What if Lana didn’t have Iron Gates ready for Simon & Shuster by March of 2021 (its intended release date), so they extended her deadline by a year… Take that with a grain of salt because I don’t know how publishing works & I don’t know how well that would translate to a surprise release lol
-
The only piece of speculation that makes me think this isn’t poetry is that people are implying a surprise release & that we’ll need money for it I feel like it would be really difficult to surprise drop a book for immediate consumption, but who knows. I’ll be happy with poetry or a record, though

she’s been performing a good bit lately. Is there a reason he would single out this show specifically?

Pawn Shop Blues is probably in my Top 10 Lana songs of all time, and I’ve had hope that someday she’ll release it again after teasing the music video. I think it would be a really beautiful way to punctuate a country record from Lana. Closing with PSB would not only be a full-circle moment, but it’s also just a nice thesis for a record: learning to survive after love and sometimes sacrificing it for “the name of higher consciousness” and emotional wellbeing. Needless to say I would really love a rerelease

I completely agree. The type of country music Lana seems to have drawn inspiration from is vastly different than most modern, mainstream country music, and I think the country tracks she performed at the Ally Coalition reflect that. I almost feel that Lana could segue into country far more successfully than most other mainstream pop/alt artists because of how much country has tinged her past records—even as far back as her Lizzy days. If executed well, I could see Lana getting major kudos for reviving “old country” in a refreshing, relatable way. I’m really curious to see how Nikki Lane’s involvement shapes the record as well!

so talented!!!! this is so pretty!

Something dark, spacey, metaphysical, and existential I’m imagining a blend of these songs: -Oh Say Can You See -Swan Song -Heroin -Is This Happiness -Wildflower Wildfire -Serene Queen -Money Power Glory -LFL Demo -God Knows I Tried (almost as if you made the witchy LFL trailer into a brooding, languid, almost Honeymoon-esque record)

I’m really curious to see where LDR9 ends up thematically since sonically it could be a tossup. Blue Banisters had a heavy emphasis on clarifying her past, and some of the few present-oriented songs were through the lens of the pandemic. What does everyone else think? I have no idea, really lol

imagining Mike recently getting brought up in a convo Jack and Lana..a gay can dream I fear that a synthy, witch house Lana album would be too powerful…

I audibly laughed—such a good use of this photo lol

Random Thoughts/Predictions (feel free to chime in!!!!): •Option 1: LDR9 will be a LFL equivalent: more lighthearted, present-oriented, a few collabs, a wide range of producers, and more commercially accessible. -This might offer one explanation for the random assortment of collaboration wishes (Migos, Kali Uchis, etc.) as well as being seen with Jack in the studio and Rick Nowels allegedly confirming future work with Lana. This would also align with insider claims of a new direction/trilogy. Jack’s mention of “bombastic” tracks could indicate this as well. —————— •Option 2: LDR9 will be her country record with Nikki Lane. -In addition to recent performances with Lana, Nikki Lane mentioned this project’s development in a fair amount of detail for an interview a while back. However, it’s worth noting that this could very well be a TLSP collab situation where the full project never surfaces. —————— •Option 3: LDR9 will be an extension of the folky, singer-songwriter soundscape displayed on LDR6-8. -This could make sense given that—according to insiders—much of BB’s tracklist was scrapped/replaced prior to its release. Jack also mentioned that there was a portion of his work with Lana that’s still unheard. —————— •Option 4: Her next record will actually be American Standards & Classics. -Lana’s management suggested and reposted speculation that a second project would quickly follow BB, but no other information (to my knowledge) was given. Lana’s talk of a digital release with no vinyls might coincide with this idea. In addition to an easier release, it may be possible that she feels vinyls for a project of covers isn’t necessary. Lana also mentioned that a cover (I can’t remember the artist’s name) may be important for early 2022. Note: DNC could be related to any or none of these projects, but I’m less inclined to believe it’s for AS&C. There are obviously more explanations or alternatives, but here are my top contenders. Let me know what you think!

Idk if anyone pointed this out, but Mike Dean liked his post. I can’t help but wonder if Lana’s interactions with him and Mike are related her magnum opus is upon us
-
her Instagram is such an interesting (almost contradictory) amalgam of aesthetics and comments.. Her poetic trailer park coke cowgirl era incoming

This is how I feel as well! The post suggests we’ll have confirmation in March, so I guess we’ll see!!
-
Martin Garrix himself confirmed that 5 of the 7 artists listed are true, but he hasn’t (to my knowledge) said which ones. He worked with Dua Lipa in the past, so it’s possible Lana met him through her management! My only skepticism for how true this is stems from how different his production is compared to Lana’s more signature sounds, but she’s full of surprises! While his music isn’t my personal favorite, I feel like him and Lana would make something really interesting and atmospheric!

I had a dream Lana posted a casual photo of her and Dan Auerbach & basically announced he was producing LDR9 If only
-
I thought you meant LFL the record & was waiting for LFL-gate to happen in this thread

Also, if Lana embraces country on LDR9, I’d love for her to emphasize the accent shown where the video starts. There’s something so intriguing about how she utilizes certain southern dialects, even now!
