  1. It's true, there are a lot of mashups on youtube with both songs, my fav being: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wMe8ZrF_gH0 It's funny because I find myself listening to the BJ instrumental and singing WG instead or singing the WG chorus instead of BJ's. It fits quite well I find Especially if you think of the BJ lyrics being the girl's perspective and WG being the guy's.
  2. Did you read the rest of the sentence before you quoted me?? The part where I wrote: But even that could be part of the story for all we know. I know... Reading comprehension is like super hard.
  3. Regarding Lana being Cuban... I don't know why it's so hard for Lana fans to accept the fact that Lana is an Artist and uses her 'Artistic License' in writing most of her lyrics. Do you really think she was a prostitute in Nevada or that she burned a house down, or that she murdered her boyfriend and stuck him in a trunk? Just because she sings "He's crazy y Cubano como yo" does not mean that she's Cuban, it means she is using Artistic License to tell a story that's not even necessarily about herself. Not everything she writes is autobiographical nor does it have to be. She even said in Prom Song that she likes to "make up stories about my life and put on very cherry balm" but even that could be a part of the story for all we know. Like Lana's tat says: "Trust No One" ...Even Ms. Del Rey herself. It reminds me of when I started listening to Tori Amos at a young age and I didn't connect the fact that Tori was telling a story with her lyrics and that she didn't actually experience certain things she described in her songs. I was just too young to grasp the concept at the age of 11 that someone would make up stories and sing about them. For example: Me and a Gun vs Professional Widow or Mr. Zebra. Me and a Gun is based on her real life experience being raped at knife point (Even Tori used her Artistic License to change details in a real story for the benefit of the song), where Professional Widow is about having power over a man and convincing him to commit suicide through his addiction. Mr. Zebra is about a woman poisoning a man through food. Both the last two songs I mentioned are notoriously known for potentially being written from the perspective of Courtney Love killing Kurt Cobain, though Tori has never confirmed or denied it. (Tori and Kurt were friends way back when). Again, Artistic License. Tori didn't actually poison someone or convince them to OD. Tori is also really awesome at describing almost every song she has written and telling fans what it's really about or how she came up with certain lyrics. There's whole websites devoted to Tori's song meanings and what she has said about each one. Love her for that! I only wish Lana did the same instead of being so cryptic, but that's part of what makes her so enigmatic.
  4. I grew up on the Mamas and the Papas! Really looking forward to this
  5. Your reading comprehension is poor. I said for the *most part*. Not all females are like that. If I wrote what you implied, I'd be saying my sister, my mother, etc are all shitty human beings. I'd be saying I'm a shitty human being (I probably am, tbh). I'm shocked that you're getting upset over it. Maybe you feel a little guilty for behaving in that manner? Then again I suppose I could have clarified for your sake. I won't lie, yes I participated in being a shitty friend in HS, it made me feel horrible and I hated myself. So I changed, but my friends did not. Every woman to them is competition and sure they'll be nice to your face but the second you walk away they talk about you to everyone else. And maybe I'm bitter because of recent events. Around my birthday, I started hearing that my supposed best friend of 17 years was calling me a slut behind my back and starting rumours that I cheated to get my boyfriend to break up with me (because he looks similar to her ex and she is jealous because her ex doesn't want her anymore) She then proceeded to drunkenly hit on my boyfriend when we're at my party in front of me telling him I cheated to his face and that she would be better to him... oh and we're 27 years old. When I confronted her, all the other girls sided with her, so I had to bow out. I'm nearing 30 and my friends still act like they're in high school. In the same breath, I have found that most woman my age are chilled out once they are attached, engaged or married. Once that "competition" factor is out, woman can be great friends, however, then they are focused more on their SO, which I am as well, so our friendship suffers and we aren't as close as we could be. I have great relationships with my female family members and my older co-workers. I just haven't found any friends near my age as of yet because the recent BFF breakup still smarts. I imagine it will be a while before I can open up and trust another woman again. I feel bad for hijacking this thread to talk about something completely irrelevant. Sorry I insinuating-ly insulted you. Won't happen again.
