LDR5 - Pre-Release Thread
Mafiosa replied to Say Yes to Heaven's topic in Retired Pre-Release Threads
if i'm honest about this album, i'm not optimistic about it i hate to be negative but it doesn't seem like anything new or exciting (apart from the video, which is EXACTLY what she needed to release). "love" wasn't really a strong single imo. there's little to no real information on it and it just makes me nervous / apprehensive -
i hated every man gets his wish and thought it was always tacky. could NOT listen to it. i've started coming around to it now, but i still prefer 1949 or hawaiian tropic also guns and roses is perhaps her best released song i would say the same for flipside but the lyrics really fall flat

Minor General Questions that Don't Deserve Their Own Thread
Mafiosa replied to Monicker's topic in Lana Thoughts
just wondering if all versions of "lolita" and "black beauty" use the same vocals? when i listen to the different demos and the album versions there seems to be no difference in the vocals, did she just alter the production and the instrumentation then? -
super interesting topic! i love discussing synesthesia and personal sonic and color associations. AKA: BTD: Paradise: Ultraviolence: Honeymoon:

u stan ha laptop demos but get pissy when "godamaya" has a lo-fi feel that fits the surf noir genre so perfectly
-
this is an opinions thread and it's dumb as hell to argue but since u wanna go there 1. some of the loveliest and most playful lyrics she's ever written, they're meant to invoke a theme and feeling reminiscent of golden hawaii 2. a FANTASTIC instrumental, the guitar intro is what honeymoon should've sounded like, the drums are heavenly and sexy - the guitar throughout is so surf noir 3. "awful composition" literally where tho? like where are the specific examples that's so vague
