yup yup, I think it goes around the lines of calling her 'uninspired' (I've seen that a LOT in other forums) but like if you check around, like more than half of the 'mainstream' artists out there are TRULY uninspired just throwing a very soulless beat into a mixer along with very mediocre vocal delivery and call it a day. Probs Ava's strongest feat is her vocals and that's why I like her so much. And yes, Diamonds & Dancefloors is a perfect dance pop album

but I do like Field Trip and Brain & Heart I'm aware that B&H sounds like an unfinished demo production wise but I do like the beat lol. maybe I was too disappointed with K-12 that I took everything I could with AS.

I bet After School would've worked amazing if: 1) it wasn't marketed as a K-12 deluxe (there's NOTHING related between both projects) 2) production was switched up a bit cause it's a little of snoozefest as it was delivered, some rework would've been beneficial for it 3) it was released as an album with songs like History, Lost & Found, Under the Desk, Absorb or Function in a more polished, final form. in the end, I would've gladly waited till 2021 for a full album that sounded more fleshed out. 4) Fire Drill or Copy Cat were marketed as singles from K-12 as they are the only two songs that actually connect a little with K-12 YET they were also omitted from After School so

ngl I hate the mask and the overall visuals a little more each day but I wonder how it will all look like in the film. I have the feeling it will all look better in motion (mvs or the film itself) rather than the current stills / promo pics we have.

Yeah, probably if that was reduced in like 75%, the album would improve a lot. so the bad thing actually is to overuse elements... let's hope she doesn't overuse the færie/alien-esque imagery or it will seem tired too at some extent.

I'd skip Orange Juice too but I like the instrumental so I let it slip. (also adding the three outtakes we have is a slight improvement) After School - Glued okay but for real if you arrange 13 brilliant CB outtakes you have a skipless album right there, even more than one

yup that's probably why ABBA didn't approve their sample in Emotions. with Madonna, well she used the instrumental melody but it was a completely different song. Ava basically redid Lay All Your Love on Me with new lyrics, but the melody and even the production is very similar. if it was a, er, more clever usage of the sample (instead of a copy-paste) maybe they would've approved the track? idk

ngl the character thingy should be left for mvs / film, and in the album it all should be told by herself / her character i guess.. i mean with the leaks not having that pitch alteration it actually sounds beautiful and to me the k-12 songs having that overuse pitch change doesn't. i hope in the album no pitched up or down vocals were added.

Besides Not Your Barbie Girl and Get Outta My Heart, I actually don't mind Ava using samples lmao but yeah, for the sake of innovating that should be left in the past by now. I'm really intrigued by whatever the deluxe version of D&D will include - hopefully no more samples.

I came back to Serpentina last week and it's not as bad as I remember. It's just not as iconic as her first three albums. But I actually bop to most of it! The Deadend - Holding Back - The Devil - Skinnydipped - Burn tracks run is excellent ngl I didn't really pay attention to the album after a couple listens on release month and then forgot about it, but now I guess I'll have it on rotation more frequently

for me: 1) such an outlier from the album 2) feels bland compared to anything else on the record 3) ngl i cringe at the melody in the chorus like there's no reason for me hating on it at all, i just very dislike it

'go girl give us nothing', 'i've lost hope already' like??????? she just announced an album??? it's more than she's done in the last couple years so just sit tight and hold up a month. we've waited since 2020 for new material so 1 month won't harm anyone right? i very highkey want the tracklist too but damn it won't be too long from now unless the album gets surprise-delayed till like autumn or something

omg not when i thought we basically had everything ngl the most I'm curious about is Cry Baby and pre-Cry Baby. The 2013 EP was essentially a full album considering all we have from it. Whoa Melanie's output has always been so proliferous thanks for putting this together
