TNWWY is lyrically better than True/EYL but it's not the masterpiece I was expecting it to be...hoping for the Superstar demo next simply because the final is so trash
I thought the superstar demo was like the first thing to leak from this era after release?
just checked and it was actually discord quality snippets. Rip. But doesn't sound too different apart from the trap drums

I think someone here once said that we spend more time discussing L+F than Marina probably did to create it and... that's right on the head nnn.
It's a boring album with basic songs and well that's it. Take what you want and run with it. I listen to Karma\You\No More Suckers sometimes and grew to appreciate Orange Trees a little so... alright I guess. At least she seems to be interested into doing another record so it's not a bittersweet feeling that this was also her last album or whatever and she'll probably come back with something else that's also good.
She released 3 great albuns and 1 meh album. Let's just pray this is the exception and not the upcoming rule.
-
So she's moving to DJ collabs already
https://twitter.com/TheBRJewels/status/1186110267358404609
fits the brand of her name from "european pop girl who released one hit single in 2004 and went back to the void"
-
Do we have anything from "Water Under The Bridge?"
Curious for this one + There's Nothing Wrong With You in full. TNWWY honestly sounds like it really deserved a spot on the album. I just know it.
For all these unreleaseds:
(TNWWY)>The Art Of Letting Go (Marinesque Song) > Please Don't Call Me (Sharp production) > Worth It (Alright, inoffensive) > Cruel Rule (bad because too rough for real)
-
I really felt like the Karma piano demo was actually an... edit. With stems? I don't know, listened only once, really beautiful but felt the vocals too familiar (and... wel... "good" for a piano demo). This 90s demo is... something.
Worth it is cute but if it was an album track it would be just... another one. Reminds me a lot of You I guess.
Art Of Letting Go was the one that got me feeling a bit more inspired and maybe miss Diamandis still "having it" sometimes. Looking forward the next one.

exactly + to watch sis not singing at all
I Screamed so loud.
Honestly same, I only have money for a 1 day ticket and it hurts to pay to only see her. I really hope Charli, Kali and Mika all perform in the same day so the money will be worth it
I was there and I had the time of my life even though I was almost dying from exhaustion lmao the energy she gives live is so different from what we see from the videos, but I do hope she keeps improving as the shows go by... this tour started kinda whack but these past two shows have been amazing so lets hope the good sis can keep her momentum.
At least last time we got Get Free for the first time (?) in a full performance. Maybe this time she'll do like Fuck It I Love You nn.
-
I believe it's something with demand. No idea about her status in Asia tbh, not sure they're into her "american" thing but def. It's odd she never played over there (especially after cancelling years ago). I imagine that maybe it can happen in 2020. Local promoters need to be aware of her presence and the fans interested as well so time to put some hashtags on twitter hunny nn
-
Warning that they're super crusty cuz my phone honestly SUCKS at audio recording.
Pretty sure #1 is the Party Trouper song y'all are talking about. #3 is my favorite.
The final part of snippet 3 reminds me of the chorus of "byob" by System of Down or smth
I wonder if there's a possibility of this record coming within 2 months after she toured with Charli + Marina or she'll just hold it til like summer 2020
-
I feel mixed feeling if it really is worth to pay even more to watch the (almost) same show from 2018 + 3 brand new songs?
Hopefully sis will be the same day as Charli and kacey and kali uchis and pabllo and i wish it could be the same as gwen but they're both "sub-headliners" so no way

Ooh, lots of stuff then! Thanks!
Yep but these doesn't mean she's nominated... yet!
This is part of the Grammy cycle\Promo and lowkey shows they're interested...
Now let's pray she won't cancel it like 10 minutes before the show and just set fire on her chances

People discussing "Fans are being too loud!!" I have to laugh. It's an Arena concert. Of course sometimes things will end up being "too much" but it's part of the experience and after this.
https://www.thefader.com/2014/06/04/cover-story-lana-del-rey-is-anyone-she-wants-to-be
"It’s just heavy performing for people who really care about you, and you don’t really care that much about yourself sometimes. I thought it was sad. I thought my position was sad. I thought it was sad to be in Ireland singing for people who really cared when I wasn’t sure if I did.”
I doubt she really would stop singing just because her fans were singing back. Also, we're not in the 70s anymore and she's not doing an "open night" show. There's technology that allows people to listen to their band + their own voice and don't miss marks and stuff (especially in a concert that has been secured with backtrack that some fans also call "playback").
This was at my concert with the craziest people in the world. Yes, Brazil. And I believe the first "full live" of Get Free.
By the end you can see she's pointing microphone to the people. There's nothing more special than hearing thousands people singing the words you wrote.
The problem with The Greatest is just that she's a bit lazy (something that already came out of her mouth while talking about the pop world) to do her stuff right. I don't think it makes her a bitch that she didn't sind the chorus to the song after doing most of it acapella, and sometimes she really just didn't have the words right. I don't think she really rehearsed the new album. But at least she's trying so let's wait and see if there's a miracle and she decided to promote NORMAN FUCKING ROCKWELL on the NORMAN FUCKING ROCKWELL TOUR.

