I would be so happy with a 20-30 track unreleased compilation but at the same time I would hate to see unreleased tracks from all different eras being messily put onto a compilation. My dream would be little B side collections for each album/era so things are kept in some kind of order, but at this point I’m happy with anything.

re-release AKA, give us a 30 track unreleased collection, and give us a UV ultra deluxe 10th anniversary collection next year with 15 b-sides thank you QUEEN!

I know I've been saying this a lot of times already but Lana does not work/think in b-sides/outtakes.

We have so much proof of her going back to things from seemingly unrelated "eras" for new projects…doing reworks, rewrites, etc. It’s virtually impossible to structure the majority of her unreleased catalogue into eras or outtakes. She began recording material for and from Born to Die in 2007 technically. Paradise, Ultraviolence and Honeymoon recording sessions have also extremely blurry time lines.

Personally, I think most of the songs from 2009-2012 could work within the context of a compilation and everything from 2012-2016.

I think sonically, her turning points are:

    2009 (post-AKA - pre-BTD)

    2011 (BTD - LFL)

    2017 (NFR - OB)

to have them in a better, decent, listenable quality. some of her leaks sound awful because of the quality

Also: Not everyone knows how to properly access them and what we're doing here is still piracy lowkey. 😅 She's not seeing any money from the actual work she put into creating these songs. That is why we should care.

In addition to that, I want people to know that it’s Lana who is behind all those amazing songs that go viral on TikTok. She deserves to get acknowledged for the bops she has created and never got to release because of fucking Video Games!

  3. Many artists have released anthology albums and material with outtakes in the past. It’s not exactly a new concept. However, with Lana it’s the case that she is missing out on a lot of revenue, money and recognition. Her leaked material has viral potential. It could elevate her popularity a lot and she would get more streams = more money.

There is absolutely no reason why they shouldn’t do it.

this is kinda off topic but i re-did my local files and it’s the most draining experience ever. the songs wouldn’t sync on my phone and it was so fucking difficult to fix, like it took 3 hours of raging to do it

Oh lord…I was in the same positions as you a while ago. It was dreadful.

From what I remember from BoZ in this thread back in january said, Paradise was actually commissioned by her label because they wanted a re-release of BTD to boost sales, ala The Fame (Monster). The songs on Paradise were songs she was working on for a full album (tropico), and were the ones that were actually full songs and not just ideas. The tropico film, althought just an idea in November 2012, probably would've included more songs like I Talk To Jesus, as ITTJ was almost included on the Tropico EP, and she presumably wanted to include even more songs on it.

It seemed that Tropico was a film and project, that probably would've been most of Paradise along with late 2012-early 2013 outtakes, had the label not pushed her to reissue BTD. Since she wanted to include some songs like ITTJ on the Tropico EP, Tropico was probably going to be a full album/longer EP with many of those songs on that notebook photo, with some of those perhaps being in the film (think K-12 by Melanie Martinez).

But all of this (along with the very confusing timeline) still sounds like speculation. 💀

well, tropico film was released in december 2013 so i think its safe to assume (i believe this was mentioned before in a much earlier page) that the album Tropico was scrapped early in 2013 and was reused for the film simply cos lana or someone really liked it as a title

It must have been scrapped in November 2012 already. She literally had THIS as the description of the now archived/deleted Bel Air visualizer uploaded on November 8, 2012 (shortly before she talked about her plans to male a short film for G&M and Bel Air):

"i lost my reputation, i forgot my truth. But i have my beauty and i have my youth. Tropico the film, coming next year".

Making trans am & Tropico sister albums for the early UV stuff / Paradisey/Tropico stuff will save you all. Inshallah

That’s what I use the playlist option for. In fact, I have been compiling all the post Paradise/pre UV stuff into a Paradise sister album since 2013 but at some point it didn’t sound quite right anymore.

  8. A few people have asked me how I managed to get my unreleased collection to look like this:

    koPVu6d.png

    OSbCo7D.png

    IrVT29O.png
    It‘s pretty easy.

(I‘m on my phone right now, so I had to use pictures from google)

    979516040

When editing the song info on Apple's music app, there are two arrows next to the "song" field. Once you click that, it enables use of "work and movement", meaning that you can sort an album into sections. This is also very helpful when you have dual albums that are technically split into two parts with different titles like Tove Lo's Lady Wood.

It helps me accurately sort her unreleased material by year, even recording sessions would be possible. That way, songs that were most likely recorded with the same group of people… for the same project… at the same time get grouped together. If I knew all the recording dates, I‘d even change the track list according to dates. I've tried sorting them into mixtapes previously, which was fun but just never an accurate display of her work progress imo.

In the comments field, I usually add additional info such as recording dates or OG tags. Basically all the info I don’t want to get lost.

    macos-itunes12-5-my-music-songs-get-info

"Work" is the name of the section or disc. "(Movement) name" is the song title. It’s important that both, the regular view and the work/movement view have the same date in the track and disc number fields below, otherwise things could get messed up. Other than that, it is really easy and so so helpful.

In addition to that, I have made playlists for my personal mixtapes, where I create albums for songs that belong to certain recording sessions or scrapped projects.

i think that they were saying that it was just a brainstormed list of songs they completed (or planned to complete) around that time for inclusion for the album

This, along with the confusing timeline of Paradise's release, TROPICO film announcement, etc. It all doesn’t quite add up. Why would she announce a film (clearly meant for Paradise songs) before working on a seemingly unrelated album with the same title with a tracklist composed of unfinished leftovers, and what else…

I know Lana has a weird way of thinking but that doesn’t even make sense for someone like her.

I think what 111 actually said was something along the lines of (paraphrasing) "I never spoke about the process [mixing] because I didn't understand it much myself". Like I said, perhaps Patrick did leak the songs, and perhaps they weren't the final versions. But he didn't, like BOZ alleged, "create new production and structure for the songs making complete new versions that were unlike what Lana and Rick originally curated". The point I was making is that BOZ's claim that they were fake/unapproved/drastically different is just..not real!

Except, it kinda is and you are pretty much speculating yourself. 💀

I don't even think Tropico as an album was a thing - the timeline and the things she was saying on stage and in interviews doesn't really add up with the idea it was an album itself.

yeah every time I look at that it's only scribbles no matter how much I zoom in lmao

    I agree.

We missed out on that RnB Baby Doll album to be honest.

didn't boz say that she scrapped tropico and made it into an ep because of label related reasons and started working on uv (melancholia)

BOZ is basing his info mostly on metadata from tracks though. So most of this, while based on some details/facts, is still speculation.

Ah you mean the "tracklist" on that paper might be a list of tracks for the short film not for an album?

    yup

Many of those songs weren't even ready by the time that photo was taken. She probably listed those songs to further work on them and see what would come out of it. She then settled with I Talk to Jesus (at first) and then scrapped it again.
