I agree with this. I dig that she's doing new shit with her song structures. Even though her bridges are almost always great, one of the few problems I've always had with her song writing is that nearly all of her songs follow a Verse>Chorus>Verse>Chorus>Bridge>Chorus structure. Like we were getting a limited view of what she could really do with song writing.I wasn't expecting her to use an entire album to experiment with song structure, but I like the outcome.

Same. The demo is legitimately one of my favorite songs of hers, absolutely stunning. But reading the new lyrics is devastating.

Literally the only reason why Doin' Time is on there is because it was such a hit on radio and streaming. Otherwise it would just be one less song on the album, the original 13 tracks. Label decision, and probably not Lana's.

I wish she would. It's a great album and deserves more exposure. That interview is really interesting, btw. Never knew the exact background of the AKA record.

I'm still pretty 'eh' about SOTW, but I can definitely hear the Lizzy/Kill Kill quality to it that people were mentioning. LFA is beautiful. The second half hits more with me.

I think she was being genuine when she wrote the song and probably did it as an immediate reaction to the news, rather than a cynical attempt at woke points. But, as has been pointed out, she seems to have a very shallow understanding of sociopolitical issues, including within the context of mass shootings. So while I appreciate it as a beautiful and heartfelt expression of grief and reflection, I have a hard time taking it seriously as any kind of political statement.
