Norman Fucking Rockwell - Pre-Release Thread

The way she sings this makes up for the lack of instrumentation. A beautiful (promo?) single. I think we might be getting her most personal record. -

This truly is some sad girl s**t. -
Didn't she tell people outside of BBc that it's coming early February instead of January?

Y'all are really trying to tell me that a girl that asks her sister to take pics of her with a fake, lighth-up fish tank to be artsy is being spontaneous? (Sometimes I judge Ariana Grande for being weird on Twitter and her snippets then remember Lana invented that brand) -
Minor General Questions that Don't Deserve Their Own Thread
Formation replied to Monicker's topic in Lana Thoughts
I just read the interview where she talks a bit about Gene and yeah, he definitely had a huge impact on her. Also, he was fresh out of college, so it wasn't the most inappropriate of relationships. Also, personally I don't think he looks very attractive now, but I can imagine that college-aged him was probably really hot. No wonder she got obsessed with older men. It's also interesting that Yayo was written about Rob so early on. I hope that her even mentioning his name is a sign that she's going to be opening a bit more--obviously it's all her business, but piecing her past together is so interesting. -

Do we have a timeline for Lana's relationships? I don't really understand how she had a seven year relationship with a label exec unless it started in her late teens? -

Since she didn't shoot the cover with Neil, I hope she's experimenting with new photographers (yes I know we're getting another Chuck cover but let a man dream for once) -
Love on the Brain should've gone to Dua ugh

Considering she did like zero promo for those songs, she'll be fine. The good reviews and promo by the label next year will keep her good sales.

Meh, we're just not used to seeing it on it's own. We'll get used to it. However, I wish she would have gone with "Marina Diamandis" rather than just her first. Her last name keeps the diamonds in some form and it's still her actual name. Also, Marina is not that unique of a name--she's no Beyonce or Adele. Having her last name would help her stand out as much as she did with "& the Diamonds".

Froot's video has stunning visuals, but it didn't fit the song for me. The old Hollywood glamour and random older man was straight out of Lana's catalog; she should have been outside in the lush garden of that mansion among some Greek statues or something (they could've switched it to night time when the flowers and stuff would came alive in neon --to fit the aesthetic she originally had for the tour.) IAR was cute but there's was too much of her on the rocks. Forget was as boring as the rest. I can't imagine the incredible visuals and stories she could serve with a big budget.

TFJ is great for her one-liners. I hope she has something as memorable as this on some song

I don't think the album's main theme is love. The whole album is her reflecting on herself and life now that she has a better happier outlook. That being said, I think Better Than That, Weeds, Savages, and Immortal are meant to show that even when you're happy, not everything is the best. There are still lows, but it's about how you perceive things. She does that in the latter half of the album with a level of maturity that was missing from TFJ and EH (which to me appear more like her just lashing out at all of her problems rather than acknowledging that they are problems.)

This is so "unreleased Lana" that it hurts. I hope it's on the album

I actually really dig the song. The video has beautiful visuals--wish Lana would get that type of budget again.

Is Hollywood Records bad, or why do you guys think she wanted to be independent? I was wondering how she was allowed to take such a long break by her label lol

"and you salute me, Miss Americaaaa" - the build up to this and the way the background vocals come in is incredible The pre-choruses of Last Girl On Earth are heavenly I love the "tapping" drum sound in the second verse of Religion and the mood it sets. I like the echos in the bridge of Lolita that come in before she actually says the word--love how they switch between ears. Her moaning in the background of Burning Desire is great. Something about the Florida Kilos outro sounds really grand. I wish the bell/synth or whatever was more prevalent throughout the whole song.

I want to be excited about her hair length, but I just know she's going to cut again soon

I wonder what she has planned for the album campaign. She said the album is ready, so she's holding it back on purpose (I don't see it being her label's decision). I doubt it'll be another Froot of the Month but I'm interested in what she's got cooking.

Pretty sure this leaked a year ago

Baby is pulling a Froot by somehow getting better with each listen Also I assume the album announcement will have an explanation of why she's been gone (since she keeps mentioning that we will get a reason.) She also keeps saying "soon" so I'm expecting something in the last two weeks of this month!

I wonder if Baby will be a deluxe kind of thing, as most collabs that make it into the featured artist's album usually are, or if it's just the standard track list. I guess she's considering this as a sort of lead single since it's off the album, so I don't expect her proper lead to come until December tbh
