the forum is becoming more and more unhinged an omen that LDR9 news is coming soon, methinks
-
I’ve been wondering this as well. Maybe she’d reactivate for a quick second to post and then log off again? Or maybe Ben and Ed would handle it? I’m actually really interested to see how this plays out lol
-
A summer release would be insanely soon (possibly unrealistic), but I’m getting summer vibes regardless, so I’m manifesting something after May
-
Agreed!! With the other insider claiming her next record is going in a different direction, I almost wonder if they’ve heard more than one song (like the “rock candy” one) or if they’re just assuming the entire album will sound like that single…much to think about..
-
I’m really curious how much of the album she has already. Like..does she have a single song (potentially DNC)? Or closer to a handful? I just find it odd that she would be wearing potential merch references with only a song or two in mind…not to mention that the LDR Village email claims that there are already surprises and drops planned…we’ve been given fake dates before but lol
-
I’m determined to not hear any major leaks/snippets this time around. If she downloads Instagram again to tease LDR9’s tracklist I will simply remove the app because I have no self-control

please don’t try to find me through my Costco

Omg these titles are unearthing emotions I forgot I had This was for NFR, but I will never forget checking LanaBoards when I worked at Chili’s and seeing Darla’s “in the cockpit” lyrics…honestly, maybe she’ll return for a LDR9 tease. It kept things interesting
-
I forgot about this or the “Seafoam Nova…dropping Tuesday” from that marketing manager with radio/recording ties…praying we don’t endure this again lol

Exactly this. Maybe this is a universal thing, but when singles and records are spaced super far apart from one another, I have a tendency to subconsciously separate the two which makes it harder for me to appreciate an entire tracklist as one body of work. This is just a personal preference, but I love when artists drop a single or two less than a month before the release date. I feel like it’s the perfect amount of time needed to sustain hype without releasing too much of the tracklist beforehand. My dream timeline (other than a surprise release )
-
Idc how the rollout is as long as it’s better than NFR’s timeline. I feel like it aged me 20 years it was worth the wait though also, at least now we won’t have to worry about her teasing most of the songs—most of it will probably be an actual surprise minus any leakers!

Agreed. @Surf Noir deserves their own category methinks -
I hadn’t made this comparison but omg you’re so right imagining a cross between Honeymoon & NFR is so powerful….

omg this is actually the first song I thought of when I heard the unreleased On & On & On!

I do hope that we get a few tracks that remind me of the vocals on Wildflower Wildfire. Her delivery felt really confident, and she seemed to lean into some of her older vocal stylings. She made neat dialectical choices—like pronouncing “million” as “milly-in”—and harkened back to a specific type of vibrato(?) in singing words like “lithium.” I’m neither a linguist nor a vocalist, but I thought some of the BTD & UV vocal similarities were used really well in WFWF. Her tone has been more conversational for her past few records, and I thought it was really refreshing to hear. Maybe someone else has more insight into what I mean lol

your first Lana Del Rey song came on shuffle in 2023

I shuffled her complete discography playlist on Spotify and got Born To Die -
I really hope Lana goes this direction at some point—I have a weak spot for harmonica, and I just feel like it would compliment her voice so well

Imagine if Lana announces that LDR9 will be something completely left field like math rock/Midwest emo lol it’ll never happen, but it’s a fun thought experiment. I feel like Lana’s versatile enough to do practically anything, but that’s one genre that’s tough for me to imagine (even though I think I’d love it lol) Are there any other genres that you think would be interesting to hear on LDR9 even if unrealistic/impossible?
-
this would be the perfect time for Lana to revive the Honeymoon hotline…with a grainy, almost muffled snippet of a song from LDR9.. even if it’s just a three-second instrumental or something

LDR9 IS COMING

Does anyone know which Lana songs/records Boz likes most? I’m trying to get a better idea of what he considers a “GOOD” track (as he described the upcoming single)

My thoughts on the “trilogy” comment that others have echoed sentiments of and touched on: Even though BTD, UV, and HM are sonically very different, the composition, subject matter, and writing styles are all very similar across the albums. Her first three records—in my opinion—had a heavier emphasis on grandiosity and mystery which lended to a very escapist, transportive quality in both the production and storytelling. The writing (with some exceptions) had different stylistic choices compared to her past three records. While her early work was largely characterized by weaving together sensory details to create an impressionist tapestry of her memories and emotions, records like NFR, COCC, and BB are far more diaristic and conversational, making it some of her most intimate work to date. In my opinion, both the organic production and confessional songwriting traded some of the secrecy and enigma behind Lana Del Rey for vulnerability. As others have suggested, LFL showed that Lana is capable of juggling both, penning the poetic and revealing while also piecing together these imaginative pockets of reality to plunge the listener in. I’m not sure what this means for LDR9 and the albums to come, but I wouldn’t be surprised if we see a new shift (however that will manifest). Lana’s incredibly versatile, and regardless of whether it’s merely an extension of the past 3 records, I think something refreshing is headed our way!
-
I feel this, honestly. I think I would have enjoyed BB a lot more if I didn’t have as many spoilers, but I am looking forward to the start of a new “trilogy” (assuming that’s true) I’ve even considered refraining from singles for this album cycle, but I know I never follow through with that lol. I just really hope that no one spoils much else if Lana does a surprise, digital-only release
