This is like a movie being nominated for best picture at the Oscars but not having a chance at pretty much every component that makes a movie good: no best actors, no best script, no best direction, cinematography, production. Just that "best picture" nomination. This is why award shows should have a laughing track when they announce the nominees, let alone the winners.

Minor General Questions that Don't Deserve Their Own Thread
ChicaCherryCola replied to Monicker's topic in Lana Thoughts
I'm biased, but I love this one of National Anthem at SBSR 2012, it just seems so fun and light! -
@maxthehitman I think you mean was, the last one was this Thursday I went to her Thursday show and even though she was 1h40m late, those 5+ hours I spent alone (I didn't have anyone to talk with and was really just there waiting with my thoughts) without a cellphone were totally cool, and let me tell you I was having one of the worst migraines I've ever had. I usually record full songs from concerts so I can rewatch at home whenever I want (even though I don't look at the screen and keep it at my height so I don't bother anyone) and this break was pretty much needed. I'm 5'2' and I could actually SEE an artist's face for once because no one had their arms up to record the whole deal on their phones. There were no lights in the audience coming from screens or flashes - all dark, I could see everybody's faces. I can actually remember viewing the stage during Like a Prayer in amazing detail, and Act III (Fado Club) was pure magic, and I'm afraid it would've have been like this otherwise. If anything, I think many people in the audience were left wondering why they even went. It's like some didn't really know what to do and how to enjoy themselves without a phone in their hands. We don't really know how to attend concerts anymore. I don't really care why she chose to do this. Marketing or not, this was overall a better experience for me. She sells DVDs and posts excerpts, it was a close space. Performing is a temporary service and she had the right to define her terms. This was a matter of respect and although I'm just a tiny bit sad I don't have any personal media memory, I actually hope once again other artists feel inspired by her and take similar measures. A cellphone ban in a tour in the age of Instagram was BRAVE (wake-up call )

I just came back from a show and hearing her talk about dick sizes at my mom's age was worth every single penny of my ticket. God is a woman.

The Norman Fucking Rockwell Tour - Predictions Thread
ChicaCherryCola replied to Elle's topic in 2019 NFR Tour
She's performing at Primavera in Barcelona. Primavera in Portugal usually gets like 60% of the lineup, I wish she stopped here too but I think she will be a skip for us once again. -

Probably what she said during production when people around her kept questioning Lust for Life's overall quality -

I always thought that when young girls said they could relate to her songs, they meant the feeling, not the actual situations. And being proud of some of those... gosh, I'm sorry for them. Like, for instance, I don't really listen to Video Games, but when she says "they say that the world was built for two, only worth living if somebody is loving you", I can say I perfectly understand what she means and that I feel it, but I also recognize it's not healthy to have that mindset. I think it's one of those kind of things people feel from time to time, despite knowing it's bad for them. Being able to relate to a song in that way is like a truthful guilty pleasure.

I thought tickets were expensive but Madame X tour program is 40$... Yikes. Also, I'm so disappointed by the lack of Hung Up and Material Girl in the setlist, I wanted to shake my bum to those songs live

I'm not gonna really speculate about her mom because what the hell do I know, but just my two cents on the matter as a person who had a rather odd raising: There's always two sides to the same story. Lana may perceive a certain situation as negative while her parents may seem nothing wrong with it. And vice-versa. One side may not have fully disclosed feelings about the other. Her mom might just be camera shy or simply rather be away from the spotlight and Internet. Rob still posts a bunch of pictures of Patty so I guess they're still together? Or at least in good terms. I'm pretty sure there's a couple of tweets that might be more descritive. Just because there's a lot of pictures around of Lana and her parents together, it does not mean they get along that well. It might be more like a chore for one side. Most of bad situations don't even need or allow to fully cut ties with the other. Same thing regarding Rob supporting Lana. He seems interested in his daughters' careers, but it doesn't mean it was always that way or that it is 100% genuine. She may not want to share certain informations because she might feel that her closed ones will suffer. It doesn't mean they did her any harm - it could be the other way around, even if in more an indirect way. I know everything seems fishy and that we're interested in hearing more, but we're talking about Lana. I'm not saying that she's a liar and that she didn't suffer, but we have no idea what she's talking about in that interview. I'm not sure if it's fair to blame a woman we barely know when Lana herself might be the guilty one.
