that file was encoded with windows but the original file (leaked on discord, reuploaded here for anyone that wants it https://dbree.org/v/921a94) was encoded with Logic Pro 9.1.3 (Oct 2010-May 2011*) so I think someone has just converted the mp3 to a wav and 'releaked' it for whatever fucking reason. (might be wrong though i'm not an expert) *fyi the song could be from later and created with an out of date version of logic

she should have released Girl$ instead of in the city

I love girls, I wonder who it's about, I don't think it's lorde. 'i don't know if you like me, sometimes I think you might hate me' / 'you still might wanna see me fall over and failing' I don't know lorde but she doesn't seem that type? from the song she: might hate/be hated by/be jealous of charli is always asking to go out but it's awkward when they do talks about making music together but charli isn't sure if it's serious has the same hair is like charli, but charli thinks they're opposites & don't have much in common (to talk about at least) writes poetry (or just poetic lyrics) would be a popular choice for a collab probably needs to loosen up (charli thinks she should come to her party) part of me wondered if it's marina; charli started randomly bringing up their 'froot looks familiar' incident recently, she has a song called girls, she's writing poems, they went to the brits in 2015 and pretended they were sisters (dark hair, brown eyes), but I don't think the internet would go 'crazy' at them collaborating in the 2020s, 2010s maybe... they did go to the same covid party a while back but I think it was just an LA thing and they weren't photographed together. in general I think it's probably someone more high profile than marina.

one of the S in ‘taylor’s version’ looks like a snake so that might be the next one?

(from August) she's so many times music is a 'side quest' and she's not that interested anymore, she's more focused on her kids and other stuff which is a good thing if it makes her happy. yes it's disappointing we might not get an album for her anytime soon but she's been through a lot of shit as discussed in previous pages.

I think elon is still holding her first child hostage so I think she has other things on her mind right now

I agree this is nuanced, and being nuanced on the internet is near impossible as people always want a ‘correct’ side. I still listen to girls and the ‘problematic’ lyric doesn’t ‘bother’ me as I’m not going to be influenced by a song to start having that opinion. however I can see why people are up in arms about (specifically) teenage/vulnerable girls reading ‘problematic’ romance books and perhaps not knowing that the type of relationship in the book isn’t aspirational in anyway. it might be ‘obvious’ to us that a man practically stalking you under the guise of love is a major red flag but for an ignored teenager that might just seem like dedication and them ‘proving’ how special they are to them. it can leave them open to future abuse. (no I don’t think I’m being over dramatic) I don’t believe tiktok will solve that though, better education in schools about how to spot a narcissist and gaslighting (but actual gaslighting, not just ‘this person recalls it differently’ I swear I want to take this word away from certain sites) that all being said we can’t ever ‘ban’ a piece of media (unless illegal) because it never works (people usually go to seek it out) and it’s a slippery slope as someone or something has to be the authority to do that which historically has not been a great thing. for all (not you specifically) the complaining about cancel culture it rarely cancels anyone/anything and never consistently, it’s usually just a hit in revenue for someone who can absorb it and after a break it’s like nothing ever happened.

I think most of the song is fine, though perhaps 10+ years on we’re reading it in a different context? the lyrics ‘you stick to your yogurt I’ll stick to my apple pie’ and this part of the chorus: Girls, they never befriend me cause I fall asleep when they speak of all the calories they eat all they say is, "Na-na-na-na-na" come across ‘not like the other girls’, like she’s better than them for not caring about food/calories. marina has admitted in a podcast she did have an eating disorder pre-froot so that’s an added layer, perhaps she was trying to deflect and act like she was above succumbing to the size 0 trend of the 90s & early 00s. I think she did a better job in supermodel’s legs of getting her point across: Oh, women, men and in-betweens. Why don't you just stop dieting? Go bake, eat cake, go cheer, drink beer, worrying is boring the ‘calm down’ demo lyrics are more ‘problematic’ but she removed them: I love your Botox bitch / Calm down, I'm not gonna steal your boyfriend. No need to brand him in between the eyes also the ‘would you quit gossiping about me to hid your insecurities’ whilst having a blog she used to bitch on because she was insecure was such a self read

I think the song is a bit boring, but it’s not the worst song she’s ever made or released and let’s not start arguing about what song that is. if it leaked no context I would have assumed it was an unfinished demo. like others have said I hope it gets a decent remix but if not she does have like 500 other songs and an album on the way so…

