I don't wanna sound rude because i obviously don't know anything about their relationship, but i can easily imagine that Lana didn't tell Barrie clearly about the break-up. I mean, sometimes she seems so indecisive, and we already know that she isn't always honest at interviews. Maybe she commits these mistakes in her private life too.

The girl has hickeys all over and is pictured with happy orgasmic after sex grins on her face... and she is just friends with the guy? Come on! Lana herself declared they broke up.

I so agree with Bloodredjam and longtimeman, even though their opinion is opposite, they both make sense and kinda define why I love Lana so much. Contrasts and contradictions...

I think Lana is aware she is appreciated by lots of music lovers but she craves recognition by her peers and critics. I think it is part of her personality, wanting to feel admired... her insecurity probably weighs a lot on this too.
    But she will be ok.

I'm also attracted by people with complex personality and can't find many. A bit like her, I'm surrounded by people who love me, but I often feel very alone.

I like it too. I hope one day she'll get stronger and won't give a fuck about opinions of random conservative individuals who dictate how she should behave. She'll always be the master of herself if she decides not to let those haters drag her down. Everybody have haters. I do, you do, even Mother Theresa had haters. You cannot control other people criticism, there will always be. She was destabilized by all the hate she had since she became more mainstream, but on the other side, does she realize how many people who love her?

I agree with everything you said. The same when feminists start calling her as well for writing songs about for being submissive somewhat to men, its annoying because shes not saying that women should be in the kitchen waiting on men, shes just writing a love song and she would anything for her love. I'm happy though she doesn't listen to anyone or even think of anyone (fans, critics, media etc) when she is writing music because it wouldn't be the same. Her lyrics are interesting, if you take away her vocals the lyrics and stories are very interesting to read, why change that just because its not 'nice' and 'warm' like other pop music. Its actually refreshing and interesting to hear someone sing about in-depth topics and sing about sadness etc.

I do wish though as well like you touched on, she would recognize the people that love her and support her for her music and the lyrics she writes. She wouldn't be having a number one album if people didn't enjoy her and her music, so I wouldn't be too upset with certain opinions if I where her.

A selfish person would not be so kind to her fans... Immature? May be.
    Her imperfections make her beautiful.

The point of a discussion forum is discussion. If you don't like hearing about a subject, don't read posts about it. Or perhaps try to shift the conversation by engaging people on another topic.

How do you guys know about all these men like Jimmy and Blake, I don't even know what they look like tbh.

Barry was obviously trying to look like Lana, and she got sick of it when he started using her extensions

    ugh
lana obviously struggles with depression and believe me, the 'you know only one life!!! live it!!' cliche doesn't help
i get that she's upset about how everybody glamorizes the death of her father but she doesn't have the right to tell ppl how to feel about death.

I think this comment bothers me more:

When scaring people away from talking about reality doesn't protect us; it just leaves us more ignorant and vulnerable.

Lana Del Rey's songs are usually *in the moment* ...that is, from the perspective of the narrator as she is experiencing/perceiving. "Ultraviolence" presents the awe that the younger narrator felt when she was in the presence of the man who offered to guide her. Yet it's also past-tense, and I believe the minor tones of the music (not sure how well I'm explaining this) hint at the regret the narrator feels reflecting back on it now.

I hardly come away from this song with the message "brainwashing is romantic and awesome, I should totally go out and find my own guru!" In fact, there's something strangely therapeutic about hearing from another woman who's been through a controlling experience and come out the other side with mixed feelings about it. Even if her final assessment of her situation differs from mine about my own experiences. If that makes any sense.

Some people want to believe they're too smart/moral/whatever to fall for the long con. But I believe that when we think we're immune, that can be when we're the most vulnerable.

That comment stuck out a mile to me as well. It makes me thankful I'm not in the public eye - just thinking of being Lana (no matter who she is or what she's done, she's still just a person), and seeing somebody who has never met me deciding that they hate me so much they want to dedicate part of their future to putting me down. If a high school student said that to someone in their class you'd assume that they had some serious problems, but on the internet adults* just go ahead and say stuff like this.

    * I'm assuming this guy is an adult, but whenever I read a comment like this, what I'm hearing in my head is a three year old screaming "you're a poopyhead and your face looks like poop!"

I think she's lying... I think she didn't realize the impact that statement would have and how certain people would interpret it. Can you imagine the mother of a 15 yo girl who read the letter her daughter wrote before committing suicide? Something like "what's the point of living, if Lana can't be happy, how could I?" and posting this on social media. That would create a mess.

I believe in freedom of speech, but people have to know the consequences and be able to live with it...

If she really said that, the paper is not better for publishing it.

If it was manipulated out of context, I would like to know what Lana mean exactly with "I wish I was dead already" and

"I do! I don't want to have to keep doing this. But I am."

    Do what? Make music?

"Everything. That's just how I feel. If it wasn't that way, then I wouldn't say it. I would be scared if I knew [death] was coming, but …"

She doesn't clearly mention being suicidal, but most people interpreted it that way.

People are so hateful towards Lana... that makes me sad, sad girl cause I love her so much and I just can't understand why... We lana fans are 2 good for this cruel world

Don't ask me why I felt the need to post this, I just... nevermind

No way she had that kind of life. Maybe some episodes of unorthodox situations, but I see her writing just like literature, when you read a novel, it's often semi-autobiographical.
