  1. my Thai basil plant said Hans Zimmer is producing the entirety of LDR9 atmospheric retro space synth psychedelia magnum opus incoming!!!
  2. Instead of escaping the wildfires, Del Rey steers herself straight into them on her ninth studio album. There’s a seamless sense of continuity between the tracks on the record, with wah-wah pedals bleeding into warm synths and melting horn blows. The record almost seems to hearken back to the psychedelic languor of Honeymoon, but the surf rock influence that we heard breaths of in the Antonoff-produced Fuck it I love you has finally reached its full form. The middle of the record takes an interesting twist with Bruise: the acid-tab-fed, siren little sister of Dealer. From this point on, the record becomes both darker and more abstract in its lyricism until the final, most jarringly autobiographical track of her career—Out Of The Ashes. “The loves I lost to camera shutters/Wish I had no voice/But still I sing for you,” she says a final time in the absence of any instrumentation, punctuating the record with a half-whispered confession that leaves you uncomfortable for hearing something so personal. ★★★★★
  3. The song is stunning. I couldn’t initially place why it reminded me so much of NFR, but it’s because it’s in the same key as The greatest, it opens with a similar strings (probably a mellotron?), and it has that same C->C#dmin->Dm chord progression at the start. It’s like if The greatest and her cover of Summertime meshed together. Apologies if someone’s made this comparison already lol. I wouldn’t be too shocked if LDR9 ended up similar to this!
  4. I used to wish I joined LB years earlier but maybe my mental state was spared
  5. i really hope I’m not a scat victim for the LDR9 era. The flashbacks of seeing that during the Blue Banisters era after taking an edible…still healing
  6. imagining an alternate universe where insiders are being quiet bc LDR9 is a surprise release set for tomorrow
  7. If she ends up doing a surprise release, insiders plz let it remain a surprise—we rarely get sudden announcements that come to fruition
  8. I’m pretty neutral about the possibility of a Taylor Swift collab. I’m less inclined to think it would be for LDR9 and more thinking it would be for a Swift “vault track” tbh. While I prefer Lana’s solo work almost 100% of the time, I’d still be interested to see what they would cook up. If LDR9 is country/folk and they do indeed collab, I could totally see them doing something like Swift’s cowboy like me, Safe & Sound, or even no body, no crime. If nothing else, knowing Taylor Swift’s management, Lana would get a ton of promo—possibly in the form of a big-budget music video
  9. I’ve had such a good feeling about LDR9, and these recent posts are just reinforcing my hype. LDR9 is coming to dethrone
  10. Assuming she’s not trolling, I hope that things get better for her; people rarely have much control over that level of reality distortion Also, I forget how many encounters Lana has like this—there’s no telling how many of these interactions (both in-person and online) she has that we’ve never heard of
  11. Something that excites me for LDR9 is that she seems to be taking her time/refraining from giving out release dates. With COCC, she made remarks about feeling uncertain about its readiness for release, and I’m sure COVID played some part in that as well (I believe the COVID part was mentioned directly by Lana or Jack but someone correct me if wrong). Lana recently described NFR as being her best record, and I think she could very easily top it with LDR9 if she takes her time with Jack (assuming he’s the producer based on recent posts). I think she’s grown a lot as an artist since 2019, and I think her recently closing the chapter on getting “revenge” via telling her story on Blue Banisters has paved a really nice path for LDR9. I could see the record being relatively fun/lighthearted (almost how NFR and LFL were) and reflect the life she’s shared via her Honeymoon account, but we’ll see!
  12. that’s one of the best compliments esp coming from one of the most tasteful usersactually your reply about honeymoon’s abstractness and you wanting more enigma partly contributed to me going down a mental rabbit hole with that post! I would love for her to embrace something akin to that for LDR9!!
  13. “Lana Del Rey’s ninth studio album—perhaps her most puzzling and compelling record to date—captures her listeners and releases them into a California-kissed haze of nihilism and lovesick adoration, wittily and almost sarcastically embracing the early caricatures critics assigned to her. Del Rey seems to swim between genres as the record progresses, carefully weaving together the very fabric of Del Norte County’s essence: dreamy echoes of surf rock guitar riffs, half-spoken twangs of rockabilly, and bluesy saxes all packaged in something so gorgeously and undeniably Lana. Kali Uchis appears as a feature on Lovesick, and toward the end of the record, Dolly Parton graces her voice on the engaging storytelling of I Wear Your Ring When I’m Lonely—somehow, the two features work. There’s even an eerily bewitching solo cover of Hotel California, and it’s one of Lana’s best. Sonically, the record is a refreshing change of pace for Del Rey, but there are certainly little fragments of its predecessors: the fantastical worldbuilding of Born To Die, the numbed introspection of Honeymoon, the sardonic edge of Ultraviolence, and the catchy, distinctly personal writing of NFR.” (the edible hit earlier & I just realized how much I typed—sorry)
  14. you at 12:00AM when Lana drops LDR9 & has her dad open the record with a twinkling piano riff
  15. A single (possibly) before summer? That’s soon, so I’m excited! Summer for the Northern Hemisphere starts June 21st, and that’s in less than 3 months??? Maybe all of the June manifestations for LDR9 are coming to fruition
  16. April Fools’ Day is such a dark time for Lana stans who have no awareness of holidays
  17. This is somewhat terrifying but I’m here for it lol if DNC ends up standing for “Do Not Call” we’ll assume you’re a psychic
  18. the way we’ve made 300+ pages from milking… -DNC theories, -Rob/Lana/Jack D. Instagram posts -1 questionable screenshot of a Rick Nowels reply -the “trilogy” comment honestly our minds amaze me. Imagine this thread when we get a shred of concrete news
  19. While a few of these are debatably not “teases” and just coincidental tees, I really hope that DNC reflects this trend I really do think it has some significance, though. The jacket (to me, at least) seemed like an uncommon choice to pair with her award outfit, and I would assume it has some relevance or else the LDR Village guy wouldn’t have said, “Oh, it might!” when prompted about the possibility of it appearing on merch…. only time will tell
  20. I’ve been wondering that as well! I really hope you’re right, honestly. LFL really was a great “bridge” album: it touched on the aesthetics of her past 3 records and segued perfectly into NFR-COCC-BB with the second half of the record (especially Change, Heroin, and finally Get Free). I’m still amazed at how representative those last 3 tracks are of her current work. I think it would be so cool if LDR9 had a similar eclectic and diverse composition which would align well with her “all over the place” posts, collab wishes, producer rumors, etc. With LFL in mind, imagine the first half of LDR9 is a different take on its preceding trilogy (perhaps the more “bombastic” tracks) and the latter half is where she’s headed next musically. I know it’s unrealistic & I’m mostly just wishfully extrapolating off the “trilogy” comment out of boredom, but it’s still a neat thought lol
  21. Lana’s social media posts often reflect aspects of her record (which makes sense given how autobiographical her albums are), so I’m curious to see how this translates to LDR9. For example, with past records, she’s posted relevant quotes, aesthetics, literary references, etc. The posts/replies from the past few months have been so vastly different that it’s hard to find a common theme, but she does seem to be enjoying life. I’d love a feeling like in Venice Bitch where she seems to just be having fun, using cheeky one-liners and just vibing with the music lol. “Everything, whatever” was so simple but so iconic
