The album is pretty good! Aside from Better Man and All By Myself, I think I like all the other tracks and some are great. My favourites are Like a Saviour, Higher Than Heaven, Easy Lover, Cure for Love, Let It Die, Intuition and Tastes Like You I actually enjoy all her previous albums (Delirium was just too fluffed but there is a good 12-track album hiding there, and Brightest Blue feels definitely slower but I also appreciate its highs) my current ranking is: Halcyon > Higher Than Heaven > Delirium > Brightest Blue > Halcyon Days > Lights

I DON'T KNOW THIS KEEPS CHANGING UGH right now probably it's as follows: Taco Truck x VB Candy Necklace Let the Light In Fishtail Paris, Texas A&W Did you know that there's a tunnel under Ocean Blvd Peppers The Grants Fingerprints Kintsugi Grandfather please stand on the shoulders of my father while he's deep-sea fishing Sweet Margaret

what I remember reading was that the first one was a demo and the second leak was a more finished version BUT I also read that the second leak sounded rougher than the first so idk. iirc I didn't even download the second leak because of that.

do you think an "unreleased" album would be a good idea

Imagine having Ultraviolence Side B, Honeymoon Side B and Lust for Life Side B like real albums someday -

I think she should drop a 6-unreleased-track EP every now and then, at least that would be more cohesive. I wouldn't want a collection of unreleased material thrown around like a playlist, and maybe some EP series would be more cohesive, condensed and practical way to release scrapped material that she could still like to put out but didn't make it on any album. Or release special editions for anniversaries (UV and HM are the closest from now) but BTD really lost and it really had some gems that didn't make it. -

Blue Banisters - Post-Release Discussion Thread + Poll

lol you're right, it's more of a playlist rather than a mixtape. wish people would stop using mixtape as a derogatory term when there's nothing bad about mixtapes lol -
maybe now I'm just clowning myself probably it's the same vocal take but to me it sounded different somehow, not only clearer. maybe it's just me lol don't mind me much
-
yeah it's not buried - maybe the mixing is not clear enough and definitely the EQ is not well executed. sometimes it sounds like she's too close to the mic and they didn't reduce the lower frequencies aka it sounds too muffled. that sort of keeps me from fully enjoy all of the songs. and what annoys me the most is the stark contrast with songs like The Grants, title track or Let the Light In, where her vocals are loud and clear, sometimes too much it even clips
-
I've continued to listen to the album in these past days and I'm truly amazed. Hail Mary, Silver Bridges and title track are my favourites, but now I grew to love everything on it there's really not a bad song in the album she really did THAT.
-
with Sirens is less noticeable imo. the changes are more subtle, and with the Spek being almost identical to the leaked one, I literally thought Mel went to put the leaked version in the album. In Tunnel Vision is very evident, it's even a different vocal take
-
yup, particularly in Kintsugi, Peppers, A&W and Fishtail for me. I don't know why, but it should be executed in a clearer way. Literally if that little thing was fixed, several of these songs would sound more fleshed out to me. yeah, it's totally the best piano on a Lana song I've heard in a while. Candy Necklace is in my top 3, and while I skip the interludes, I loved the piano in the Jon Batiste interlude, it really sounds otherworldly. maybe i should bring back the JB interlude to my regular listenings when i play the album

ngl I literally had to google this, I HAVE to laugh Ellie girl I love you but

Blue Banisters - Post-Release Discussion Thread + Poll
Glitter Boy replied to Elle's topic in Post-Release Threads
Thank heavens y'all brought the "mixtape" derogatory misconception to the table. Why is a mixtape inferior to an album? Just remember Charli XCX's mixtapes Number 1 Angel and Pop 2 are right there and they've been often considered as superior than some of her actual albums. A mixtape and an album are not quite different from each other aside from its denomination but it's literally the same way to create them, both could or could not feature artists, spawn singles, have a tour for further promotion, get music videos, scrapped tracks... Little side note - mixtapes' most notable difference with albums is that the former are usually less restrictive than albums in terms of creative freedom, but not even that is a requisite. Sorry for the topic deviation, just in case. -

Wildflower Wildfire Dealer Black Bathing Suit If You Lie Down with Me Thunder (considering the demo) Violets for Roses Nectar of the Gods Living Legend Text Book Blue Banisters Arcadia Sweet Carolina Beautiful Cherry Blossom Interlude - The Trio I really think that it's overhated ngl. Yeah sometimes the tracklist feels wonky, sometimes the album goes too slow, but by no means I think it's a bad record. Yeah it lacks bops but it doesn't lack quality per se. Some lines should've been rewritten or removed (Picasso line in Beautiful, some parts of title track etc.) but it's not a big deal I guess. In the end it's what Lana wanted for that album and I love its intimate nature. -
Leak All My Lovers Die, Innocent Kind and some other album tracks so the thread doesn't get locked for lack of subject matter

Okay I think it's time My album ranking (from most to least favourite): Sirens The Contortionist Evil Pluto Tunnel Vision Powder Void Back From the Dead Amulet Interlude Battle of the Larynx Womb Light Shower Leeches Færie Soirée Spider Web Moon Cycle Nymphology
-
Damn, I'm just listening to Powder and Pluto. Powder is really great, production is brilliant. I don't even mind the pitched voice, the track is so good. And Pluto was impressive as well, it hits so hard they're the perfect combo along with Sirens, this deluxe was definitely the cherry on top Oh Melanie I'm sorry I doubted you
-
I also threw this together and kinda liked it - very simple but it's by far my favourite shot of the era so
-
it could be the same file that leaked remastered, but at least she didn't pull a Lana releasing a remastered YouTube rip
-
Fingers Crossed, Needle & Thread, Garden, Dragon's Blood, original Death, original Void and Synchronicities really make a very solid companion EP I'm just so happy for Sirens being released I knew she couldn't pay her dust
