  1. I think Lana has definitely become disenchanted with fame after seeing its dark side, but you'd have to be fooling yourself to think she didn't initially want it. Homegirl was obsessed with pop culture and celebria before making it big.

exactly. of course lana wanted to be famous! i mean, have you listened to her songs? lana just didn't expect getting negative press/backlash. she wanted to be adored.

i wanna be the whole world's girl, gramma. . .

  2. If she's sick of playing the same damn songs, she needs to change her setlist even slightly, seriously.

it's frustrating because we know she has so many other songs she could put in her setlist. she's not limited in any sort of way when it comes to song selections. what's her deal? embrace your entire catalog, lana!

  3. Feminism isn't a man-hating movement and without male support, female oppression and degradation will only be perpetuated further. You two sound like the most uneducated, ignorant people on the board. Don't bring up a touchy topic of you don't want shots fired back. I just find it so frustrating to see comments like this that are telling someone, because of how they identify themselves, that they can't and shouldn't support the feminism. You're just generalizing a group of people where it doesn't need to happen. And male or female, gay or straight, anyone can speak on the subject if they feel compelled. Don't act like feminism is an exclusive club that only you can be apart of, because it does require support to be progressive.

lmao. k. women have every right to organize on their own w/out men. just like LGBT people have a right to organize without the presence of straight people. oppressed groups shouldn't have to cater to their oppressors. feminism is a political movement--it's not about your ~feelings~. stay basic & ignorant tho. this is the last i'll say on the subject cos i can't believe i thought members of lanaboards could have a nuanced discussion on the topic.

  4. Whether you girl/dude it shouldn't matter.Your entitled to stand up for what you belive in regardless of your gender and sexuality. John Lennon was a huge advocate for woman's rights but I guess BC he wasn't a girl he should of mind his own business. Also I'm a huge advocate for LGBT and has supported there compaign for there rights for years but BC I'm not gay or Bi-sexual I should mind my own business aswell and not bother trying to make the world a more better place for generations to come

    smh

i should have known better than to have this kind of discussion on LANABOARDS of all places lmao. iblamemyself.mp3. so basic.  :bye2:

  5. So, other types of people aren't allowed to add to this discussion in defense of women? What a ridiculous sentiment. People like you are the biggest factor in the perseverance of inequality.

oh really? i, a lesbian woman, am the reason that women are still unequal to men? :lmao:

nah, men who want to disregard the contributions made by those so-called "man hating bra burning" feminists (aka feminists in the 70s who actually changed shit) don't need to be a part of the conversation. thanks.

  6. ^@@ilovetati if you are a gay man then why do you feel it is your place to speak on the subject? we have enough straight women making their feminism all about fighting feminist "stereotypes" which...actually does nothing to help and instead alienates those women you disregard as being embarrassing stereotypes!

but anyway. that's a topic for a whole other forum. ;)

  7. it's incredible what lengths some of you fans will go to defend lana when she's wrong. i am obsessed with her music & think she's phenomenal but i don't have to try to justify everything she does.  :smokes:

some of you obviously have a very cavalier attitude towards rape/depictions of rape in media. it's sad but not surprising given the culture we live in.

    and:

Actually, that is what feminism still represents. Man-hating bra-burners are not what the feminist movement is all about no matter how often the sexist members of the population try to perpetuate that image.

those "man hating bra burners" (go ahead, you can say lesbians) are the ones who fought for your rights so don't go throwing them under the bus.

  9. great thread idea--i have sooo many questions about this topic/her unreleased songs in general. it's hard for me to think that she wanted to give all of those songs away. lyrically, they seem so much a part of her personal narrative (made up or not). even though her unreleased stuff varies A LOT in genre, it's cohesive because of her lana-isms strewn throughout them.

i think the label had a lot to do with the poppier songs, but i don't think she didn't enjoy them. she put her own spin on them & made them unique. i can't imagine other artists singing those songs.

plus, lana has always said britney is one of her inspirations. who does bubblegum better than britney?

  10. Born to Die (Fuck hard version)

    For K Part 3

    Dark Paradise (this version

    )

I can't get myself to understand how no one actually recorder her performance... JUST A 50 SEC SNIPPET? REALLY?

    :icant: :icant: :icant:

i didn't know this existed & i'm depressed this is all we have of it. i love when lana sings like this.

  11. To hear the breathing of a singer is used by especially female singers as a method to create rawness and intimacy, check the first recods of Tori Amos. There it was heavily used.

ESPECIALLY on boys for pele. it's part of the record itself. a lot of critics totally hated her breathing on it!

i've never really noticed in lana's case, but i'm sure since you pointed it out it's all i'll be able to hear now.