I'll sadly have to disagree errr
I mean... if we take Not so Bad in LA off we have... Casanova, Paper Love & Catch as videos that actually were shot with some budget...
Then there's All The Rage, Bitch, Too Much To Dream, Sunflower* & Last Xmas*...
* I actually forgot these songs, imagine that they had music videos......
-
What in hell... I'm really wondering if these videos were budget ones (Sanctuary) or iPhone Made (Too Much To Dream\Bitch) and WHY THE HELL KEEP THEM IF YOU RELEASED CASANOVA & PAPER LOVE.
I love how messy it is. 24\7 where are you??
--
For the design talk going on, I actually find most of her stuff really cute (clothes in general especially). I mean when we look at some big pop girls they're literally selling shirts with square album covers printed on it and calling it a day....
She probably doesn't have the money
1. for designers.
2. produce stuff.
Super Sunset aesthetic was a bit "tricky" since it was mainly inspired by a Internet-Thing that has been tired for a few years now, yet she managed to pull some good visuals (including Not So Bad in LA being probably top 3 in her videography. Not that hard in her case but nnn). The photos were really great and at least there was some type of focus while creating these.
CLX II was interesting and then we found things like the gifs that were meant to be with different songs\released and it left a bittersweet taste in my mouth but... that was ok. She had some really cool packages with stuff like the Story of X and Fanzine thing.
edit: and at least all her vinyl are beautiful and they match perfectly every album!!1111!!
fuck I still want the Yellow SS and Mintgreen CLX II

releasing downhill before a concrete album rollout was in place and without even having finalized masochism was a very poor choice honestly
I know I'm like 12 days late but at this point if she released 1 single every 6 months for the rest of her life at least we would be getting music because at this point waiting for her album is just... unrealistic.
-
I have no clue of why she goes this way but it's just clear she's unhappy with her own work and will keep it going forever. Reminds me of the SZA story of someone from her label picking her HD and doing the tracklist for her CTRL album because she wouldn't stop recording.
Sky has been talking about this record since 2014, she teased countless snippets and there are probably thousand songs that she just wouldn't find good enough to tease. She mentioned Guardian as a single back in 2015. She mentioned another lead single in 2016. She mentioned that fucking visual EP of whatever the fuck that was in 2017\18. She mentioned "Love Street" and "Fire".
And she also had a pretty clear visual-direction for the whole thing, no way it would be so clear without music to come along.
Also don't forget:
- Downhill Lullaby (Orchestra)
- Downhill Lullaby Video
- Voices Carry (Video that she recycled from another song)
-
Electra Heart (song) lyrics are really good. "For forgiveness you could always pray \ that the sickness, it could go away" and "At the altar, would you pay the price? Would You give you, Would You give your life?" lines... ugh her mind. I miss her.
I think it's a bit "non-sense" with the title itself + doesn't really fit the record but I love it. Too bad the instrumental is kinda cheap too.
Not sure about this being done before the Record itself was done but even if that was the case, it was def. finished after the record was released, just like How To Be a Heartbreaker was written too late (and probably E.V.O.L.)
Every record of hers had some type of "Oh well maybe I'll re-release it!!" and then "nevermind it's over" moment, so it wouldn't be such a surprise that these songs were done\finished after the whole body of work was released.
-
I watched the movie with friend of mine who used to stan and it was... so bad. The movie is plain Bad.
Beautiful art direction tho. She should stick into that and not... directing. Or writing scripts at all.
For the album... I only remember Lunchbox Friends and Highschool Sweethearts (and a bit of Strawberry Shortcake I guess). Well it's over.

Also Doin' Time shouldn't be performed in full, a cover shouldn't get that much attention. A medley with High By The Beach or even Summertime Sadness would be cute though.
Doin' Time at least is released under her album and... it's the closest thing she had of a "Hit" ever since Summertime Sadness (Remix).
She did covers on every tour apart from LA To The Moon so but at least this time around the song is a "LANA" one.
It's a nice vibe as well.
-
I fucking love Off To The Races but honestly... I was cute when most of the songs til Honeymoon were downtempo and it really missed a "bop moment" where she could just speed things up a little.
Now we have Doin' Time, High By The Beach, Summer Bummer... And, yes, we used to scream about it but now it's been performed since 2015 nonstop. You can give it a break and... rotate songs.
-
I'll just create the perfect setlist in my mind since Lana can't obiously do that
01 Norman Fucking Rockwell
02 Blue Jeans
03 Cinnamon Girl
04 White Mustang
05 Love Song
06 Yayo
07 Video Games
08 Summertime Sadness
09 Black Beauty/California/Ride/Hope [Medley]
10 Honeymoon
11 Looking for America
12 Mariners Apartment Complex
13 West Coast
14 Born to Die
15 Shades of Cool
16 Cherry
17 Ultraviolence
18 Off to the Races
19 Doin Time
20 Venice Bitch
21 The Greatest
This would be, honestly, iconic.
The only thing I'd change would be 22. Fuck it I love You to close the show. Imagine these synths\guitar and the backtrack repeating the chorus while she goes out... I can hear the stand ovation.
