in before the “N” in DNC stands for Nowels which means the D could be Dan…ULTRAVIOLENCE 2.0 INCOMING but what is the C?
-
I’ve been wondering this as well considering she’s finally (in her words) told her “story.” Maybe we’ll get an NFR/LFL type of record that is more present-focused than BB? I’m sure she has more to tell, but I could see the context of the stories being more of a reflection of her current mindset (like Get Free, for example). I was just about to bring this up! I wish we had some idea which project they were referring to. It’s bizarre because currently.. •DNC project (LDR9, maybe??) •Nikki Lane Collab Album •Behind the Iron Gates •Covers Record …are all contenders for what they could be referring to.

Definitively no album? Or just as far as we know thus far?
-
I almost wonder if Rob’s comment is about the covers album instead of LDR9. Much to think about..
-
Ok but Mike Dean and Rob delivering a jazz record with synths infused? I’d like to see it
-
I honestly really liked the way Rob incorporated piano on Sweet Carolina! Also, it’s cool that we have confirmation that *something* is in the works (possibly for the next album). That being said, I hope it’s something refreshing sonically for LDR9! I’d love for Emile Haynie and/or Mike Dean to be involved in this one with Rob

I’ve been going back and forth on whether I want to post about BTD, so I figure I will before I get sleepy lol When I first heard BTD, it felt less like a record and more like a little pocket of fantasy I could retreat to for a few years. I love that she plunges the listener into this headspace of walking drunkenly through a dark but fantastical realm of Americana. The overwhelming sense of freedom in the record ties perfectly into the themes of youth, and I think this also allows her to expertly convey feelings of jarring, existential loneliness and mind-blurring hedonism as well. It’s incredibly thoughtful in subtle ways while also undeniably cinematic in its presentation. She achieved novelty with a record dressed in nostalgia. Not only that, but she managed to deliver these nearly unimaginable worlds in a way that millions could find a connection to. That is a feat in of itself. Happy 10 Years

a gay should alert Ben & Ed that it’s been hacked so Lana is reminded the hotline exists
-
Lana should revive the Honeymoon Hotline
-
I also think it’s interesting that she’s been opening it more and more frequently lately. I wonder if she’s more comfortable with having a larger circle of followers now or if it’s something else… The poetry book or LDR9 or AS&C announcement would be an interesting turn of events

that was so wholesome! I love how Lana’s the expert of idealizing mundanity in a really simple but pretty way (like in Video Games)

The media Lana consumes/posts often crops up into her own art (Women Who Run With The Wolves, Henry David Thoreau, etc.), so I’m curious if these recent poem posts have any significance. The poem from yesterday (in my interpretation) seems to focus on how losing something/someone you cherish gives your life a sense of mystery or anticipation for what will come next. The excerpt from today seems to touch on learning to treasure both the ideal and the horrible aspects of one’s life. It seems like she’s been reflecting a ton on her own losses (maybe familial, romantic, emotional, etc.) in an accepting way. I know that’s a bit vague, but these are the same sentiments we saw in tracks like HIAB, Venice Bitch, Love, LFL, Blue Banisters, and so on! Just a random observation lol

I’m honestly in love with this sound. Most mainstream artists attempting country just release pop songs dressed with a country twang, but this feels so true to the genre. The harmonies are gorgeous, and the way they move with the melody makes them feel older and almost showtunes-y. I would love to hear this song with old, vintage mics, prominent guitars, a harmonica, and that grainy, almost crackling quality characteristic of music in the 1940-1960s.

you’re an icon yourself!! preparing for you to sweep at least 1 category next year -
Ernest Hemingway and Tammy Wynette have both discussed their ECT treatments as well! (Although, Hemingway’s references in Lana’s discography were mentions of his works than of Ernest himself.)

PLEASE I laughed so ugly at this your mind is so powerful

In my ambient-driven instrumentals era, I suppose. This song is so nice with headphones…the embodiment of yearning, methinks

I can’t tell whether she was actually being sassy in this but “Did you guys come to the show or no?” lives in my head rent-free lol -
