Ultraviolence - Pre-Release Thread
lola replied to lflflflflflflflflflf's topic in Retired Pre-Release Threads
So because Lana is on a major label and is commercially successful she's not allowed to do what she wants and they have all the say? They didn't promote Paradise or Tropico so I don't think they're that focused on her selling as much as possible. She said that she loves the album and she's been said to be very stubborn so I doubt she would release something that's just made to sell well. And a few users here really are way too condescending with their "Oh kids, I know the industry, don't be so naive" talk. Afaik none of you have released a record on a major label so I don't know how you feel like you know so much about it. -

Why are you getting so riled up, @@Ultra-Violence? You have no idea how Lana has worked on past albums or on this one so calm down and stop acting like you know everything. -
I mean it is possible, someone must have been at all of those shows between 2006 and 2010, I know of a guy who isn't a fan of hers but used to live in New York and go to those kinds of shows and met her briefly (he said she was either on drugs or seriously artsy ). But yeah most of them are probably lying.

Well I don't really get how this worked because afaik she was working with Dan by herself and Emile and Dan weren't there so... did he just like layer stuff on other tracks or? Because that seems kind of odd to me. Maybe she was working on the Black Beauty-esque album with Emile and Dan, then got pissed when it leaked, forgot about it and recorded an entirely new album with Dan... -

Hm, Nirvana kind of has sentimental value to me, like I'm more interested in Kurt's early life than the music, the music is just a way to learn about that to me, and I really like the Unplugged, it's pretty beautiful. I haven't really liked any of the other Springsteen albums I've heard so I thought maybe you'd like that more if you hadn't heard that but if you don't that's fine

Have you listened to Nebraska? It's one of my favourite albums

Minor General Questions that Don't Deserve Their Own Thread

Now Hill has designed the Del Rey bag, which she says is frankly an homage to the performer. The satchel, a classic Mulberry carryall that sports a tassel on its frequently amusing clasp (one model has a fastener in the shape of a turtle) is available in mock croc, lambskin, and other leathers. But there is one version you won’t find at your local Mulberry shop when the bags launch in May: It is white ostrich, and just a single example was custom-made for Del Rey—because, Hill says, white is the singer’s favorite color and she loves shiny gold. http://www.vogue.com/vogue-daily/article/lanas-signature-accessory-mulberry-launches-new-del-rey-bag-in-honor-of-the-singer/#1 -
Ugh that's such a teenage boy thing to do, with a slideshow oh god. Not -quite- as cringeworthy as Jared Leto though http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=b5Kf4zBL6V8

Well I guess not everyone will like it, you don't have to try to like anything. And yeah, most female singers bother me. I think HAIM is an all-girl band but idk really

I kinda like Deftones lol. And I'm surprised that so many people can't get into male singers, it's the opposite for me usually

Maybe we should create a section for more recent shows like the Early Shows section. Idk I'd be up for it if I could become a mod. -
Ugh I hate Hospice. It annoyed me the entire time I was listening to it. The vocals bother me and the lyrics feel so forced. It's actually one of the only albums I've really disliked. I wanted to like Animal Collective because the guys seem really nice and very into what they're doing and I like Thom Yorke's solo From the Basement session so I wish I liked Radiohead more but idc about Arcade Fire.

Anyone can edit Wikipedia pages but unless you can provide good sources backing up your statement it's deleted (as the fake song titles have been). + why is she on his lap, that's weird. she'll publicly flirt with anyone but barrie, poor guy -
Frank Ocean, PJ Harvey, The Antlers, Arcade Fire, Animal Collective, Neutral Milk Hotel, Radiohead, Godspeed You! Black Emperor, Daft Punk, Weezer, Sigur Ros... idk I've never desperately tried to get into something, this is just some stuff that I thought I might like that I didn't end up liking.

her skype name used to be malloryknoxxxx or something like that she quoted it on her old twitter (see my signature)

The cover looks like generic EDM-esque pop. And that photo neither Lana's nor Chuck's style. -
waiting for my $100 tbh

It looks like she's wearing something...that white fabric covering her butt

Is Young Like Me/Rock Me Stable really Quiet Now though?
