being spanish isn't a race guys, it's a nationality but yeah I'd agree she's stereotyping by suggesting they all have black hair. my concern mostly has been her appropriation of latina culture and her 'thing' about americana which is historically an atrocious and repressive concept towards towards black people, indigenous people and people of colour anyway as you were all saying

just had a stalk of her instagram for the first time in a while and she is looking amazing why she tease us like this goddammit

she looks beautiful but the balance of her face and neck looks so off like her head has been brought forward. but y'know we all have insecurities and i can't blame her for that if it is photoshopped, just looks a bit odd

granted we have no indication the racist lyrics are actually hers but similar to what others have said, she has absolutely used racial stereotypes/romanticised eras and imagery which have strong ties to white supremacy and overall she's been incredibly ignorant whenever she's opened her mouth if these lyrics are real and she's gonna go ahead with them, i can't help but think given the mess of this era and her reluctance to release anything that it may be a purposeful move on her part to say what she wants to say and then just quit. yes it'd be in the worst possible way and people will go crazy over it (and rightly so) but it's also gonna get a lot of media attention and it'd be her retiring from music or whatever with a pretty big explosion i feel contempt from her and this would be such a contemptuous way to flex her artistic licence, suggest "it wasn't intended as racism" when called out on it, but also get a tonne of sales/streams due to curiosity

the irony of lana singing 'we in it together' at the end when she sings one short verse. i need an ambulance

right? this thread has just gone way beyond NFR. this thread is totally a socialising and being a bit stupid thread, if i genuinely felt people were almost killing themselves over the lack of release i don't think i'd laugh as much as i do. in fact i wouldn't have signed up people are enjoying some of the drama here, opinions over lana's unprofessionalism aside

with all do respect, this is a lana discussion forum tho and.... I think it's kind of inevitable given there's pretty much nothing to talk about but her behaviour. given this particular era it's just not gonna happen and i don't think it's even that everyone is necessarily that invested, more that there's clear friendships on here, there's no news and nothing to talk about, so people come here and express their disappointment over that continually when i log out of this forum, i'm certainly not thinking about lana or NFR. do i mention my opinions to join in when i have free time cos i like people on here and it can be really funny? absolutely a lot of this thread is jokey as hell so i don't really get where some people are coming from

ok "she loves her album." that's great. but this was also back in december and it doesn't explain why she hasn't released it and has deleted or ignored questions about it when she's fully able to release it and those are the questions she's getting asked, many of them politely and with a lot of enthusiasm. she also stopped talking about it for an extended amount of time and the first single was released almost a year ago. i wouldn't be here if i didn't love lana's music but this era promotionally is a vague goddamn mess and i say that as someone who loves clunky music videos and stripped down sound without a particularly huge budget spent

i don't think anyone suggested she should retire without actually having given thought to the fact she may not be into her own career anymore? i think suggesting she should retire if she seemed passionate about her own music is entirely different from the seeming apathy and lack of commitment we've had from her and before anyone says "you feel owed." no....... i personally don't feel owed anything, in fact i'm not even that invested anymore, for those who are however i expect transparency. that's literally all it is and i think it's the same for many on here. isn't hard to just be honest. she's disappointing everyone far more with her delays and evasiveness and i know full well she doesn't care about that, which is fine but WE'VE FUNDED HER AND HAVE SUPPORTED HER

guess what i mean is when people excuse this hiatus/mess they usually do so by comparing her to musicians who did this kind of thing in the 70s/80s/90s when there wasn't social media and it was all or nothing and in my opinion somewhat less hypocritical. as i've said before the music industry is highly competitive and has changed hugely and yes by all means she can use social media and yes most of us use social media but given her level of fame it's kinda shitty to grab for likes and engagement and fawning from fans when she deletes their very polite questions about an album she's teased them with over and over... usually on social media

aside from anything else...... this is all just so boring. like, as i've said before if she'd shunned public life and that was in part why she wasn't releasing the album then at least there'd be some mystery but she's pretty active on social media and even most of that content is self indulgent and dull as fuck

been reading some of the posts over the last few pages and it's funny cos i remember when she was promoting BTD she said she "may not bother making another album" after that in an interview (or words to that effect), which in hindsight was incredibly premature for someone who cared so much. then she released ultraviolence and honeymoon and said she released those albums "because she had things to get out of her system and needed to make them" (or words to that effect) and... yeah after LFL and her reluctance to release NFR i kinda feel like she's running out of things to say and it simply doesn't matter to her anymore i'll be shocked if she's still making music in 10 or even 5 years. she just does not seem into it, she's lost that sparkle to me

obviously i don't want to be unnecessarily mean, but i honestly think in the event critics get their hands on her poetry she may be totally ripped to pieces and i think that's part of the reason i'm indecisive about it. not suggesting she hasn't written amazing lyrics or that critics matter and it's absolutely her right to bring out the book but i get the distinct feeling it could be really embarrassing
