Blue Banisters - Pre-Pre-Release Thread

And considering the fact that I used to DESPISE Terrance when it was released. I would rather have another HM than another poorly produced record that was made on 2007 era Audacity. MIKE THE FLOP AND JACK JACKOFF WILL NEVER BE DADDY NOWELS AND KING AUERBACH. -

I'm just glad that Jack Jackoff will not be producing this record. I'm so tired of his lethargic guitars and farting horns. -
Rick Nowels was the GOAT. I miss him on Lana's production.

I’m going to get shit for this but I find NFR to be her most unauthentic piece of work. This album in general just doesn’t have that same feeling as her past work. It’s not the aesthetics, it’s not the production, it’s just the way how her emotions are presented on the album. It’s like she’s holding them back and is restrained. The romance and the sadness are just not… there. That’s one thing about Lana that has always stood out about her than other pop artists, it’s the way how she presents her emotions. Yeah some people like to shit on her for being overly emotional or in other words “pretentious” but that’s how she fucking expresses herself. That’s what makes her Lana. Even some of the controversial cuts on LFL sounded more authentic than the material off of NFR. And even Honeymoon, which seems like an acquire taste for some fans, has her belting out lyrics on GKIT and seducing vocals on MTWBT. However, NFR doesn’t showcase much on the more romantic and sadder tracks. The instrumentation doesn’t bring much to the table either. And I can’t bare to hear How to Disappear on that awful fucking production. I hate to say this but NFR was a bland and overly hyped album that the anti-Lana critics could only handle and enjoy.

Man’s World sounds different instrumentally but each song pretty much is about the same themes. Feminism, men being assholes, and not fitting in. I do agree on the melody variations. PTP is probably the worse one of the three due to the corny lyrics but her vocals and instrumentations are good.

I’m still salty about Better being cut from The Altar. That track would have been an incredible closer.

EH did not age well but I only like it for the nostalgic factor. TFJ is timeless!

FROOT was my Lana’s Honeymoon to me. It’s an album where she has some strong moments but I wouldn’t consider it to be her best work. I found the majority of FROOT to be boring but not a bad album. L+F on the other hand...

I still can’t believe she’s gone.

I’m going to cut a bitch if this is true.

Am I the only one who finds the Harvey line cringey? Especially with the adlibs. ?

Her old mixtapes are gold to me but her recent material caters to more of that modern and bland R&B. Her voice is way too versatile and ethereal for that genre. That’s just my opinion though. -

Belladonna is the only song I like from her. Her music sounds dated in a bad way. 2012’s pop music wasn’t necessarily terrible but it has aged poorly. -
Love the song too but why are sex workers upset with Twigs?

I’m a production whore too which is the reason why I hated NFR. How to Disappear is her shittiest produced song. I’m sorry. But I’m surprised that I liked this album. It’s simplistic but it has soul. NFR felt forced to me. But COCC gives me that old Lizzy Grant era with some UV elements. However, I wouldn’t consider this to be her best work rather more middle of the road.
