I haven't been on the forum in a while, but I just popped in and saw this post, so I thought I'd contribute my opinion.  Hope y'all don't mind.

I personally like BTD/Paradise the best.  I love Chamber Pop... that's why I like those albums so much.  It's also why I like songs like Adele's "Set Fire to the Rain" and Coldplay's "Viva la Vida."  My second favorite LDR album is Honeymoon, followed by UV.  (I'm not including any pre-LDR albums.)

She is definitely exploring different things.  UV was a HUGE departure from BTD/P, and HM is, at least in my opinion, not the return to the BTD/P style that people were touting it to be.  I see it as somewhere in between BTD/P and UV stylistically.  That said... see next comment.

I think a lot of people will agree with this, especially in terms of her vocal quality.  Her voice has come a LONG way since BTD/P... she's more solid, more confident, sings more strongly, better vibrato, etc.  As far as the "quality" of her music goes, that's subject to everyone's interpretation (including mine).

It seems like with each new album, she's trying something a little different.  Hopefully, that will continue with the next one.  I'd love to see another BTD/P-style album myself, but I'd also be happy with whatever she puts out (as long as it's not rap, LOL).

I'm with you on that one.

One thing I've noticed over the years is that, other than concerts, she has pretty much stopped making public appearances (in person, or on TV).  Whether that's her own doing or that of her record label, I couldn't say... just something I've observed.

I'll agree with most people here.  To me it's a little like BTD and a little like UV, but really has its own unique sound.

Yes, she lived in London for, I believe, about 2 years.  Much of "Born To Die" and some of "Paradise" was recorded and/or produced there, too.  If you have the album insert, you'll see several references to various studios in London.

Also, when she won her second Brit award in 2013, in her (short) acceptance speech, she said "I live here, and I wrote my record here..."  I don't know if she's referring to "Born To Die" or "Paradise," or perhaps both (when her name was announced, they played a snippet of "Ride," which is, of course, off of "Paradise").  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xVEDFKsagBs

I also saw a video of Lana with fans in Mexico, and for the first time, I heard her bodyguard speak.  Guess what?  He's British!  She probably met him there.

You're all gonna think I'm crazy, but I really hate it when, during live performances of "Born To Die," she changes "Let me kiss you hard in the pouring rain" to "Let me f*** you hard in the pouring rain."  To me, that's her worst lyric.

I was gonna reply to this thread at the end and mention "Queen of Saigon," but you beat me to it.

Another reference I've heard in 2 different songs, and I'm surprised no one else mentioned it by now:  "Take [your/that] body downtown" is mentioned in both Video Games and National Anthem.

Sometimes, you just have to fill in a syllable, I suppose.   Also in in Video Games, she needs a 3rd syllable in the word "Only", so it comes out "On-a-ly".  "On-a-ly worth living if somebody is loving you"

    This is great stuff!!

I would also like to suggest including, somewhere before the mention of "Video Games," what Lana has said in early interviews about having lowered her voice so that people would take her more seriously.

Maybe she forgot that she had sung it last year? LOL...  Or perhaps she meant she had never done it on the Endless Summer tour... who knows.  This IS Lana we're talking about, after all.

The sound checks at my venue were pretty early in the day.  We could hear them from outside, but they were done before even the gold VIP people got in.

The gift bag itself was a black bag with the Endless Summer tour picture on it, and it said "Lana Del Rey" above.  It also had, for lack of a better description, a roughly 3'x3' banner inside that also says "Lana Del Rey" and has the Endless Summer tour picture.  I tried to take a picture and post it, but the forum won't let me. :-/

I'm not 100% sure about the timing for Gold VIP.  Your best bet might be to start a new thread to see if anyone else here has done the Gold VIP to see what they did.  I'd imagine that you could arrive around 4:00 and ask one of the security people where the Gold VIP people line up.  Natalie will be around there somewhere and will make sure you get your wristband.  Also, a couple of days before the show, you'll get an e-mail from Live Nation which will include Natalie's cell number.  You can call or text her if you're unsure (but only the day of, as specified in the e-mail you'll get).

Hi! None, really... same company.  Live Nation is the name of the company, and VIP Nation is, I guess you could say, the "subunit" of Live Nation that works with the VIP ticket holders.

Totally agree with you, @@buster. From where I was, it was easy to see the emotion on her face, especially when she sang "Chelsea Hotel #2." And to see her smiling at the crowd and at the people in front now and then... definitely a beautiful thing.

@@VelvetNight Thanks for the awesome write-up! I'm glad you got your selfie with Lana. Now we just need to see it...

@@Bae There was plenty of weed smell at my show, too. Courtney Love was teasing us (the crowd) about it, too; at one point, she said "Aren't you guys a little young to be smoking weed?" LOL
