Country isn’t my preferred genre for LDR9 (I’m still dreaming of a slowcore masterpiece lol), but I do think Lana could pull off country more successfully than most non-country artists if she fully embraces the genre. I think it’s easy to generalize the genre to post-2000s country, but I honestly see her conjuring up country music’s earlier soundscape and themes. Her love of Springsteen, Eagles, The Rolling Stones, Tammy Wynette, Jimmy Buffett, etc. really make me think it would be more of a pre-2000s country-rock fusion if she went that route. here’s how I almost imagine a country Lana record would sound:

I really wish fans had more input on their favorite artists’ merch! It seems like many fan bases have this issue with mainstream artists. Musicians typically make merch for fan revenue anyway, so why not appeal to the consumers? LB has generated so many cool clothing, vinyl, and accessory designs, and I know those ideas would sell so well (especially thinking of @lanadelrey with this lol). If only her team would see and consider them

omg did I miss something LDR9-related *clicks link*

imagine if one of Lana’s recent Instagram captions ends up being a song title/lyric here are some contenders: 1.) once a bad girl…always 2.) shining alone 3.) peach fuzz 4.) how we built a home 6.) You Lose Some You Win Some at the Santa Anita Racetrack
-
ok but this would be perfect

The timing is really close. I hope you’re right Even if Lana doesn’t go to the Met Gala, we can reach even more & speculate that the stylists are associated with a music video or magazine cover

lana’s met gala looked just dropped. LDR9 dropping May 2

As far as I know, we have no idea if the song is new or old: just that Lana’s team sent a track to him. I also considered that maybe it would be from BTD, but considering how little promo is broadcasted for her new releases, I’m thinking it’s unlikely that they’d go out of their way to promote a song over a decade old. Then again, maybe we will see an older track show back up! I’m curious to see how this plays out (assuming it ever surfaces lol)

Aesthetics for Death Never Came •murky, experimental •lo-fi trip hop & dream pop influences •stream of consciousness approach to songwriting Tracklist •Death Never Came •Melrose Avenue •God Complex (feat. Kali Uchis) •I Wear The Ring She Left On Your Nightstand •Rock Candy Sweet •Just Lipgloss (feat. Pusha T) •At The Altar •Sunspot Fever

If she is indeed thinking about going on tour, do we think it’ll be before or after new music? I’m not sure how timelines work for stuff like tbh

What does everyone think about what this collab is for? Lana’s team sent Pusha T the song, so I’m assuming it’s not for any of his projects. I can only think of a handful of recent Lana songs that would somewhat fit a Pusha T collab, and even those feel like reaching. I also doubt her team would promote a song more than a few years old, so it’s likely new material, right?

I 100% think Lana could pull off a surprise digital release if she had some promo & a few music videos ready for the week of release. Her list of speculated collaborations keeps growing, and (if any are true), I’m wondering what that could mean for LDR9. Are they promotional, for fun, or are we going to see a record welcoming more musical peers like in LFL? (Slightly off-topic but I think her team utilizing TikTok would be a smart move considering how often she trends)

the bombastic songs are the “Dealer” of this era, i fear. personally i would like to see them even if they are just uptempo piano ballads
-
Idc if LDR9 is solely piano as long as there’s one song that makes me feel absolutely feral Like I need a song like White Dress to permanently alter the morphology and inner circuitry of my brain. I want to be left searching for glue on Amazon to piece my brain back together idc

I’d love for Lana to have a record with a strong futuristic feel running throughout it. She’s had some elements of it in her discography (whether it be through aesthetics or production), but I’d be really interested to see her embrace it fully on an entire album with heavy electronic and almost psychedelic influences. (also imagine a reworked, more futuristic take on Oh Say Can You See)

for anyone curious, this is the song that was playing in the background of her video. Her ambient era incoming

I’d love for this to be the case! I think the only other time-delaying matter would be whether Jack would need additional time to mix the instrumentation Drew and Lana cooked up. Then again, I have no idea how that works/how long it takes or if Jack would be doing that at all lol I really do like that idea, though—while I personally prefer Jack as a producer, Drew has some really gorgeous instrumentals that I think could have really elevated the string/piano arrangements on Lana and Jack’s past work, so I’m excited if that’s the case! Then again, maybe it’ll just be some ratio of Jack-only and Drew-only tracks. We’ll see!

Lana seems to put a lot of thought into deciding which projects are her favorite or the best (currently Violet and Norman, respectively), so I’m wondering if her alleged comment to a fan about LDR9 being “better” than Blue Banisters actually carries weight or if it was just a remark made in passing. The interview from a few months ago—the same one where she identified NFR as her best record—she talked about how she generally knows what the public reception of her work will be, so maybe we should expect listeners to have an even more welcoming response to LDR9. Then again, maybe I’m reaching. I guess we’ll have to wait and see
-
Not really. I’m not sure when you checked in last, but on Easter she was with the editor in chief for Interview Magazine: Mel Ottenberg. As far as I know, there’s no confirmation as to whether Lana and Mel meeting is indicative of a magazine cover/interview; for all I know, they could just be friends. He recently (about 2 hours ago) posted this tweet screenshot on his Instagram account as well

what if DNC doesn’t stand for anything in English? Détourner Nerveusement les Compliments incoming (no I cannot speak French lol)
-
Dancing Naked in California (does that count?)
-
PLEASE I thought this was an album/poetry book announcement however I really liked that post! It’s cool how she differentiates her “best” and “favorite” projects (with her recently saying NFR was her best and now Violet being her favorite). What a neat tidbit of info!

Lana posting about The Land of 1000 Fires and Sportcruiser like ~20 minutes after you commented this….

Devil Never Cared: a play on the phrase “devil-may-care” which typically suggests a carefree attitude and a light religious reference as well

My personal (sometimes unrealistic) wishes for LDR9: -an intense, thoughtful album cover: I think that UV’s is a great example, especially with the commentary of how they wanted to achieve an end-of-a-horror-film vibe. I also loved NFR’s and how it referenced songs on the record/included textural details common in Rockwell’s art. -distinct-sounding but cohesive tracks: It’s pretty self-explanatory, but (while of course this is subjective) I think NFR did an amazing job of maintaining its own sonic bubble while still having variety between songs (MAC, VB, CG, hope, etc.) -a Doin’-Time-esque video: Really iconic, fun, and visually/conceptually creative. I consider it one of her best music videos to date, and it fit perfectly with the record’s overall vibe. -no leaks/majorly long snippets: I know it’s inevitable. I really do. I just love surprises, and I love hearing songs for the first time in the context of a record. I think NFR’s was almost a worst-case-scenario in this aspect (HIAB and Cinnamon Girl flashbacks), but yeah lol
