It means music that you would listen to while watching/checking out boys.

Y'all!  I'm not ready to leave the UV era yet tbh.  But I'm ALL HERE for an EP later this year.

Seriously though. Lana is a creative person with a creative mind. Creative people like musicians don't just stop being creative because they recently released an album. OF COURSE she is working (if not just in hear head) on new stuff! Probably collecting inspiration everywhere, everyday. But WHO KNOWS if this is just some lyrics, an actual album, a song or whatever. She just made the mistake of telling us about it.

I do find some similarities too. I think she likes The Smiths. Saw a quote from There Is A Light... in her yfrog album once and it made my day!

At first I thought the article said that - but after reading it twice the article says that the interviewer is drinking a beer with his colleague at the bar and Lana came by and made an ironic remark about their drinking. I don't think she drank a beer with him. But the title of the article is clearly misleading!

Maybe I'm just reading too much into her lyrics sometimes, but when I heard the first verse, I thought of a line from Morrissey's "Dial-a-Cliché"

And you find that you've organized your feelings for people
Who didn't like you then, and do not like you now.

Honestly, I frequently find associations between Morrissey/The Smiths and Lana in their lyrics. Does anyone know if Lana happens to be a fan?

this song is filled with such raw emotion, it's almost ~unlistenable~. the bridge, especially the 'one gun on the table/head shot if you're able' makes me feel so sad. this is the fantastic lyricism of lana that i fell in love with when i first became a fan. i just wish flipside and ith were available on a cd somewhere together.

Why do you prefer the idea of dying over living and why dose it feature in so many songs?

What is your political status/beliefs and would you ever write a song about it e.g a family living on the streets?

What's the most inspiring dream you've ever had and has it affected you in any way?

Why are some pepole being so mean here idk everyones made a mistake here at some point so let it go.#sorrynotsorry for the frozen refrence.

It can very confusing for new fans especially since she's change her style of singing over the years until we've got the lana that we know and love today.

As i said in a past thread we should all help new fans not rip them to bits.

Sorry for the rant though it got me a little worked up.....

Lana covers the new edition of Rolling Stone July 2014. There's a huge article in. I'll try to post it here later ... I don't have the technical possibilities right now.

There's also an article in 'Musikexpress'. www.musikexpress.de

Just to let you know ...

If I were a guy I'd put on my sickest blue jeans, work some rocking tattoos and I'd propose to her tomorrow!

    Oh wow baby wow!

I just got Flipside and Is This Happiness and can definitely see the Cat Power influence there... I am a Cat Power fan (used to listen to her more than now, watched her concert in 2001 and 2008 here in Rio but anyways... ) I picked some similarities before but thought it was in my crazy mind only, until I read Lana cited Chan as one of her influences. Those songs could be in a Cat Power album for sure.

I personally LOVE it. I think it is my fave. Especially the "because you're young, you're wild, you're free, you're dancing circles around me" part. It gets me every time. And the very beginning of song -the guitar notes that actually open the album- sound so classic and classy...

I will have an existential crisis if this isn't at least an EP in the future. I am counting on hearing more about this. Maybe if I send her videos of me dancing to her music it'll give her motive.

Didn't she also say once in a interview that she drops to one knee, or walks down to the crowd because she is so nervous and shaky. So not that's its a deliberate act. But more the idea that she feels I need to get away from the podium for a moment.
    sorry, totally of topic.

A selfish person would not be so kind to her fans... Immature? May be.
    Her imperfections make her beautiful.

"American" is definitely my favorite song by Lana. It has been since I heard it and for the time being this won't change

I have to say Hollywood & Off to the Races are probably my top favorite tracks.

AXL ROSE HUSBAND : Probably one of my favorite songs, it just stung me hard when I first really got into it. Come back to me. Bam, lol
the guitar is just amazing, when she says king and queen its so hauntingly beautiful. shocks me everytime. It's up there, this song

1949 : Ugh, god this song can save me from the worst moods ever, I don't know if anyone likes this song as much as I do, it hurts to listen to, its just so amazing. The lyrics make me sad. (I know I know, the whole thing is literally a direct reference to Lolita, but not all of it.) So you might say the lyrics are unoriginal, but thats not true.
I just relate to this song so goddamn much, it's definitely my favorite song, but i don't want to pick favorites, haha
Whenever i press play and  hear the first guitar chord, it just breaks my heart. i relate to this

BOARDING SCHOOL : I think I like this so much because it reminds me a specific day when i was with my friends. I'm a huge fan of the live version, even though it is cut off.   but its mega cute, the lyrics always make smile though cheap trailer trash.....

PEACE / ALL YOU NEED : damn... nuff said. this song... i think i just really really appreciate it because of its length. the lyrics are incredibly beautiful, i love everything off of sirens and those eps..

honorable mentions...:            drive by, try tonight, how do you know me so well, PRETTY BABY, you, mister,  AVIATION,
kill kill, mermaid hotel, lolita demo, elvis

I just fell in love with Noir . It's funny, cause when I read the lyrics, they seemed stupid (except for the cartoon girl part!)... but when I heard the song, they suddenly made so much sense. It's gonna be one of my faves for sure. Wish that she sang more songs in this crazy bitch character.

Cruel World is becoming one of my favorites from her.  Love the music, vocals, the passion in her voice - ah...

    Hmmm.

    Unreleased:
I really love Serial Killer because, it's easy to play on guitar and a great metaphor. I mean I doubt that she was actually a serial killer it's obviously a metaphor for something along the lines of being obsessed with someone which is evident in a lot of her songs.

Prom Song Gone Wrong, Gogo Dancer, Never Let Me Go, Driving In Cars With Boys (demo version) some of my other favorite unreleased tracks from her.

    Born to Die:
My favorite on her debut album as Lana Del Rey has to be Lolita. It's a great jam to shake your booty to and it got me through a lot of dirty dishes when it was time to clean house. I really love the idea of the song as well. It's dangerous and obviously we all know what a Lolita is and that she's referencing the book she was so in love with. Which makes in even more awesome.

Dark Paradise, and Blue Jeans make my top three but, I love the whole record.

    Paradise:
I'm obsessed with Body Electric and if you are too maybe you did the same thing I did and googled the meaning of the term.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/I_Sing_the_Body_Electric (if you're curious) it's yet another reference to a fantastic writting piece.
I also love the references she makes in this song. Elvis, Marylin, Witman (the writter of the poems), Monaco (a lux place) it's just so beautifully written.

American, and Gods and Monsters make my top three but, the whole thing is fantastic as well.

    Ultraviolence:
So far my favorite is Ultraviolence but, I've only heard the live version. It's dark like she promised. Shades of Cool is also amazing but, I'm not in love with West Coast although I do like it. I think I overplayed it and it will come back to me when Ultraviolence comes out.
