  7. interesting! i never really saw it as that but i like that. i think the romantic aspect of this song is actually what confuses me the most about it. all the stuff about drug abuse, moving away to escape ur demons, etc etc all adds up for me but the romantic elements i've really struggled to interpret. i think you're right though, and i think the idea is that the love is the simple part - all that other stuff, the struggle, the depression, the drugs... that's the hard bit. still, she makes it seem like she's struggling to both give and receive this love. thanks for sharing
  8. i don't think she's necessarily intentionally imitating as you're describing, but i do think ariana is behind the weird lack of annunciation in the chorus lmao - makes me think of when lana posted that clip of her singing along to ariana's song 'pete davidson' where she's like "uhmma be appy appy uhmma be appy appy" lmao she prolly thought it sounded cool, that lazy style of singing. personally i don't like it for lana but doesn't make me like the song any less anyways what i actually came to this thread for was: how come some people find this song to be sad? i find it quite sweet and happy

  10. i feel the above in a way! her behaviour drives me so crazy sometimes.
  11. stanning this gal is so annoying..... lady gaga SAY SOMETHING RELEASE SOMETHING DO SOMETHING PLZ edit: but as far as amazing artpop songs go, fashion! says hi
  12. i can't believe HIAB was like my least anticipated NFR! songs but it turned out to be one of my favourites. it's not your typical ballad; the subtle guitars really take it to another level and the "don't be a jerk don't call me a taxi" parts feel strangely kinda punk rock against the soft sad backdrop of the piano, i love the contrast. it doesn't have her greatest lyrics but i love the way the song kind of just sounds like a stupid drunken fight - don't call me a taxi i'm not too wasted! i just wanna dance w u! etc etc hahah and the one lyric i really love is "left the canyon, drove to the club; i was one thing, now i'm being another" - it reminds me of how sometimes i'll spend the day behaving myself, looking after my body and my mind, being a peaceful lady of the canyon until i decide 'screw it' and just go party and get drunk and be this totally different type of person. edited to fix typos oops
  13. i love this interpretation ! i'm really intrigued by the juxtaposition of adult lana and child lana. we all know she went thru some shit when she was younger, so i'm really intrigued by how she interprets innocence and even just her family life overall. yesssss and i know lana's politics can be questionable at the best of times haha but i love the way she even calls kanye out by name, it's like damn... like she said before, the loss of his strong mindedness and status as cultural commentator really did feel like a loss for the culture. the song feels like such a stream of consciousness but the looseness of its articulation just makes it feel more honest to me, and also super relatable - when ur going thru personal changes and struggle and u look at society and see almost a mirror image of that idea, it hits different
  14. in a sense i agree, but then i'm also intrigued by the "calling from beyond the grave" part - it's a v rude and nosy question to ask lol but was this a time she felt suicidal/depressed? did touring/moving away from home/anything like that kinda make her feel like a ghost? when i feel beyond blue the last thing i want is to speak to my parents - i wonder if that's something she misses when it all gets too much.
  15. this is a great question!! i might just dive right in the deep end and ask who exactly the title track is about, or i might ask exactly what the iPad line from hope is about
  16. im so sorry i really hope you guys are able to figure something out - if you need any advice or suggestions if you do end up coming to england let me know!
  17. of course, that seems stressful! can any of the hotels be refunded?
  18. awww omg well on the plus side amsterdam is awesome so maybe you guys can arrange to do something? go to a coffee shop, smoke a j and insist they play lana all night?! i'm so sorry for you guys, my gig was on the 26th and that was bad enough but i can't even imagine finding out the day before !!
  19. this is kinda what i was thinking - if nothing else perhaps she'll need to get back on her feet w singing and for that she'll get a coach maybe?? and then her voice will feel a little more trained?? i love her voice as it is ofc but she's clearly not v confident with it or even eager to prove she can sing amazingly so this might, in the long run, make her shows much better
