  1. Its curious for me to see how she explicitly acknowledges here NFR as her self-considered best own album (back then when she released it, at least). I always was interested to know about how she felt herself about the album, given the fact that the critics were so loud about it, yet she never said anything publicly about it, more than some generic thoughts regarding loving it and so. Maybe that's the reason why she teased its almost entirety before the release. She had never done that with any other record. Anyways, quite surprised. I always thought that she just deservedly enjoyed the praise, yet wasnt completely full in with it.
  2. I think it's quite nice you connected both of them. Virginia is maybe the most brilliant female writer I know of, and would be just astonished if Lana got to artistically acknowledge her by any means. Definetly don't think you should apologize at all!
  3. Not Virginia Woolf on the back I </3 :'(
  4. That whole album. Just unbeatable, and thats on that.
  5. I think the quality of her performances on those tracks is not something everybody agree about. Like, I don't dislike them, but there's something about her higher register on tracks like those two that's kinda jarring for me. Don't know if it has to do with the vocals themselves or with their mixing, but, ye... Not totally pleased about how uncontrolled, to say something, her delivery of high notes sounds sometimes along the album.
  6. I really love the song. One of her most beautiful, best made pop songs. And the video is just jawdropping. Maybe my favourite from her.
  7. Its definetly a beautiful song. The only thing that bugs me about it it's the fact that it's built over those damn three chords which Antonnof seems to be obsessed with.
  8. Anybody here with musical theory knowledge could let me know if there are any common harmonic patterns in How to dissapear and Violets for Roses? The latter reminds me a lot of the first but I cant really pinpoint on why...
  9. I find it beautiful as well, but maybe a bit generic sound-wise. The lyrics are beautiful, and it works beautifully as a closer to the album, but yeah, not her most brilliant song either.
  10. One of the most uninspired songs she's ever come with, imo. Sounds as if somebody forced her to write and record something that sounded rockish at first hour in the morning when she wasn't still fully awake.
  11. Has it been discussed how Blue Banisters (the track) resembles both How big, how blue, how beautiful and Without you?
  12. It's outstanding (the song itself is just f*cking great). I'm not a fan of Jack Antonoff, but credit has to been given to him when due.
  13. I actually don't find that problematic the fact that she compares herself to Picasso -he was a human being after all, I'm not a fan of deifying people, no matter how talented or popular they might be-. What makes it cringy for me is how on the nose the reference is. Comes a bit as if she was on high school, trying to impress the art teacher by showing off the fact that she knows what Picasso's blue period was. The way she has overused beyond every limit the "blue" metaphor doesnt help either.
  14. Listening again to this album after quite some time without doing it. Definetly her simplest, most tender and lighthearted album. So beautiful its just absurd. As a long, narrative, calming lullaby. Thanks for your work, your love and your vision, Lana.
  15. Lana has been deliberately separating herself from the mainstream pop scenery since 2018. I think it's time for people to stop thinking that she's gonna be back there -seems impossible at all after BB, but let's see-. Imagine thinking Fiona Apple could be back to making conventional, easy to hear melodies after The Idler Wheel. Na, just not that feasible -as it showed on FTBC-. I think that Lana is going through a simmilar road right now. She's evolved a lot since BTD days and I just cant picture her making commercially friendly music again.
  16. Antonoff uploaded a story on BB release day announcing the album was out and called it "gorgeous", though
  17. The Lanaboards' Honeymoon's worshippers are quite a tiny, microscopic group of people with an insignificant impact of Lana's streaming numbers. Nothing we can do about that
  18. The way you daily quote something from that song and it's never out of place <3
  19. Something similar is happening to me regarding the record. Like, I listened to it a handful of times and got totally haunted by it. Such an amazing, complex, powerful album. But I feel it's actually too heavy on all levels to listen to it frequently. Not something I can just play casually without having to do a certain emotional/cognitive effort while at it. But that's actually what makes it so special as well. As a big, old book to go back to from time to time to reflect on it. The most substantious, relevant project Lana has given us till today (and thats a lot to say).
  20. No doubt it's an early judgement, yet I'm feeling similar regarding it. Even if a few songs aren't amongst my favourites from her, the album remains her most mature, honest and strongest one yet. Never thought she was going to top Honeymoon either, yet... Yes, BB happened <3
  21. I dont get why in the world they thought that cut had to make it to the video. She looks like a bad CGI version of her.