I’ve said I’d love for her to do this too, apparently electra heart was supposed to incorporate some greek mythology, not that I really see it. I have recently wondered if she hasn’t done it already due to the pressure of ‘getting it wrong’? i think she’s on better terms with her dad now but I think if he (or any of the Greek side of her family) didn’t like it that would probably upset her. also no doubt she’d be dragged on social media too if she got things ‘wrong’.
-
she’s said it’s not for her upcoming album it’s just a standalone single.
-
maybe samsung cut charli off for always flashing her iPhone around, maybe she just she needs the bag
-
the other day she posted such a generic ‘my heart goes out to all affected’ post (that could be read for either ‘side’) that I actually felt relieved she didn’t post something dumb, now this…

I don’t know enough about sam smith to know if they’ll ‘ruin’ the song or anything (and let’s be real snippets aren’t always the best way to tell if a song is good or not, we’ve been through this before) but y’all are acting like someone won’t make an absolutely iconic edit within an hour of the song being released that you can all use instead. yes she won’t get your $0.003 per stream from Spotify but if the locals love it then she’ll make more money off them. she put sam smith in the speed drive music video to tease a collab so she’s probably trying to make a ‘hit’

whilst I don’t doubt some kind of ‘designer baby’ thing might be going on, sometimes the simplest answer is the right one, he (the man that is currently obsessed with falling fertility rates) might just have a sperm count issue. edit: also even ‘poor people’ can check their unborn child for ‘defects’ (aka life altering conditions) in the UK it’s free, I’m sure it is in a lot of countries with free healthcare too.

the first one was a c-section and the other two were surrogates because of the difficult pregnancy she had, that's why 2 + 3 are so close together. they're all ivf though. all elon's living children are.
-
i really hope she wins her court case. i've seen so much misogyny thrown at her, people outright saying she 'deserves it'. grimes has done plenty of things i don't agree with, but she doesn't 'deserve' for her 3 year old to be taken from her, taken to turkey and paraded in front of erdogan of all people. she doesn't deserve to have to beg to see him on twitter of all places as elon is ignoring her lawyers. likewise she didn't deserve for the father of her child to take a photo of her during an emergency c-section and for it to be sent to her father and brothers. she didn't deserve elon going behind her back and fathering twins with another woman whilst they already had a surrogate pregnant with their 2nd child. she didn't deserve to find out about these children when a surrogate was already pregnant with their 3rd child. ultimately she's up against someone with 'unlimited' money and was likely trying to make the best of it rather than fight it and probably lose. for anyone confused about the timeline of their children, X was born may 2020, exa was born december 2021 and tau was born june 2022; they were all ivf but the last 2 were born via surrogates. (also she said she's happy if her kids want to change their names when they grow up.)

if you use a NZ (or any other country past midnight) vpn you can listen on YouTube 'you're not very good at driving you crashed into a bridge'

honestly that was one of the weirdest parts of the L+F era, telling us not once but TWICE that her parents fucked/she was conceived in nagasaki, calling herself a ‘nagasaki baby’ girl you know that doesn’t make you Japanese right
-
I completely agree with you, after all it doesn’t really hurt Taylor financially if she doesn’t make money off this type of royalty but for a smaller/indie artist this does make a difference. which is why I said I don’t think we should say something like ‘she’s a millionaire who cares’ because ultimately she’s shed a light on an issue that will help those smaller artists starting out (hope this makes sense)
-
I understand where you’re coming from, but this is a slippery slope, the songs would not exist without her so she should get paid for them, she is almost a billionaire but I think she should still be paid for her work. like where do we draw the line? at what price point do we say ‘sorry you wrote this song but your net worth is x amount so you don’t deserve any money from it’ personally I don’t have a problem with her wanting money from this side of things, but I do have a problem with her (and any other artist!) releasing the same vinyl many times and not letting her, mostly young & teenage, fanbase make informed decisions about which ones they want because they’re behind a 48hr time limit (fomo) + other nuanced factors.

agree, especially as this is being framed as sort of a 'moral' thing to do in the age of TikTok virtue signalling and cancel culture; supporting taylor swift to get back at the 'evil' scooter braun. she's really struck well with the marketing. don't get me wrong (aka don't attack me swifties) I think the re-recordings were a good idea and really shed a light on a problem (artists not properly owning the songs they write) but this cycle is really screaming cash grab, especially on the back of midnights releasing 4 vinyls to 'complete' an image of a clock, they didn't need to be vinyls she could have made really nice quality prints with a 'complete' version of the album with all the tracks on it. it's just encouraging more over consumption
-
pretty sure she's previously said she also has adhd, which would make sense why she picks up projects and gets bored of them very quickly, elon is also autistic so this is probably why they get on so well
-
oh I agree! I just meant I saw it coming, not that I don't believe her. I think being associated constantly as 'elon musk's (ex)girlfriend' has really sucked the joy out of it, she spent her whole career fighting sexism and disbelief she was doing it all herself, then it all came crumbling back down. (then compiling 2 kids and medical issues)
