Pitchfork Reviews Rescored (including Born To Die)
sjatib replied to longtimeman's topic in Latest News
Havent read the whole thing till now. Painful to see that Born to die was treated 'not that bad' compared to how terrible they've been to other valid artists and their work. Curious to see what they'll have to say about NFR! in the future. -
Born to Die - Post-Release Discussion Thread + Poll

Was thinking about this too. If BTD is suddenly 2.3 freaking points higher out of nowhere, what should we expect regarding the rest of her discography? -
Born to Die - Post-Release Discussion Thread + Poll

Just saw the article. Lana has, FINALLY, got to the point where not recognising her inmense talent is something to be ashamed of, and I couldn't be happier about it. Pitchfork themselves, as much as I'm grateful for their wide coverage on cultural issues, have just shown themselves to be oportunistic d*uchebags. I absolutely can see them treating her as some kind of new Fiona Apple (going by their own standards, I mean) in not a lot of time from now on. -

So 19 days until the official release... Do we think it's leaking in advance? And if so, when? -
Loving the fact that the album is finally starting to click for many people. It's at the same time her most thoughtful and accesible album to date, I think (Honeymoon, which I deeply admire, was even more contemplative, yet quite dark as well and anything but simple for casual listeners to get into). There's certainly some moments on the record that could have been more carefully crafted (the NAWWAL-Yosemite passage falls a bit flat from my point of view, p.e), but the whole atmosphere of it all is so warm, beautiful and full of light, even as nostalgic as it gets. Also, some of the tracks that got the lesser attention ended up being some of the most captivating ones (BUS and For Free are absolute gems -it doesnt really get more beautiful than them-). Really, really hoping that the album will be far more loved and recognised (by Lana herself, even) with time, as it truly deserves.

Why did I read this with the closing melody of The Greatest in mind...
-
Not a bad song, but definetly the one I got to enjoy the less off the 4 singles we have (which I enjoy hugely, except for this one). It sounds like a mix of old melodies from her and there's something on her higher notes that bugs me.

What leaked? :///

How could this be read as unpopular? </3

Was just fooling around on guitar and noticed that BB chorus and Without you use the same chords. Just a nice curiosity! -
Yes, exactly... Its absolutely ridiculous that this kind of behaviour is being held even by progressive people. Like, it isn't a popularity contest where you take severe acussations and throw them at discretion to gain points. Its absolutely disgusting to see.
-
Few days ago an argentinian youtuber I follow called her "white supremacist" and "Trump supporter" on an Arcadia reaction video, without having even reading about what truly happened with her that made that kind of acussations to emerge. Just for keeping on track with what seems to be the "cool" position to hold regarding her. If the general ambience is that, Lana couldnt do anything better than what she's doing. I mean, we all know she's been quite ignorant and unsensitive many times when expressing herself since the beginning of her career, but to call her a "white supremacist"... The level of frivolity just makes me sick.

The video seems definetly weird, but truly, this is the best thing she can do. Social media can already bring huge mental health issues to people who lives non-celebrity lives, can't imagine how it may be for someone with a global public relevance and near to 20 million followers (that's more people than the population of many countries). Hope she's gonna be better after doing this. (Not Uhauljoe liking the post haha <3)

"American Standards & Classics" Cover Album - Pre-Pre-Release Thread
sjatib replied to Elle's topic in New Releases
She actually talked about a potential covers album (even gave a name for it, "Pacific Blue") right after dropping NFR. This could well be that album and not the ASAC one, actually! -
Hey, kinda out of topic, but anyway: for IG users, I just found an account called @heroinfreak which uploads the SICKEST Lana content I've seen in a while. They mix spacey-neon-narchotic vibes to her work and its truly, truly amazing to watch to. Go give them some love, they truly deserve! <3