  6. It just did the same to me too... Something is up with the boards
  7. I literally have zero friends that are girls because... dun dun dun I get along better with guys. There's no drama, no back stabbing, no competition that you're in but you didn't want to be a part of in the first place. Girls are (for the most part) shitty fucking friends, and I think if we were more like dudes, we'd be more fun to hang out with. I got rid of all my girl friends because I was sick of being judged constantly and ridiculed when I was just trying to be a friend. And I think we all know Lana's view on it: See lyrics to TiWMUG

This sounds like it could have been written about her mother.
  9. Comedic gold. oh my GOSH, no high heels, or speeding allowed! This is kidz bop bitchez. You're a bad parent if you make your child listen to this.
  10. damnit! I always forget to plan for coachella and this year she's playing! maybe I can tag along with the usual coachella girls from work...
  11. I thought that's what the lyrics threads were for?
  12. As one of your resident "old farts" on the board I need to chip in. The thing I keep realising as I get older is that my parents had no fucking clue what they were doing while raising me. I was a problem child (not like Lana, drinking and partying was my sister's forte) in that I just didn't listen to my parents. I snuck out, talked back, lied, and ran away at one point. And after my step sister went to live with her dad, and with me behaving badly, my parents threatened me with boarding school. I think at that point, because I couldn't go anywhere else and they were at their wits end with me, that was their last resort. My parents weren't rich so it would have nearly bankrupt them if they sent me. They just didn't know what else to do. Rob and Pat probably were the same, struggling to keep their child under control but at their breaking point. No parent wants to send their children away for someone else to raise them, but when you're at the point where you have no control over them but you don't want to see them dead, you do what you have to do. I hated my parents throughout my teen years because they even tried to send me away. But I didn't understand why until this last year. As I get closer to becoming a parent myself I realize that parents are usually just stumbling around in the dark trying to find their way to raise a good child into a better adult. It's difficult and there is no "manual". I'm sure Rob and Pat were heartbroken they had to send Lizzy away because it meant they screwed up as parents and they were losing their oldest daughter but it still would have been better than the alternative. She would have been in the hands of professionals who knew what they were doing. Besides we probably wouldn't have LDR without boarding school
  13. I believe it's because WW is now in public domain which is the date of artists death plus 75 years. That's how all those Pride & Prejudice & Zombies books happened. They're in the public domain so other artists can take and use them frequently and however they like without credit. This drove me crazy while watching it too. Cue the conspiracy theory that Lana had a baby again!
  14. THE CAKE IS A LIE! Also, read her hand!!! I think that is a good indication of what ever the fuck this fraud is saying about writing Lana's songs. But then again, I might be butthurt that Lana didn't actually write my most favoritest song in her discography I refuse to believe anyone but Lana wrote Live or Die!!
  15. Holy shit, it looks like QT directed it in that aspect ratio!! Makes a HUGE difference.
  16. I liked it for all it's opulence and simplicity. An oxymoron only Lana could pull off On a side note, I am done school today(!!!!!) I am officially certified in my field!!! Here's to no longer being poor!!
  17. EXCUUUUUUUUUSE ME??????? Proof!! I need to see evidence!! Preferably from someone other than Lana... Since we know how she can be.
  18. HOLY SHIT! That fall at the end. He fucking deserved that
  19. Hell yes it is! Alberta is the best prairie province!
  20. Well it is the centre of the Universe don't forget (lol idgi either) Between Vancouver and TO, I think I have middle child syndrome. The prairies are where it's at people! Holla!
  21. Oh no I was aiming my post at the non-North American group. I agree with everything you said as well, it was very well stated. On a side note, if she ever hits up Toronto again, we need to have a LB meetup!
  22. Eh I think that was just recorded off the tv. Okay this time I'm really signing off. I swear.
