying their tickets, there was a placeholder for the album cover saying "soon." Yes, the word "soon" means nothing in any situation for any artist at this point, but due to Lana's mounting success, they did that for a reason. Her team is going to be smarter about this one, there's no doubt in my mind.

Plus a NA leg to the Paradise Tour would make no sense in any context at this point. She "closed" the era. I would assume it'd remain closed. Part of me thinks this NA leg is promo and then she'll drop UV tour dates for Europe at some point, then come back because the label can see she obviously sold well here.

I don't know how promo works in terms of release dates and tours, but I think everything's happening like it should. We got tour dates out of nowhere and now we have zero official news. They want us to be crazy about this release. And it's working. It'll be out "soon" there's no doubt in my mind that all of this was carefully planned in terms of making us wait with rumors flying all over on Twitter everyday. It's smart.

I was not expecting to type that much. Good byeeeee
