I really think that fruit punch is part of cult history symbolism, especially because there are several bodies strewn upon each other (out of frame) all we see is the hands and Lana. Another thing I've been thinking of is Honeymoon could be like being accepted/initiated into the cult, since that term sister wives was used to describe the sexual/familial relationship between the females that followed cult leaders like Manson, Jim Jones, etc. If you notice, Lana is the only one not in the sheer, long, white dress uniform that the other girls dance around (swim) in, she's in shorts and a shirt, looking like a "normal girl" perhaps just arriving, being taken in. Ergo "Taking The Kool-Aid", so to speak.

I was just going to ask, does anyone remember the "sister wives" post on Chuck's IG https://instagram.com/p/pF6jVgiZvj/ I always wondered about that comment.. I feel the cult leader inspiration on the Freak clips with Lana drinking some cult punch and I love how happy she looks frolicking with her sister wives I also get Britney "I'm a Slave 4 U" vibes with all those people's hands in the petting party scene

The intro of the song sounds so much like segments of the American Beauty soundtrack. I wanted to say it was sampled, but I was just listening through the AB OST, and it's a very similar sound but not sampled from there directly. I was listening to the recordings some ppl have made of the Honeymoon Hotline's extension recordings(?). Listening to that led me to watch the Lawrence Krauss lecture on youtube https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7cIbfbl8124 (because the HH doesn't actually work when I call it), I enjoyed it and all, but during the lecture, Lawrence Krauss mentions a famous discovery in science: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Discovery_of_cosmic_microwave_background_radiation. OKAY so the funny thing is that these lyrics: "I put the radio on hold you tight in my mind Isn't strange that you're not here with me But I know the lights on in the television Trying to transmit can you hear me" instantly reminded me of that particular discovery in science because white noise on televisions are actually just picking up random signals from space that aren't being occupied by a channel's signal. I take the awkward lines of "I know the lights on in the television, trying to transmit (CAN YOU HEAR ME?)" and I don't think this is all a reach because it's a common thought in science that we can be receiving information via cosmic layers of radiation/static noise and you, good people, are talking about hearing a "sound" that I personally haven't experienced but it does seem to fit this train of thought, as far as what this song is about. All in all, I found it peculiar that I arrived at the idea independently, not special, but I wonder if anyone else is thinking about it. Also I have secretly always thought that Lana is (don't scoff) a Sopranos/James Gandolfini fan, because on so many occasions, even before she was famous, Lana has said, done, tweeted things that are quotes or inspiration from that show Sopranos, mostly stuff that the main character Tony says, but also a lot of Lana's "Daytona Meth" style can be seen as a reflection upon Adrina's character/style https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Adriana_La_Cerva My odd point with this is that "You are what you are." is a very poignant line delivered by James Gandolfini during an episode when he's in therapy discussing how he was born into a life of organized crime, and that lyric just instantly made me think of that line and what it meant within that context... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=h6Zt--RAzCo genetic predispostions /destiny written in stone preordained life / free will these philosophical ideals and questions raised in the scene are all metaphysical ones. I hope this isn't going beyond the "reach scope" of your minds it's just all snowballing for me... I also want to say I like the song.

Photo on the billboard was shot using film (not digital). I love how the blue sky of the billboard bleeds into the blue sky of LA

One line that has been awkward to me was "Pay tribute to me" because a) it sounds mafioso (still keeps it OG) b) tribute/tribunal/tribune share a root and their definitions are comparatively interesting especially since a lot of newspapers are titled, ____ Tribune etc. (media) c) All of the referencing back to past lyrics made me think of when Lana sings about being saluted (you salute me, Miss America) and I think this "pay tribute" line is the reference to that. (more references to past song lyrics)

It's subversive, submissive, surreal? I enjoy the unique aspect of her "subliminal message" billboards. I think it's an aesthetic preference of minimalism and allowing an image to capture people's attention (instead of brazenly promoting the album) with loud ass fonts and begging you to "BUY HONEYMOON!!!". Lana has obviously shot way more footage than we have access to (yet), so this may be an outtake she really liked and wants to use it simply because she likes certain details of the image. http://www.starlinetours.com does tours of celebrities homes in LA. After the message that HBTB video sent, this seems to be a cheeky, aha picture, cuz LOOK who's stalking the celebs now?? LANNNA up in that Starline Tours Truck. Also maybe she just wants traffic to come to a crash because all the shmeeple will be confused like "What is the message? what is it selling or telling me to think??? AH I can't think for myself!!" *crashes*

I was going with the influences that Lana stated thus far. It was all about Fellini and surrealism, and what have you. Comedy just didn't come up until fans started saying it. I see some similarities in the camera movements, use of "wind", and colors that do remind me of surreal imagery tho. Only asking, not testing you or anyone else's sense of humor.

