She was, but it she also didn't know if she had anything important to say in her songs, etc. etc. Did she really have to try arranging flowers and go to the psychology course? I know Jess is not a psychologist but still she should've helped her with that. Anyway, she is the one who let her change her name to MARINA even though she should've known 100% how bad the decision was and that there's plenty of artists named Marina. Of course Marina is independent and has the final say, but, although I might be wrong, it feels like Jess was like "ok whatever you do you gurl". Derek MacKillop, on the other hand, did not let Marina create Electra Heart as a side project, which was a dumb decision too, seeing that she did work with Dr. Luke anyway I highly doubt Electra Heart suceeded the way she did just because Marina had already been known in the music industry.

She didn't even bother adding single artworks on Spotify and some people did point out that she was trying to promote herself more instead of Marina on that YouTube q&a thing. She also did probably nothing to engage Marina in music when she took hiatus. I dunno though, nobody knows what goes on behind closed doors. Anyway, I don't think David is responsible for Ancient Dreams bad rollout, it's more of a COVID thing. However, him blocking Marina stans on Instagram is way too much lol.

100% sure. He's obsessed with remixes but I don't see it a bad thing. Jess was also in charge for Love + Fear sooo...
-
Why would Marina promote Lana's work when she had no impact on her art, unlike Marina on Billie. I mean, even if I had a dear friend, I would not be bragging about them on my stories all the time or anything.

Am I the only one who prefers this album to her debut? Also I love t.A.T.u. vibes in NDA.
-
I like it. Very Violet style though, not Allie's, maybe apart from the 80s aesthetic. Anyway, enjoyable. Cape God deluxe? Love the idea! Also please, let it be jewel case. I might even buy it.

Immortal, Valley of the Dolls, Teen Idle, Fear & Loathing, Soft to be Strong, Solitaire, Obsessions. Highly doubt it, especially since she didn't even sing it on the last concert (I love the song though).

She really lost herself when she fell in love with Jack. Glad she's back.
-
Wow, she really did something, lol. That was recorded 3 weeks ago or so I guess, right now she's just recovering from covid.
-
Well at least we can say she wanted her fans to hear the album instead of making us wait for those vinyls just in order to chart. Anyway a deluxe would be nice, especially if it were to be released the same time the vinyls are. That would be an interesting move and would help her chart again.

I actually think she really is fine with being popular in such a level she is, because she is a millionaire after all and doesn't seek success on a bigger level, she's too introvert and anxiety-driven to be recognised on streets, she says she's uncomfortable with that, so I believe her, but yes, she doesn't have to say that every now and then. However, her saying now that she doesn't even read critic reviews and her sad post on socials after L+F that she keeps having nightmares with airplane crashing or something like that is a thing that she should definitely work with and go to a damn therapist instead of reading psychology books. Her obsession with protecting her own mental health is avoidance, but it is not healing.
-
She must be thinking that not caring whether she charts or not is nonconforming lol.

Oh I know! I just meant the overall album complaint, not just a single track one. We'll see.

Lana did detach herself from the sadgirl suicide persona with NFR, agreed 100%. Its influence on popculture or anything else -- not at all. This album would've made no difference to the world, trust me. Comparing it to a cultural phenomenon that Born to Die was is a joke. And the fact that Jack is recycling the same material over and over says nothing about Lana really, he did the same with Melodrama and 'New York' by St. Vincent before working with her. This just happens with producers who get to work with so many different artists. We could also say that Rick Nowels had a similar impact on Lana Del Rey, Marina, Lykke Li and Madonna, but just because Madonna was the first with Ray of Light to work with him doesn't make Madonna's Ray of Light responsible for Lust for Life or Electra Heart. Nowels, however, never made sound repetitive. Antonoff though... I didn't like NFR to begin with, but now what was unique of that project is becoming generic in the music industry and for me makes it lose its value. This is not good at all. Hope the Pitchfork says something about it. Anyway enjoy this kinda exaggerated meme I made today.

Not this sounding like a damn NFR outtake. Solar Power is cute but that's enough lol.
-
after writing 'tryna get back as fast i can'? she used not to make grammatical mistakes so idk
-
she really isn't hungry doesn't proofread her lyrics anymore
-
i was joking there but clearly her youtube team is dumb for MATD/Marina inconsistency and especially leaking purge the poison. video thumbnails aren't really that cute too
-
her team proved to be ruining her career yet again

LOL they seriously changed the song title because of tiktok Anyway it's only youtube thing so who cares. But why did they do that just now? Is Oh No! trending again? "wE cAn'T go BaCk To tHe PaSt i WiLl nOt mAkE BubBleGuM bItCh vIdEO"

What Lana Del Rey song best highlights her skills as a musician?
vrtvie replied to TheGlitterandGold's topic in Lana Thoughts
shades of cool, obvious other than that, probably million dollar man, gods & monsters, west coast, cruel world, off to the races, honeymoon, terrence loves you, young & beautiful and the like -
I feel like Pink Convertible would help in that. It ain't a ballad and it was political so I guess the balance would work better, as I probably have said already. Anyway at least we have Man's World, Ancient Dreams, Purge the Poison, Flowers, Highly Emotional People, Venus -- I'm really happy with all these tracks, almost all of them are 10/10, I can forgive her clunky lyrics somewhere because the production is magnificent. Goodbye is nice but not quite there, it's too dramatic for me to enjoy it on a daily basis. New America, I Love Me More, Pandora's Box -- you could do better than that.

they were sent via mailing list but they're not included on spotify for some weird reason even tho handmade heaven is. karma on the other hand had no official single cover whatsoever
-
Oops It's not necessarily that I hate the aesthetic, but her face is so small and the rest of the package is just plain gray background and I'm really not fond of that, especially since it is so different from the rest of her discography. Anyway that's purely subjective, so I don't care about it that much; what is serious is those single covers, i.e. Superstar, Orange Trees, and Karma that didn't even have a cover on mailing list. WIth David at least I'm happy to see everything having different art covers. Nonetheless, the promotion (incl. vinyl delay, "hot pink" vinyl for Man's World etc.) is so bad this era I am speechless, though I'm unsure if it's his responsibility or Atlantic's.

I hate Jess for letting the black and white album cover happen as well as no single covers on Spotify like what the fuck