Why has everyone adopted the notion that this video is satire, comical, supposed to be funny etc.? It reminds me of how Brooklyn Baby was perceived. I feel this falls more along the lines of surreal shorts of early cinema, there is symbolism in every sparse detail. Lana is rather awkward in the house but her fluidity of movement once outside is sexy, even the calculated dress snag.

Since Francesco is a certified pilot (of sorts), I have been wondering if he is the man shooting Lana from the chopper. https://instagram.com/p/xXYkDwiIDS/?taken-by=francescocarrozzini (he posts plane porn quite a bit) Another thought I've had since August 10th, is that I wonder if there is some correlation between Lana dropping "High by The Beach" on August 10th. which is the same date as her ex-boyfriend's birthday (Michael Mizrahi). I can't help but feel that it's no coincidence, and also it would explain some of the going back to Lizzy lyrics and slightly modifying them to represent growth and empowerment since that time. OHHH and at 3:28 when Lana's running back with the guitar case, there is a flicker of a smile on her face. Her hair is covering most of her face in the moment but it's so endearingly evil. I see the menace in her for a second. Music is her weapon symbolism galore.

I just keep feeling a Scarface vibe from the 2 previews.. something about the pastel tones + tones of violence with a chopper and a big gun. It still feels like a flame coloured paradise to me, Darling.

I see a lot of this when I look up Low cabriolet (like they're dropped low to the ground lowrider style) also these..

I want to die at the hands of Lana with that GUN, and I want her to say the outro to me as I slip out of this world..
-
also I noticed these: Kill Kill: "All our love's flying in the sand" HBTB: We're sinking into the sand" Body Electric: "Opulence is the end" HBTB: "Peace by vengeance brings the end" "Tonight getting high by the beach is an actual possibility!!" - Jonah Hill in Superbad

Lana featured on The Weeknd's new album
SoftcoreBabyface replied to naachoboy's topic in New Releases
The underlying female vocals on the chorus are supposed to be Lana? Or is this a snippet w/o her part in it? I hear something under his vocals but I can't tell what it is.. -
Oh! Hey there! I don't find it odd at all.. I lightweight stalk just about everyone who links their social on here. I am the Queen of Link Juice!! (that's a joke)

I also wanna say, I fucking love the way she says Boulevard in both verses
-
The last lines of the verses, give me this feel, like I really want to hear her repeat the last line in a lower octave at that point. The same way she sings "dreamin' away your life" at the end. So that would be "we make the rules, & Mr. Born to Lose". I suppose that pause or space in the song is okay in it's own way but I feel those parts give it the copy/paste feel when the chorus comes in. I adore the way Lana comes in on the verses "We both know" and how she sings cruise, plus the background vox kicking in all "Lalala" like or whatever she's saying there. The way she say "dark blue" is literally the way I imagined her in my head. When she says "but I'm not scared" her vox warbles a bit and she sounds emotional and vulnerable which I love. It's great on that specific line. The Bridge is dope. Scatting and all that jazz is beautiful. I personally prefer the soundtrack vibe cuz I love ambient tracks and OST, as is. I love slower tempos and a lot of times find faster paced songs give me headaches. I ease my anxiety with Lana's voice on many occasions. I LOVE reading what other people are reminded of by this (possible references, and similarities to past work) Hella excited for whatever's next EEEEE EEE!!!

Lana rules Billboard's 2015 Mid-Year Readers' Poll
SoftcoreBabyface replied to Subversive's topic in Latest News
I did vote for this as well, although it does all seem trivial compared to the actual awards that Lana has been so deserving of. FMEH -
It took an embarrassingly long time for me to figure this out

"Honeymoon" Song/Video Preview (UPDATE: 2nd Snippet)
SoftcoreBabyface replied to Sitar's topic in New Releases
I can't relate with anyone who has a preconceived notion of Lana's future music. I always appreciate the opportunity to get into Lana's head creatively. If it's bad, then it's bad, but if it's good, nothing's better! -
At one point some one in the band asked Lana something and she said "maybe, we'll see.. maybe" and she glanced at the crowd then went into the next song, I was hoping for something special but we ended up not even getting to see her perform YCBTB or DR. That was a bit of a bummer but I feel like Lana possibly wasn't feeling comfortable at the venue cos she usually smokes on stage but didn't this time, and she also didn't interact as much with fans. Her performance was beautiful, overall and I can't wait to see her again.
